Abstract

This research investigates the impact of both traditional and virtual social capital on community resilience, with engagement on social media as a mediating variable. The study surveyed 397 inhabitants of an urban sub-district in Palembang, Indonesia, and analyzed the data using the structural equation model partial least square (SEM-PLS) technique. The results indicate that it is critical to prioritize and activate various forms of social capital to enhance community resilience during the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) pandemic. The analysis showed that social media engagement had a significant positive impact on community resilience (p<0.05), however the influence of virtual bonding social capital was negligible and negatively skewed (p=0.084). It is significant to note that community resilience was significantly positively impacted by both traditional bonding and bridging social capital (both p<0.05). Social media involvement was also markedly positively impacted by virtual bonding and bridging social capital (both p<0.05). The link between virtual bonding, bridging social capital, and community resilience was strongly influenced by social media use in terms of mediation (both p<0.05). This emphasizes how important social capital, both physical and digital, and particularly social media participation, are to building community resilience during pandemics.

Abstract

Home-based care can be effective, efficient, safe, and affordable, if this care is performed using a patient-centered approach. Patient-centered care prioritizes the patient’s needs and preferences. The issue of patient-centered care remains the focus of various parties. This study aimed to explore the expectations of patients who have experienced a stroke, their family caregivers as recipients of home-based care services and healthcare workers as home-based care providers. This study used a qualitative explorative model. Semi-structured interviews were conducted with 19 participants, in addition to 4 focus group discussions. Data was analyzed using a content analysis approach with open code 13 software and the results were presented in COREQ systematics for qualitative studies. There were four main themes present in the results: physical well-being, self-actualization, psychological condition and balance between family burden and coping. Physical limitations were highlighted as the most burden some for the majority of the participants. At the time of the study, the majority of the patients, their family and health workers were diligently working towards to achieving the best outcome regarding physical well-being. Physical well-being is a fundamental need. Reaching this goal, could lead to better self-actualization, better physiological condition and improving the burden on families. This study may be useful as preliminary data to compile a home-based care construct indicators for stroke patients.

Abstract

Patient safety is the most crucial health service orientation. An appropriate clinical risk management system is needed to sustain the safety culture in the hospital. This study aimed to examine the implementation of the caring safety model (CSM) in reducing the adverse events (AEs) in patients. A quasi-experimental design (pretest-posttest control group design) was conducted, involving samples in two hospitals in Indonesia. Nurses in the experimental group followed the CSM training and applied it to nursing care, while nurses in the control group followed the standard care. AEs were assessed on indicators of medication error, patient falls, phlebitis, decubitus, and surgical site infection. The implementation of CSM was evaluated for it is impact on AEs reduction. CSM-based care could reduce AEs in patients better than standard care. The final observation variable of the experimental and the control groups resulted in a value of sig of

Abstract

Modern pharmaceutical services are offered via telepharmacy, an internet platform. Identification of items and factors that influence people's behavioral intentions towards telepharmacy services is needed to develop this service. The study aims to develop a questionnaire based on a research model that combines two well-known theories: the theory of personal health differences (TPHD) and the theory of planned behavior (TPB) technique. The purposive sampling strategy was combined with a cross-sectional observational method. 116 participants who were at least 18 years old were given the questionnaire. Convenience sampling from various population subgroups was used to select them. Data analysis was then conducted using the exploratory factor analysis (EFA). Factors were extracted using varimax rotation and principal component analysis. The results showed that the questionnaire consists of 16 items divided into 5 constructs (attitude and self-efficacy, behavioral intention, subjective norm, personal health status, and personal health value), this study proves that the behavioral intention telepharmacy questionnaire based on personal health differences and planned behavior theory is a reliable and valid measure. It can also draw attention to the many aspects of adoption behavior, helping service providers toward the successful digitalization of pharmaceutical services by fostering telepharmacy literacy. The application of telepharmacy is both a hope and a challenge for pharmacists and society, especially in terms of the intention to provide safe and quality pharmaceutical care.

Abstract

The increase in the elderly brings consequences, including a higher risk of disease. Inappropriate nutritional intake is also known as one of the risk factors related to the elderly's non-communicable diseases, and nutritional intervention is essential to improve the elderly nutritional status and quality of life. It was an interventional study with a before-after one-group approach. The study was conducted for three months (October-December 2021) in three social retirement homes. The intervention given was supplementation with additional protein sources and snacks each day. The biochemistry profiles were taken 2 times: before and after three months of intervention, comprised of HbA1c, lipid, transferrin, creatinine, and blood pressure level. The data will be analyzed for its normality before being processed with paired t-test or Wilcoxon signed rank based on the normality results. The analysis results show that there are significantly lower transferrin levels (p=0.040), an increase in cholesterol level (p=0.000), and low-density lipoprotein (LDL) level increased from 114.05±32.03 to 125.94±31.41 (p=0.000). There is also a remarkable decrease in hemoglobin (p=0.005) and high-density lipoprotein (HDL) levels. Conversely, there are an increase in HbA1C (p=0.007) and triglyceride level (p=0.005). There is no significant difference in creatinine level. We conclude that nutrition interventions have a significant effect on elderly blood profiles. However, to achieve an improvement, the study should consider physical activity and other variables that might be altering the results.

Abstract

Besides the benefits of breastfeeding, the number of children exclusively breastfed was still low. The mother's breastfeeding decision might be influenced by breastfeeding support and preparation. The decision also might influence the mother's satisfaction and the child's well-being. Thus, to minimize the adverse effect of the decision, it is essential to identify the factors associated with mother satisfaction on their breastfeeding status. This study aimed to understand the correlation between breastfeeding support and preparation on mother's satisfaction with the infant's breastfeeding status. This study was a cross-sectional, observational study held in Yogyakarta, Indonesia. The inclusion criteria were the mother of a baby aged 6 to 24 months who lived in Yogyakarta City and was willing to join the research. A total of 150 respondents, mostly aged 19-40 years, joined the study. Spouse support is most influential on breastfeeding (BF) status. Mother's satisfaction with infant feeding choices was influenced by BF status, husband's support, and healthcare support. Husband support is essential for the mother to achieve exclusive breastfeeding and meet maternal satisfaction. Appropriate healthcare personnel support positively impacts maternal satisfaction by providing information and encouraging mothers to make informed infant feeding decision-making.

Abstract

Insufficient knowledge and information about mental health hinders the optimal use of adolescent mental health services. This qualitative case study aims to describe the utilization of adolescent mental health services (MHS) from the perspective of healthcare providers in primary health care (PHC). The primary informants were psychologists and youth care health services (YCHS) coordinators, while the triangulated informants comprised adolescents; they were selected using the purposive sampling technique. This research employs primary data collected through focus group discussions with the primary informants and in-depth interviews with the triangulated informants. The study results reported that there is no PHC providing MHS specifically designed for adolescents. Further, as low mental health literacy and stigma from parents were identified as challenges, peer support was detected to be the reinforcing factors for adolescents to access MHS. Hence, mental health literacy must be integrated into the school curriculum so that adolescent self-diagnosis does not occur.

Abstract

Breast cancer is one of the leading causes of death among females today. The elbow approach determines the ideal number of clusters after determining that the Dataset is highly cluster able with the Hopkins statistic. Three distinct groups with distinct differences were produced using the dataset's proposed expectation maximization fuzzy k-means clustering algorithm (PEMFKM). Different fuzzy clustering techniques, such as fuzzy k-means (FKM), fuzzy k-means with entropy (FKM.ENT), fuzzy k-means with entropy and noise (FKM.ENT.NOISE), Gustafson and Kessel - like fuzzy k-means (FKM.GK), Gustafson and Kessel - like fuzzy k-means with entropy regularization (FKM.GK.ENT), Gustafson and Kessel - like fuzzy kmeans with entropy regularization and noise (FKM.GK.ENT.NOISE), and PEMFKM, are evaluated. The partition coefficient (PC), partition entropy (PE), and Modified partition coefficient index (MPC) index values are better for FKM.GK than the suggested PEMFKM method. When compared to the FKM.GK method, the index values for the proposed PEMFKM algorithm have superior results for the parameters Silhouette (SIL), Xie and Beni index (XB), and fuzzy silhouette index (SIL.F). The results shows that the PEMFKM algorithm will provide better clusters and that the drugs in a given cluster may be combined for use in combination therapy for breast cancer treatment.

Abstract

The participation of teenagers in inappropriate social actions is linked to the disregard for their mental health. This research was carried out to assess how a psychospiritual program impacts the reduction of depression, anxiety, and stress among delinquent adolescents. The study employed a quasi-experimental design, utilizing a single group for pretest-posttest evaluation. In this study, 36 delinquent adolescents who were females (N=36) and were enrolled in an Approved School in Terengganu, Malaysia, participated. The analysis was conducted through paired sample t-tests. The level of depression, anxiety, and stress before and after the psychospiritual program was assessed using the clinical scale for depression, anxiety, and stress (DASS-21). The results showed that the level of depression, anxiety and stress had decreased as much as 0.7619, 1.4643 and 0.7937 respectively after joining the program which was less than 0.05 (p=0.000 ≤0.05). This implies that the psychospiritual program exerts a significant influence in reducing depression, anxiety, and stress levels among adolescent delinquents. As a result, it is prudent to explore the psychospiritual approach as a potential alternative to the conventional allopathic intervention for addressing depression, anxiety, and stress problems especially among female delinquent adolescents at approved schools who have similar criterion.

Abstract

Girls generally use less physical aggression than boys. However, does this mean that girls are more likely to use relational aggression. With this question in mind, our study aims to analyze the relational aggression of students in Indonesia based on gender. This type of research used is comparative research. The sample in this study was 510 respondents consisting of 19.6% male and 80.4% female. The relational aggression scale (RAS) was used to collect data on student relational aggression in various regions in Indonesia. The analysis technique used is descriptive and differences with the Welch test. The results show that there are significant differences in male and female relational aggression, with an average score difference of -0.30 logit between men and women. In addition, there are fluctuations in the level of relational aggression in the context of gender from year to year in some countries, such as the United States, China, Australia, and others. Recommendations for future research are to integrate a more in-depth social and cultural analysis in Indonesia.
