Abstract

Regression parameter estimation is mainly used to describe the effect of dependent variable to the response variable. On development of it, parameter estimation is also used to case of multivariate regression. Seemingly Unrelated Regression model is one of regression multivariate cases which has especially assumption, i.e., correlation between errors on the multivariate regression. Robust S is one of robust estimation methods. This estimation can be resistant in presence of outlier in the data. In this research, we studied about parameter estimation for Seemingly Unrelated Regression model using robust S. We applied the model obtained to General Electric and Westinghouse data from 1935 to 1954

Abstract

Ammunition is a tool that works to sabotage or destroy the target. Weapons Laboratory in TNI AL have ammunition caliber 57 mm C-60 Het, with more than 10 years of age. Ammunition caliber 57 mm C-60 Het has three sections, projectile, propellant, and primer.  Primary part of this ammunition is not working well, so that it is necessary to repair this section. Repairing of primary part is done  by changing the chemical compound AB3, DF3, and GI2. The purpose of this study is to determine chemical composition of primary part, so that it can optimize the sensitivity and detonation. The results show that the optimization begins with model estimation of two response by Ordinary Least Square (OLS). Futher, model estimation for each response is tranformed into individual desirability function to form joint desirability function. Results optimization caliber ammunition 57 mm C-60 by Generalized Reduced Gradient method (GRG), obtained sensitivity of 9.93 cm and the detonation of 108.68 dB, with compotition AB3 compound was 48.8 grams, DF3 compound was 21.0025 grams, and GI2 compound was 17 grams.

Abstract

In this article, two methods are proposed to give the interval estimation for quantile on two parameters exponential distribution under multiply type II censoring. The interval estimation for quantile can be constructed the estimated parameters. Those researchers have use approximate maximum likelihood estimator to construct interval estimation for two parameters exponential distribution under multiply type II censoring. All of these method need an assumption that sample is exponentially distributed. We will use another method, known as the bootstrap percentile. This method gives shorter interval than the traditional method and this method does not need an assumption that the sample is distributed exponentially.

Abstract

A mesophile bacteria isolated from intestinal systems of local-soil termite, produced an extracellular β-endoxylanase upon growth on xylan. Optimum production of the enzyme was found in media containing oatspelt xylan at 37oC after sixth hours. The activities of its β-endoxylanase on oat-spelt xylan was investigated. It had an optimum pH and temperature, 5.0 and 40o C, respectively. However, pH stability occurred between 5.08.0. The enzyme was stable at 40o C for four hours and possessed a half life of four hours. β-endoxylanase had an apparent molecular mass of 45.000 to 66.200 Dalton as determined by SDS-PAGE. Analysis of zymogram using SDS-Xylan-PAGE indicated that enzymes could degrade oat-spelt xylan as substrates.

Abstract

A sunscreen compound namely n-octyl para-methoxy cinnamat (OPMC) had been synthesized from the ethyl para-methoxy cinnamat (EPMC) isolated from the kencur tuber (Kaemferia galanga L.) as the raw material. The convertion of EPMC to OPMC was conducted by hydrolysis reaction of EPMC using the alcoholic KOH solution catalyst to yield para-methoxy cinnamat acid (PMCA). Futhermore, the esterification reaction of PMCA and n-octanol, using the concentrated sulfuric acid catalyst produced OPMC as a colorless needle crystal with rendemen 53.98%. The molecular structure of OPMC was identified by spectroscopic methods including UV, IR, 1H-NMR, and EIMS.

Abstract

Stearidonic acid (SDA); 18:4(n-3), an ω-3 Polyunsaturated Fatty Acid (PUFA), could be produced by Genetically Modified Saccharomyces cerreviseae (GMY) using Linseed Oil (LO) as fatty acid source. In nature, S. cerrevisae accumulates only very small amount lipid and contains until mono unsaturated fatty acids. But this GMY strain beside has capability to accumulate lipid, it also contains Δ6 desaturase gene which leads to convert α-Linolenic Acid (ALA); 18:3(n-3) to be SDA. Gas Chromatograph analysis of transmethylated LO sample showed that main component of fatty acid was ALA (about 57%), therefore LO can be used as a cheap source for other PUFA production. In order to provide ALA as a source for the yeast, enzymatic hydrolysis of LO using lipase was done. The lipase from Rhizomucor miehei (L4277-SIGMA) showed the highest activity among 5 lipases when 1 g/L LO in the medium for yeast (containing 6.7g/L yeast nitrogen base, 20 g/L glucose and 2.5g/L tergitol NP-40) was hydrolyzed. For SDA production, 1g/L LO in medium was aseptically hydrolyzed by lipase in 50 unit/mL for 18 hours at 30 oC and 140 rpm. The pre-culture of GMY (1% V/V) was then inoculated into the treated medium and 2.59 g/L dried cells were obtained after 5 days cultivation. ALA was accumulated in the cells at 0.06g/L (11% of total ALA in LO), and only 25% (0.015g/L) of accumulated ALA were converted to SDA. These results suggested that LO can be used as a source for PUFA production. In order to improve the productivity of SDA using GMY, hydrolysis of LO as well as cultivation condition and genetically improvement of the yeast must be highly considerated.

Abstract

The determination of concentration of gingerol compound is usually carried out through a long and expensive process using HPLC instrument. The alternative method to predict such concentration can be done using a multivariate calibration model. Since the numbers of samples (n) are less than the number of variables (p) and between the independent variables are correlated, the development of model using conventional regression is no longer valid. The combination of Discrete Wavelet Transformation (DWT) and Partial Least Square has been adopted in this research to predict concentration of gingerol and it showed a promising result.

Abstract

Quantile regression is an important tool for conditional quantiles estimation of a response Y for a given vector of covariates X. It can be used to measure the effect of covariates not only in the center of a distribution, but also in the upper and lower tails. Regression coefficients for each quantile can be estimated through an objective function which is weighted average absolute errors. Each quantile regression characterizes a particular aspect of a conditional distribution. Thus we can combine different quantile regressions to describe more completely the underlying conditional distribution. The analysis model of quantile regression would be specifically useful when the conditional distribution is not a normal shape, such as an asymmetric distribution or truncated distribution. In general, rainfall in Indramayu regency during 1972-2001 at 23 stations is highly variable in amount across time (month)andspace. So,the first objective of the research is reducing the variability in space using classification of the rainfall stations. The second objective is modelling the variability in time using quantile regression for every cluster of rainfall stations. The result shows that there are two clusters of rainfall stations. The first cluster has higher amount of rainfall than the second cluster. The coefficient of quantile regression for quantile 50 and 75 percent are similar, but for quantile 5 and 90 percent are very different. Exploring pattern of rainfall using quantile regression can detect normal or extreme rainfall that very useful in agricultural.
