Abstract

One of the important components of motor fuel engine is cylinder liner. There is a compression and friction combustion process with a piston that produces mechanical energy in cylinder liner. This process introduced several problems that often arise, such as wear reducing because the piston is moving back and forth continuously causing gas leakage so that compression pressure is reduced. To prevent such damage it is necessary to coat the metal with other material that has better wear resistance. This study used FeCrMnNiCSi coating material deposited on Gray cast iron FC 25 by thermal arc spray method to analyze the influence of pressure air variation on morphology and mechanical properties. SEM analysis showed that the higher pressure on the coating process results smaller particles thereby decreasing the porosity. Roughness testing also showed a decrease in the higher pressure, at a pressure of 6 bar of 127.333 μm. Microhardness showed that the 6 bar pressure indicating hardness was 639.8 HV. At 6 bar pressure also obtained the highest abrasion resistance value is 29.66 rotation / mg. The value of adhesion strength in the 4 bar pressure variables shows the optimum value compared with other pressure variations of 15.02 MPa. Abstract

Pangkalan Sub-district is a forest edge area in Karawang that is rich in flora and fauna that has not been much identified. Because of its unique location that is bordered by primary forest, agricultural ecosystems in the area will not be separated from the influence of the surrounding forest. So, it is necessary to know more about the diversity and abundance of insects in the wetland rice ecosystems. The research was conducted in Pangkalan sub-district, Karawang regency. The size of each plot was 5 x 5 m (25 m2) and each treatment was repeated five times. Treatments carried out with integrated pest management (IPM), chemical pest management techniques (P-K), and Mixed Pest Management (P-C). Insect retrieval technique using sweep net method, yellow pan trap, and direct observation. The abundance of arthropod species found in 12 Orders consist of: Thysanoptera Order (2.4%), Orthoptera (0.5%), Odonata (1.4%), Mantodea (0%), Lepidoptera (8.7%), Hymenoptera (2.4%), Hemiptera (61.8%), Diptera (2.4%), Derma ptera (3.6%), Coleoptera (8.3%), Architaenioglossa (0.5%), and Aranea (8.0%). Based on the species richness, it was found that the orders of Diptera (25 species), Coleoptera (19 species), and Hymenoptera (18 species) showed higher numbers than other orders. The H 'diversity index in this study ranged from 1.99 to 2.45, the D index ranged from 0.73 to 0.88, and the E index ranged from 0.5 to 0.7. Overall the P-K plots showed a lower population abundance compared to IPM and P-C plots. Intense and scheduled spraying of insecticides on P-K plots causes a lower population abundance, which makes the diversity become low. Abstract

Saxena-Easo Fuzzy Time Series (FTS) is a softcomputing method for forecasting using fuzzy concept. It doesn’t need any assumption like conventional forecasting method. Generally it’s focused on three important steps like percentage change as the universe of discourse, interval partition, and defuzzification. In this research, this method is applied to Indonesia’s inflation rate data. The aim of this research is to forecast Indonesia’s inflation rate in 2017 by using input from Autoregressive Integrated Moving Average (ARIMA) process, Saxena-Easo FTS, and actual data from 1970-2016. ARIMA is focused on four steps like identifying, parameter estimation, diagnostic checking, and forecasting. The result for Indonesia’s inflation rate forecasting in 2017 is about 5.9182 using Saxena-Easo FTS. Root Mean Square Error (RMSE) is also computed to compare the accuracy rate from each method between Saxena-Easo FTS and ARIMA. RMSE from Saxena-Easo FTS is about 0.9743 while ARIMA is about 6.3046. Keywords: saxena-easo fuzzy time series, ARIMA, inflation rate, RMSE.

Abstract

The river is one of the important water sources and at this time the river water quality has decreased. The type of land use around the river is thought to have a significant contribution to river water quality. This research was conducted to determine of correlation between the type of land use and water quality in Rembangan River, Jember Regency. The study was carried out at four stations that passed through secondary forests, coffee plantations, rice fields and residential housing. The data of biodiversity and density of plants and physical-chemical parameters of river water were noted, and benthic macroinvertebratessamples were collected at each station. Data of biodiversity and density plants were used to determine of environmental services index (ESI) values. Benthic macroinvertebrates samples were identifiedat the family level, and after that the tolerance score and the abundance of each family was determined. The last two data were analyzed to determine of Family Biotic Index (FBI) values. The value of ESI, physico-chemical parameters of river waterand FBI were analyzedto determine the relationship between these variables by using Pearson correlation analysis (α < 0.05).The research result revealed that the type of land use (ESI) was significantly related to the biological quality of river water (FBI) as indicated by the p value > 0.05. The correlation characteristic is negative and very strong (R = 0.886). High ESI values indicate that the diversity and carbon sequestration of plant community around the river are in good condition and vice versa. Low HBI values indicate good river water quality and vice versa. Based on this research, each land use type must provide space for the natural growth of the plant communityto maintain the quality of river water to remain good. Keywords: river, benthic macroinvertebrates, land use, water quality, ESI, HBI.

Abstract

The aim of this study was to determine the effect of binder and disintegrant excipients toward tablet properties of levofloxacin as the latter tends to suffer brittle fracture upon compression. The excipients used were povidone K-30 as the binder and sodium starch glycolate (SSG) as the disintegrant which the tablets were formulated according to factorial design 22 with two factors and two levels on each factor. Four formulas were prepared by wet granulation method using 2 and 4% of each povidone K-30 and sodium starch glycolate in various compositions. Tablet properties were evaluated for its hardness, friability, and disintegration time as well as dissolution profile. The data obtained was statistically analyzed using Minitab® 17 software to optimize the formulation and resulted in different impacts caused by each excipient. Povidone K-30 exhibited an increment in hardness, friability, disintegration time but a decrease indissolution profile of levofloxacin tablet. SSG decreased hardnessand disintegration time, but increased friability and dissolution profile of levofloxacin tablet. Overlaid contour plot showed that the optimal formula regarding tablet properties of friability, disintegration time, and dissolution profile is in composition of 2.01% povidone K-30 and 2.01% sodium starch glycolate. Keywords: levofloxacin tablet, povidone K-30, sodium starch glycolate, factorial design.
