Abstract

The young generation’s preference for rice farming in Galagarum Hamlet, Jambuwer Village, Malang Regencyseems to have undergone significant changes. This research examines the cessation of rice farming education thatpreviously has been passed down from generation to generation, caused by the loss interest of the young generation in agriculture, and the cessation of the local knowledge education program, named ‘Penyuluhan Pelatihan Lapangan (PPL)’ that specialized in rice farming. This research used qualitative methods and an Ethnography approach, involving in-depth interview and participant observation for data collection. Using Anthony Giddens' theory of structuralization, this research proves that agents and social structures are interrelated and can cause social change. The result of this research shows that the disconnection of the farmer generation is caused by the negative stigma that is attached to rice farmers, economic opportunities and many jobs outside agriculture that seems more attractive for the younger generation, and the absence of non-formal education encouragement such as PPL. Youth generation in Galaharum hamlet, Jambuwer village tend to choose to continue their education in Sekolah Menengah Kejuruan (SMK) which offers direct access to jobs in the industrial and mining sectors. As a result, many farmers in Jambuwer Village are forced to choose to hire farm laborers to manage their land, or in some cases, sell it. This research proves that the development of non-formal education, such as rice farming education, is very useful to reengage the young generation's interest in the agrarian sector and maintain the agricultural heritage.

Abstract

The declining interest of the younger generation in mask dance in Jambuwer Village reflects the challenges faced by traditional arts in the era of modernization and globalization. Mask dance, as a cultural heritage full of philosophical and spiritual values, is now starting to lose its relevance in the eyes of the younger generation who are more interested in popular culture. This research uses an ethnographic approach with methods ofparticipant observation, in-depth interviews, and documentation to explore the factors of this decline in interest. The research shows that modernization, social media, and cultural innovations such as mberot and sound horeg are themain factors causing the shift in cultural preferences. On the other hand, lack of regeneration and support from family and government also exacerbate the situation. However, art workers in Jambuwer Village show a form of resistance through adaptive strategies, such as utilizing social media, formal education approaches, and the integration of contemporary elements in dance performances. These efforts reflect the importance of synergy between conservative and innovative approaches in traditional art preservation. Mask dance preservation requires active collaboration from various parties to bridge tradition and modernity, so that this art remains relevant and can be passed on to future generations.

ABSTRACT "Unreasonableness" art project conducted by starting from some problems faced by the Kentjingandjing, which is (1) The problems of an art exhibition management, which includes issues of funding, human resources, and infrastructure of the arts, (2) public view towards the "function"of art, and (3) artist awareness as a scientist. This projects conducted by implementing scientific methods of art creation, which consists of three stages: 1) Internalization and Incubation of Idea; 2) The formulation of the concept of Creation; and 3) Creation of Art. The conclusion that this activity has effectively become the solution of the issues surrounding the management of art, but to raise awareness of the arts in society, this activity still requires massification, or at least is sustainable activities in which various disciplines can be involved. Besides, the scientific method that implemented in this activity is effective by some of the artists, but some argue the use of methods that 'rigid' like this, would handcuff the idea of creation, in addition to the lack of flexibility for the fluctuations which may occur in the process of artistic creation.

Abstract

ABSTRAK This thesis entitled "The Construction of Cultural Identity of Wong Ngapak through the consumption of local media in Banyumasan dialect" which studied the use of radio Programme "Curanmor" by three students from Cilacap in Yogyakarta and the positioning of their cultural identity through central and periphery perspective. The study applied ethnographic research methods in the context of data collection and to explain the patterns and cultural practices of the student from Cilacap in consuming media. In order to analyse the data, author implemented theory of Media Consumption, Cultural Identity and Central -  Periphery Perspective. The approach used in this audience study is based on the model of audience-as-agent which considers the audience as an active agent. Audiences consumed media "Curanmor" to construct their cultural identity in Yogyakarta by (1) "Curanmmor" as a cultural symbol for Banyumasan community; (2) "Curanmor" is used as a 'going back home' experience, (3) "Curanmor" as the media to strenghten Banyumasan Culture dan dialect, (4) Curanmor "as a 'cultural distinctiveness' ; (5)" Curanmor "as soft-resistance of the marginalization of Banyumasan culture. The five ways of the use of these media are forms of the construction of cultural identity that may erode the negative images and stereotypes of the Banyumasan language and culture in the region of Yogyakarta as a result of the unequal binary perspective, central and periphery. Yogyakarta and its culture is considered as central ("the Self"), while the culture and Ngapak language regarded as "the Other". By constructing and reconstructing cultural identity, it is expected that the culture and Ngapak language are no longer marginalised in the context of Javanese culture itself. Each culture may raise without any domination of one culture to others.

Abstract

Abstract Entertainment programs on TV have become the daily consumption of entertainment community. Moreover, TV entertainment has become a new 'truth' for the life value of the viewer community. The presence of varied entertainment programs such as sitcoms, soap operas and infotainment able to get into the mindset of TV viewers. Be aware or not, variants of the entertainment program can affect the pattern of community life who consume it.Furthermore, it is believed that the variant of entertainment in a variety of television shows is not present without a specified formulaik structure. As with many aspects of life, the motion of human civilization is believed to have a skeletal structure that manifests various forms of life and life. Following the view of modern structuralism raised by the linguist from Switzerland, Ferdinand de Saussure, the existence of all that is 'ordered' and touched by the human senses is composed of two important parts of internal structure and external structure. In the language paradigm underlying Saussure's thought, language has two important parts: the Langue (inner structure) and the Parole (the outer / surface structure) that manifest the internal struture. A research on the formulary structure of the entertainment show needs to be done to find out how to structure the langue over the various pares that we enjoy as well as to see how the media contribute to the creation of such formulaik structures.
