Abstract

This study analyzes the effects of marketing strategy and the ease of use of the MyPertamina application on purchasing decisions for Pertamax, with customer satisfaction as a mediating variable in Medan City. A quantitative approach was employed using SEM-PLS with a sample of 100 MyPertamina users. The results indicate that marketing strategy has a positive and significant effect on customer satisfaction and on purchasing decisions. The ease of use of the application has a positive and significant effect on customer satisfaction, but it does not directly affect purchasing decisions. Customer satisfaction has a positive and significant effect on purchasing decisions and mediates the effects of marketing strategy and ease of use on purchasing decisions. These findings emphasize that improving purchasing decisions is more effectively achieved by strengthening customer satisfaction, both through marketing strategies and by enhancing the application’s ease of use. Practically, PT Pertamina should optimize its digital marketing and develop a MyPertamina application that is simple, reliable, and user-experience oriented to encourage Pertamax purchases.

Abstract

This study explores the relevance of Imam al-Ghazali’s concepts of justice and balance in shaping a modern sharia-based economic system that is ethical, sustainable, and welfare-oriented. The research is grounded in a qualitative descriptive approach by analyzing al-Ghazali’s primary works alongside contemporary literature on Islamic economics. The findings show that al-Ghazali places justice as the essential foundation of economic life, emphasizing fairness in transactions, honesty, protection of rights, and the elimination of exploitation. His concept of balance highlights the importance of moderation, the avoidance of economic extremities, and the preservation of social stability. These principles strongly correspond with modern concerns regarding moral crises, inequality, market instability, and the need for ethical governance. The study concludes that al-Ghazali’s ethical framework provides substantial guidance for constructing economic policies that integrate spiritual values with economic rationality. His holistic perspective on human welfare, rooted in maslahah, demonstrates that economic development must incorporate both material and moral dimensions to achieve sustainable prosperity. The research contributes to the discourse on Islamic economics by offering a contemporary reinterpretation of classical thought and reinforcing its significance for addressing economic challenges in the modern era.

Abstract

This study aims to examine the effect of attendance, e-performance application, and employee income supplementation on employee performance. Quantitative paradigms and deductive reasoning were used in this study, developing a conceptual model based on previous empirical results and theoretical studies, which was then tested using structural equation modeling. The population in this study was the entire Public Works and Spatial Planning Agency of North Sumatra Province, totaling 985 employees. The sample was determined using the Slovin formula, resulting in a total of 169 respondents. Data were collected using a questionnaire in the form of a Google Form. The data collected in this study were analyzed using the PLS-SEM-based structural equation modeling method, which is a form of structural modeling to explain the patterns of relationships between variables, both directly and partially, and also to test the conceptual framework proposed in the study. The results showed that all proposed hypotheses were accepted. Attendance, e-performance, and employee supplementary income significantly impact employee performance at the Public Works and Spatial Planning Agency of North Sumatra Province, directly or partially.

Abstract

This study examines the influence of internal factors such as Capital Adequacy Ratio (CAR), Financing to Deposit Ratio (FDR), Operating Expenses to Operating Income (BOPO), Non-Performing Financing (NPF), and Bank Size on Profitability, represented by Return on Assets (ROA), in Islamic Commercial Banks authorized by the Financial Services Authority (Otoritas Jasa Keuangan or OJK) in Indonesia Using quarterly data spanning 2021–2024 from 14 Islamic commercial banks—yielding 206 observations through purposive sampling—and employing a Fixed Effect Model panel data regression approach, this research aims to capture financial performance dynamics in a more granular and timely manner compared to the annual data predominantly used in prior studies. The novelty of this study lies in the adoption of quarterly data, which provides greater sensitivity to short-term economic fluctuations and seasonal effects in the post-pandemic and post-merger era, as well as the explicit inclusion of Bank Size as an independent variable—rather than merely as a control variable as in most previous research—allowing for a direct examination of its role in driving profitability. The analysis results indicate that only BOPO has a significant negative effect on ROA, while CAR, FDR, NPF, and Bank Size are insignificant. Practical implications include recommendations for bank management to optimize operational cost control and for OJK regulators to strengthen adaptive policies addressing short-term economic fluctuations.

Abstract

The development of Islamic banking in Indonesia has accelerated following the merger of Bank Syariah Indonesia (BSI), but remains fraught with debate over the high financing margins compared to conventional bank interest rates. This study aims to analyze and compare the real costs of financing Home Ownership Loans (KPR) between BSI and conventional banks using the pure annuity method, assuming extreme margin levels and non-promotional interest rates for a 10-year term. The research approach used is an exploratory case study with qualitative methods, supported by secondary data from official banking reports and financing calculation simulations. The results show that conventional mortgages tend to result in lower total costs under stable interest rates, but this advantage is conditional due to the risk of floating interest rates. In contrast, Islamic financing at BSI offers installment certainty and protection from repricing risk through fixed margins. These findings confirm that differences in financing costs reflect differences in risk structures and pricing mechanisms, not simply the cost of financing products.

Abstract

It was observed that the poverty rate in Bondowoso Regency declined from 2020 to 2024, indicating that poverty has gradually been alleviated and community welfare has improved. This study aims to: (1) analyze the direct effect of productive zakat utilization by the National Zakat Agency (BAZNAS) of Bondowoso Regency on the welfare of MSMEs from a maqashid sharia perspective; (2) examine the direct effect of BAZNAS empowerment on MSME welfare from a maqashid sharia perspective; and (3) analyze the indirect effect of productive zakat utilization on MSME welfare from a maqashid sharia perspective, with BAZNAS empowerment serving as a mediating variable. This study employed a quantitative research approach with an explanatory design. The population included 130 mustahik (zakat beneficiaries). Using the Isaac and Michael table with a 5% margin of error, a sample of 95 respondents was chosen through purposive sampling. Data collection involved observation, documentation, and questionnaires. The data were analyzed using Partial Least Squares (PLS). The findings indicate that productive zakat utilization has a significant positive effect on MSME welfare from a maqashid sharia perspective. However, BAZNAS empowerment in Bondowoso Regency does not have a significant effect on MSME welfare from a maqashid sharia perspective. In addition, productive zakat utilization has a significant effect on BAZNAS empowerment. Nevertheless, productive zakat utilization does not have an indirect effect on MSME welfare through BAZNAS empowerment as a mediating variable. Keywords: Productive Zakat Utilization, Welfare, BAZNAS Empowerment, and Maqashid Sharia

Abstract

Abstract

Islamic philanthropy plays a strategic role in supporting social welfare and poverty alleviation through the instrument of zakat, which is based on philosophical values. However, the implementation of these values often varies between institutions, thus requiring an in-depth study in a local context. This research aims to analyze the application of the philosophical values of Islamic philanthropy, including justice, trustworthiness, brotherhood, balance, and public interest, as well as the role of zakat in improving the welfare of mustahik at BAZNAS Pariaman city. The method used is a qualitative approach with a case study design through observation, in-depth interviews, and documentation. The results show that BAZNAS Kota Pariaman not only applies professional governance through mustahik verification, routine audits, and the utilization of various fundraising channels, but also emphasizes spiritual values in the development of mustahik and public services. The discussion reveals that philanthropic practices in this institution are in line with previous research emphasizing the importance of integrating the values of justice, trustworthiness, and public interest in the effectiveness of zakat programs. In conclusion, BAZNAS Pariaman city has successfully implemented the philosophical values of Islamic philanthropy comprehensively, thereby providing material and spiritual impacts for beneficiaries and strengthening public trust.
