Abstract

Abstract

Dye sensitized solar cells (DSSC) has been a popular research topic which benefits in high energy conversion efficiency and less cost in fabrication process. The components of DSSC consist of photoanode, electrolyte, and counter electrode that are arranged as sandwich. The photoanode contains ITO (indium tin oxide) glass covered by TiO2 particles, while the counter electrode contains ITO glass covered by composite of TiO2-graphite as counter electrode and red cabbage extract, as a dye agent. The cell was fabricated in various amount of graphite, i.e 10%; 30%; and 50 %, and time of soaking i.e 2; 13; 24; and 48 hours. The performance of the solar cell per active area of 1 cm2 was tested on irradiation of 75 Watt halogen lamp (distance 15 cm) and measured by multimeter and rheostat. The optimum synthesis condition of DSSC was obtained with composition of TiO2:graphite on the counter electrode is 70%:30 %, and soaking time in dye agent is for 24 hours. This cell results in an optimum performance, Isc = 0.028 mA ;Voc = 0.344 mV, FF = 0.29 and = 0.0055 % efficiency. Keywords: DSSC, Red Cabbage, Counter Electrode

Abstract

The development of security systems led to the development of face recognition system using image processing techniques.Research was conducted to identify a face image automatically with theeigenface method. The method used is a normalization, eigenface, neural network training and testing.Eigenface is used to reduce the dimension vector face becomes much simpler (eigen vector). Eigen vectorsobtained are used by back propagation neural network training process and recognition. Then do thetesting process using the image of a face that has not been used in the training process. The results showed the use of neural networks and eigenface to face recognition can give a goodaccuracy. The system is able to produce an acuracy of 84.6% with a FAR (False Acceptance Rate) =16.2%, FRR (False Rejection Rate) = 20% and EER (Equal Error Rate) = 0.3.Keywords : face recognition, eigenface, eigen vector, neural network

Abstract

In this experiment, seven single-chamber microbial fuel cells (MFCs) were made and filled with various types of local agricultural soil and sediments found in irrigation channels, which were mixed with glucose and green bean sprouts mashed as nutrients for microbial survival. MFC electric power was measured every day for 35 days. Every time low electric power indicated weak microbial activity, green bean sprouts were added. The highest electric power of 118 µW (23.4 mW/m2) was observed in fuel cells filled with agricultural land planted with rice. Power density reached the range of 120–140 mW/m2, whereas the incubation time showed a maximum of 35 days. This study found that adding green bean sprouts can increase the length of the MFC cycle and strengthen the generated power up to 122 mW.

Abstract

Abstract

The protein content in the wastewater tempe high enough. Filtration of tempe wastewater  can use cellulose acetate membranes. Type cellulose acetate membranes used is ultrafiltration membranes. Pressure and protein concentration influenced on the flux, rejection, and fouling resistance. Membrane characteristics included flux, pore asymmetries, time compaction and permeability coefficient. The results showed that fouling resistance is influenced by the pressure and concentration of the feed solution. The higher the pressure will cause increased fouling resistance, while higher concentrations will cause fouling resistance decreases. The pressure and the higher the concentration of protein causes rejection decreasedFiltration of Protein in Tempe Wastewater Using Cellulose Acetate Membrane

Abstract

The purpose of this research is to make a series of analyzes using a flow system with a bottle Marriote as pump and spectrophotometric method for determining the content of iron in water samples. Determination of iron by this method used 1,10-fenantrolin complexing or 2,2-bipyridyl. In this method, Fe3+ is reduced to Fe2+ prior complexed with iron to form a specific color and then flowed it through a marriote bottle next to the spectrophotometer detector. The average flow rate of the liquid in the bottle Marriote amounted to 0.037 mL / sec. Limit detection obtained in the batch is 0.00017 ppm and 0.00023 ppm in simple flow systems analysis methods. Sensitivity obtained in the batch method is 0.027 and the simple flow system analysis method is 0.035. Flow rate precision values are expressed Marriote bottle with Kv values <5%. Values accuracy expreced percenting of recovery was 99% in the batch method, whereas the simple flow system analysis method was 98.5%. Results of t-test analysts suggest that iron determination using flow systems analysis (FIA) with the replacement pump bottle Marriote not differ significantly from the results obtained with the batch system.   Keywords: batch method, bottle Marriote, Flow Injection Analysis, spectrofotometry
