Abstract

Diabetes mellitus is a chronic metabolic disorder caused by blood sugar levels exceeding normal limits, namely temporary blood sugar levels equal to or more than 200 mg/dl and fasting blood sugar levels above or equal to 126 mg/dl. Type 2 diabetes mellitus is the most common type. Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus occurs due to progressive damage to the pancreatic β cells which causes the body to be unable to produce insulin and rejects the effects of insulin which is needed as an energy source for the body. One of the complications of diabetes mellitus is a decrease in bone density. The aim of this study was to determine the relationship between family support and dietary compliance in type 2 diabetes mellitus patients at the Medan Sunggal Community Health Center. This research uses quantitative research methods with a correlational design and a cross-sectional research design. The research population was all Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus clients at the Medan Sunggal Community Health Center and samples taken were 23 Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus sufferers taken using the Accidental sampling technique. The independent variable of the research is family support, the dependent variable is adherence to the Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus diet. The results of the study show that there is a significant relationship between family support and diet adherence. It is known that the correlation coefficient is 0.450, which means that the level of strength of the correlation/relationship is that the relationship is quite strong. It is hoped that the community health center will increase education for families to provide support to Diabetes Mellitus 2 sufferers about adhering to the Diabetes Mellitus diet. Key words: Family support, diet compliance, Type 2 diabetes mellitus

Abstract

Hypertension is a vascular disorder that impedes the blood’s oxygen supply to body tissues, posing a serious health risk and a leading cause of premature mortality worldwide. Those affected by hypertension often struggle with anxiety, fear, despair, and sleep disturbances, which can further elevate blood pressure. One therapeutic approach for alleviating anxiety is the five-finger hypnosis technique. This study investigates the effectiveness of five-finger hypnosis therapy in reducing anxiety among hypertension patients at the UPT Helvetia Health Center Medan. Conducted as a quasi-experimental study using a one-group pretest-posttest design, the research sampled 33 respondents through purposive sampling. Data collection utilized the Hamilton Anxiety Rating Scale (HRSA) questionnaire, and results were analyzed with the Paired T-Test and Wilcoxon test. Findings showed a significant effect, with a p-value of 0.001, indicating that five-finger hypnosis therapy effectively reduces anxiety in hypertension patients at the Helvetia Health Center. It is anticipated that this research will encourage broader adoption of the five-finger hypnosis technique to manage anxiety more effectively.

Abstract

Pregnancy is a condition where in a woman's womb there is an embryo or fetus. Physiological changes that pregnant women often experience, such as fatigue, stomach cramps, frequent urination, morning sickness and nausea, vomiting. According to the World Health Organization (WHO), the incidence of nausea and vomiting in the world is 70% -80% of the number of pregnant women. The incidence of emesis gravidarum is at least 15% of all pregnant women. The frequency of morning sickness is not only in the morning but can be in the afternoon or even at night. Based on a preliminary survey conducted at Pratama Vina Clinic in February 2024, 23 pregnant women were found to experience nausea and vomiting. Consuming Ambon Bananas can be a cheap and practical non-pharmacological alternative. The general aim of this research is to determine the relationship between giving Ambon bananas and reducing the intensity of nausea and vomiting in pregnant women in the 1st trimester at Pratama Vina Clinic in 2024. This research is a type of quantitative research with a Quasi-Experimental research design with a One Group Pretest-Posttest design. The population in this study consisted of 15 pregnant women in the first trimester who came for a pregnancy visit. The sampling technique in this research was Accidental Sampling of 15 people. This research used the T-Test to obtain a p-value <0.000. This shows that there is a relationship between giving Ambon bananas to reducing the intensity of nausea and vomiting in pregnant women in the 1st trimester at the Pratama Vina clinic in 2024, due to the effect of the B6 content, the benefits of B6 as a coenzyme for reactions in metabolism, in protein synthesis and metabolism, especially serotonin is useful for reducing nausea, vomiting.

Abstract

Learning achievement is an important indicator in the world of education, which is usually measured through test scores, cumulative achievement index (GPA), and other parameters that reflect students' academic abilities. Various factors can influence learning achievement, such as anemia and nutritional patterns. This study aims to determine the relationship between hemoglobin levels and nutritional patterns and learning achievement. This research uses a descriptive correlational research type with a cross sectional research design with a population of 249 people and a sample of 124 people. The sampling technique used was Proportional Simple Random Sampling, using univariate and bivariate analysis tests. The independent variables are hemoglobin levels and nutritional patterns and the dependent variable is the student achievement index using the Chi Square Test. The results of the analysis using spearmanrank obtained a p value of 0.000. Because the p value of 0.000 is less than 0.05 (p<0.05), this means that statistically there is a relationship between hemoglobin levels and learning achievement.  The results of the analysis using spearmanrank obtained a p value of 0.046. Because the p value of 0.046 is smaller than 0.05 (p<0.05), this means that statistically there is a relationship between nutritional patterns and hemoglobin levels. Educational institutions should provide a routine health examination program that includes measurement of hemoglobin levels. This is important to detect cases of anemia early and carry out the necessary interventions before the condition affects student academic performance.

Abstract

The results of research on the nutritional status of children under two years of age in Indonesia in 2020 were that 1.3% were very underweight and 5.4% were underweight. There was an increase in 2021 which stated that 7.0% of the population under two years old experienced wasting. At the Oesapa Community Health Center, the number of toddlers experiencing nutritional status problems in 2022 in Oesapa will be 64.1%. This shows that nutritional problems are still high. The aim is to analyze the relationship between age, education, income, MUA and BMI of breastfeeding mothers with the nutritional status of babies. This research used a quantitative design with a cross sectional approach and was tested analytically. The research population was 125 mothers who were still breastfeeding babies aged 0-12 years, a sample of 98 respondents. The instruments in this research were questionnaires, observation sheets and scales, Lila tape.. The sampling technique was purposive sampling. The results of statistical tests show that there is no relationship with age (0.395) education (0.769). There is a relationship between family income (0.003), MUA (0.001) and BMI (0.046) with the baby's nutritional status. The conclusion is that there is no relationship between age and education and the nutritional status of babies. There is a relationship between family income, KEK status, BMI and the nutritional status of babies 0-12 months.

Abstract

The World Health Organization (WHO) states that an estimated 6 million children did not receive vaccinations in 2019, and an estimated 25 million children did not receive vaccinations in 2020. Immunization in 2021 prevented 3.5–5 million deaths from diseases such as diphtheria, tetanus, pertussis, influenza, and measles (WHO 2021). The purpose of this study is to determine the relationship between maternal characteristics and knowledge regarding complete basic immunization in infants at the Sehati Clinic. This research is descriptive in nature and uses primary data. The population consists of mothers who bring their babies to receive basic immunization, totaling 20 individuals. The sample was selected using the time sampling method. Data analysis was conducted using univariate, bivariate, and multivariate analyses. Bivariate analysis revealed a significant relationship between age, education, parity, and knowledge with immunization completeness, as determined by the Chi-Square statistical test with a p-value < 0.05. However, there was no significant relationship between maternal occupation and immunization completeness, as the Chi-Square test did not yield a p-value < 0.05. The conclusion from the bivariate analysis is that there is a significant relationship between age, education, parity, and knowledge with immunization completeness, while there is no significant relationship between maternal occupation and immunization completeness. It is recommended that mothers enhance their knowledge about the importance of providing complete basic immunization to their babies through reading books, attending counseling sessions, and consulting with healthcare professionals. Abstract

According to the World Health Organization (WHO) in 2019, neonatal deaths caused by neonatal tetanus in Southeast Asian countries totaled 581 babies, while neonatal tetanus cases in Indonesia in 2019 were reported at 84 babies from 15 provinces, with an increase of 54 cases attributed to risk factors related to umbilical cord care. This study aims to explore the knowledge of pregnant women regarding umbilical cord care for newborns at Pratama Tanjung Delitua Clinic in 2024. The research is descriptive in nature, using primary data obtained directly from respondents. The population in this study consists of all pregnant women at the Pratama Tanjung Delitua Clinic, totaling 20 respondents, with the sample selected using accidental sampling. Data analysis is presented in the form of frequency distribution tables, supported by existing theories and references. The majority of respondents (10 respondents or 50%) were found to have poor knowledge, while a minority (2 respondents or 10%) had sufficient knowledge. Based on age characteristics, the majority with poor knowledge were aged 20–35 years, accounting for 5 respondents (25%). Based on educational background, the majority with poor knowledge had only completed elementary school, totaling 4 respondents (20%). Based on occupation, the majority with poor knowledge were housewives (IRT), amounting to 8 respondents (40%). Based on parity, the majority with poor knowledge were primiparous (first-time mothers), totaling 7 respondents (35%). Lastly, based on information sources, the majority with poor knowledge cited parents and friends as their sources, totaling 9 respondents (45%). It can be concluded that the respondents have insufficient knowledge regarding umbilical cord care for newborns. Therefore, it is recommended that pregnant women improve their knowledge about the importance of umbilical cord care for newborns through better information sources.
