Abstract

Writing is a skill that must be mastered by students. These language skills are useful for writing a thesis as a final assignment for students to get a bachelor's degree (master and / or doctorate). In thesis writing, spelling, and sentences used are standard and effective sentences so that readers easily understand the intent of the author. This study aims to describe mistakes in writing spelling, terminology, and writing mistakes in the thesis of UB's Faculty of Arts students. This study uses qualitative research with a case study design to obtain a description of the data. The results of this study reveal that the most common language errors are found, namely spelling errors used by students in the thesis. The spelling mistakes were 52.03% the use of punctuation, 39.53% word writing, and 0.08% letter writing, while sentence writing errors were found in aspects of structural incompatibility, inequality, inaccuracy, incoherence, disparity, and incoherence in the sentence .

Abstract

Abstrak Pengabdian kepada masyarakat ini difokuskan untuk  membangun citra desa Toyomarto sebagai desa Air melalui media spot mural. Pengabdian ini didasari  dari keberadaan Desa Toyomarto yang selama ini telah memiliki situs bersejarah yang menjadi tujuan wisata, yaitu Situs Sumberawan. Melihat potensi sejarah dan budaya yang kental pada Desa Toyomarto serta belum terdapatnya spot foto yang instagrammable, kami berupaya memberikan kontribusi berupa pembuatan mural berbasis budaya dan sejarah bagi Desa Toyomarto. Mural tersebut diharapkan dapat menjadi spot foto yang menambah daya tarik wisatawan untuk mengunjungi Situs Sumberawan sekaligus memberikan pembelajaran sejarah dan budaya bagi masyarakat dan para pengunjung. Hasil pengabdian berupa pembuatan spot mural memberikan dampak positif bagi masyarakat desa Toyomarto. Dampak positif dari pembuatan spot mural ini adalah dapat meningkatkan  kesejahteraan ekonomi masyarakat secara tidak langsung tanpa meninggalkan esensi pembelajaran sejarah dan budaya.Kata Kunci: mural, atraksi wisata, toyomarto Abstract  This community service is focused on building the image of Toyomarto village as an Air village through spot mural media. This service is based on the existence of Toyomarto Village which has had historical sites which have become tourist destinations, namely the Sumberawan Site. Seeing the historical and cultural potential that is thick in Toyomarto Village and the absence of instagrammable photo spots, we try to make a contribution in the form of making a culture and history-based mural for Toyomarto Village. The mural is expected to be a photo spot that adds to the attractiveness of tourists to visit the Sumberawan Site as well as provide historical and cultural lessons for the community and visitors. The result of dedication in the form of making a spot mural has a positive impact on the people of Toyomarto village. The positive impact of making this spot mural is that it can improve the economic welfare of the community indirectly without leaving the essence of historical and cultural learning.Keywords: murals, tourist attractions, toyomarto

Abstract

Abstrak. Menulis merupakan keterampilan yang harus dikuasai oleh mahasiswa. Keterampilan berbahasa ini berguna untuk menulis skripsi sebagai tugas akhir mahasiswa dalam meraih gelar sarjana (magister dan atau doktor). Dalam penulisan skripsi, ejaan, dan kalimat yang digunakan merupakan kalimat yang baku dan efektif agar pembaca mudah memahami maksud penulis. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mendeskripsikan kesalahan menulis ejaan, peristilahan, dan kesalahan menulis kalimat pada skripsi mahasiswa Fakultas Ilmu Budaya Universitas Brwijaya.Penelitian ini menggunakan penelitian kualiatif dengan rancangan studi kasus untuk memperoleh deskripsi data. Hasil penelitian ini mengungkap bahwa  kesalahan berbahasa yang paling banyak ditemukan, yaitu kesalahan ejaan yang digunakan oleh mahasiswa dalam skripsi. Kesalahan ejaan tersebut berupa pemakaian tanda baca sebanyak 52,03%, penulisan kata 39,53%, dan penulisan huruf 0,08%. Sedangkan kesalahan penulisan kalimat ditemukan pada aspek ketidaksepadanan struktur, ketidakhematan, ketidakcermatan, ketidakpaduan, ketidakparalelan, dan ketidaklogisan dalam kalimat.Kata kunci: Kesalahan kalimat, kesalahan ejaan, kalimat bakuAbstract. This study uses qualitative research with a case study design to obtain data descriptions. The results of this study revealed that the most common language errors were found, namely the spelling errors used by students in the thesis. The spelling errors were in the form of using punctuation as many as 52.03%, word writing 39.53%, and letter writing 0.08%. While writing errors found in aspects of structural incompatibility, imprecision, disobedience, non-alignment, incongruity, and irrationality in sentences.Keywords: Sentence errors, spelling errors, standard sentences

Abstract

Abstrak Program hiburan di TV telah menjadi konsumsi hiburan keseharian masyarakat. Lebih dari itu hiburan TV telah menjadi ‘kebenaran’ baru bagi nilai kehidupan masyarakat pemirsa.Kehadiran beragam varian program hiburan seperti komedi situasi, sinetron dan infoteinmen mampu masuk ke dalam pola pikir pemirsa TV.Disadari atau tidak varian program hiburan tersebut dapat mempengaruhi pola hidup masyarakat yang mengkonsumsinya.Selanjutnya, diyakini bahwa kehadiran varian hiburan dalam ragam tayangan televisi tidak tanpa struktur tertentu yang formulaik.Seperti halnya berbagai aspek kehidupan, gerak peradaban manusia diyakini memiliki struktur kerangka yang memanifestasikan beragam bentuk hidup dan kehidupan. Mengikuti pandangan strukturalisme modern yang dimunculkan oleh ahli bahasa dari Swis, Ferdinand de Saussure, keberadaan segala yang ‘menyata’ dan tersentuh oleh indera manusia tersusun atas dua bagian penting yaitu struktur dalam dan struktur luar. Dalam paradigma bahasa yang menjadi dasar pemikiran Saussure, bahasa memiliki dua bagian penting yaitu Langue(struktur dalam)dan Parole(struktur luar/permukaan) yang menjadi manifestasi strutur dalamnya.Penelitian  mengenai struktur yang formulaik atas tayangan hiburan tersebut perlu dilakukan untuk mengetahui bagaimana struktur langue atas berbagai parole yang kita nikmati sekaligus melihat bagaimana media berkontribusi pada penciptaan struktur formulaik tersebut. Kata kunci: sinetron, struktur formulaik

Abstract

To meet the need for cheap textbooks, the government took the initiative to compile School Electronic Books (hereinafter abbreviated as BSE). However, their popularity is still far behind other commercial books, for example the book published by Erlangga. This fact raises questions regarding the quality of BSE. If so, there is an indication that the quality of BSE is lower than the books published by Erlangga so that it is more of an option than the free BSE. This indication can be formulated by questions (1) Is the quality of BSE lower than Erlangga? (2) how is the suitability of HOTS questions?, (3) is BSE less suitable with HOTS compared to Erlangga ?, and (4) based on the two previous studies it can be concluded that the questions using HOTS have good quality in evaluating students. Meanwhile, in fact, there are still textbooks that have not fully used HOTS (Maharani [2015] and Julianingsih [2017]). This research uses a qualitative approach. The data obtained is in the form of qualitative data sourced from teaching materials for school electronic books (BSE) in the subject of Indonesian language class X SMA revision edition 2017. The data in this study are assessments used or generated by teaching materials in electronic school books (BSE). From the assessment, the types of assessment are analyzed, the operational verbs used, and the suitability of the operational verbs used with HOTS. Keywords: textbooks, BSE book, HOTS compatibility

Abstract

Product differentiation is learning based on multiple approaches to assignments given to students. It gives students the freedom to develop the understanding and competencies they are interested in. The existence of different learning tools in the Merdeka curriculum is the goal of achieving understanding and developing competence. This study focuses on describing the concept of differentiation learning to accommodate differences in student learning styles and describes product differentiation innovations on ‘alih wahana’ learning of observation report text. This study used a qualitative approach and a literature review design. The data are in quotations, theories, and paradigms describing the studied problems. Data was collected using reading and note-taking techniques and processed using analytical techniques in the form of (a) data presentation; (b) data reduction; (c) data interpretation; and (d) conclusion. The results of this study are, first, learning differentiation as a learning strategy. This strategy targets a variety of student learning styles through content, processes, and products according to characteristics to achieve goals. Second, product differentiation can be designed using the ‘alih wahana’ method in observation reports text material in the form of informative video media, infographics, and scrapbooks.

Abstract

Penggunaan bahasa pada nama TPU identik dengan karakteristik agama, budaya, sistem sosial, sejarah, lokalitas, dan intervensi pemerintah setempat. Penelitian ini bertujuan menginvestigasi hadirnya fungsi informasi dan simbolis dari sistem penamaan TPU di Kota Malang. Data diambil dari 102 teks papan nama pada 42 TPU yang tersebar di lima kecamatan di Kota Malang, yaitu Kecamatan Klojen, Lowokwaru, Blimbing, Sukun, dan Kedung Kandang dengan teknik dokumentasi (foto). Data diklasifikasikan berdasarkan Top-Down dan Bottom-Up guna melihat bentuk dan pola penggunaan bahasa keduanya. Analisis data menggunakan teori lanskap linguistik ancangan Landry dan Bourhis (1997). Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa pola Bottom Up mendominasi kemunculan. Pada bentuk penggunaan bahasa, hasil analisis menunjukkan ada tiga bentuk yang muncul, yaitu monolingual, bilingual, dan multilingual dengan sembilan pola penggunaan bahasa. Bahasa Indonesia, bahasa Jawa, dan bahasa Arab terlibat dalam semua pola. Ini mengindikasikan bahwa TPU di Kota Malang identik simbol kompetensi bahasa, dominasi masyarakat muslim, dan kehadiran simbol Jawa. Teks-teks tersebut juga memberi pesan informasi atas sistem penamaan pemakaman, perintah/larangan, nasihat, dan petunjuk arah/lokasi. Simbol-simbol yang terwujud dalam penggunaan bahasa: bahasa Indonesia sebagai simbol kompetensi bahasa dan kebijakan bahasa; bahasa Jawa menunjukkan simbol vitalitas kelompok dan sakralistik; bahasa Arab sebagai simbol entitas agama Islam; bahasa Inggris sebagai simbol industri wisata religi; bahasa Jepang membangun simbol masa lalu dalam dark tourism.Kata Kunci: lanskap linguistik, Tempat Pemakaman Umum, Kota Malang, teks ruang publik Message and Identity Symbols Behind Death:Linguistic Landscape in Public Areas of Public Cemetery in Malang City AbstractThe language used in the name of PC is closely related to the characteristics of religion, culture, social systems, history, locality, and intervention of the local government. This research aims to investigate the presence of information and symbolic functions of the naming system of PC in Malang City. The data were collected from 102 name board texts in 42 PCs spread across five districts in Malang City, namely Klojen, Lowokwaru, Blimbing, Sukun, and Kedung Kandang, using documentation techniques (photos). The data was classified based on Top-Down and Bottom-Up to see the form and pattern of language usage. Data analysis used the linguistic landscape theory proposed by Landry and Bourhis (1997). The results showed that the Bottom-Up pattern dominated the appearances. Regarding language use, the analysis results showed that there were three forms that appeared, namely monolingual, bilingual, and multilingual, with nine language use patterns. Indonesian, Javanese, and Arabic were involved in all patterns. This indicates that PC in Malang City is synonymous with language competence symbols, Muslim community domination, and the presence of Javanese symbols. These texts also convey information messages regarding the naming system of burial sites, orders/prohibitions, advice, and direction/location guidance. Symbols embodied in language use are as follows: Indonesian language as a symbol of language competence and language policy; Javanese language indicates the symbol of group vitality and sacredness; Arabic language as a symbol of Islamic religious entity; English language as a symbol of the religious tourism industry; the Japanese language builds the symbol of the past in dark tourism.Keywords: linguistic landscape, Public Cemetery, Malang City, public space texts.

Abstract

Abstrak: Penelitian ini dilatarbelakangi oleh banyaknya masalah dan distorsi di kalangan siswa selama pendidikan pasca pandemi covid-19. Pendidikan secara daring menjadikan siswa mengalami degradasi pada nilai-nilai karakter seperti karakter relegius, disiplin, dan tanggung jawab. Hal tersebut terbukti dengan banyak pelanggaran yang ditemui oleh peneliti selama observasi lapangan. Penelitian yang termasuk dalam penelitian kualitatif deskriptif ini memiliki tujuan untuk: (1) mengetahui konsep tata tertib sebagai strategi pembentukan karakter siswa pasca pandemi Covid-19 di SMAN 1 Batu, (2) mengetahui hambatan dan upaya yang dilakukan dalam menerapakan tata tertib sebagai strategi pembentukan karakter siswa, dan (3) mengetahui keterlaksanaan penerapan tata tertib sebagai strategi pembentuka karakter siswa. Sesuai dengan jenis penelitianya, teknik pengumpulan data yang digunakan adalah observasi, wawancara, dan dokumentasi. Analisis data menggunakan model analisis Miles dan Huberman yaitu melalui pengumpulan data, reduksi data, penyajian data, dan penarikan kesimpulan (verifikasi). Hasil dari penelitian ini menunjukan bahwa tata tertib SMAN 1 Batu memiliki konsep keterikan peraturan yang melahirkan tiga kelompok fokus dalam pelaksaanya yang meliputi pelanggaran, sanksi point, dan pembinaan yaitu kelompok kelakuan, kelompok kerapian, dan kelompok kerajinan. Penerapan tata tertib berhasil membentuk karakter siswa pasca pandemi Covid-19 dibuktikan dengan perubahan tingkah laku, kesadaran, dan menurunnya presentasi pelanggaran.Abstract: This research is motivated by the many problems and distortions among students during post-covid-19 pandemic education. Online education makes students experience degradation of character values such as religious character, discipline, and responsibility. This is proven by the many violations encountered by researchers during field observations. This research, which is included in this descriptive qualitative research, has the objectives of: (1) knowing the concept of discipline as a strategy for building student character after the Covid-19 pandemic at SMAN 1 Batu, (2) knowing the obstacles and efforts made in implementing discipline as a strategy for forming student character, and (3) knowing the implementation of the implementation of the rules as a strategy for building student character. In accordance with the type of research, data collection techniques used are observation, interviews, and documentation. Data analysis uses the Miles and Huberman analysis model, namely through data collection, data reduction, data presentation, and drawing conclusions (verification). The results of this study indicate that the discipline of SMAN 1 Batu has the concept of regulatory involvement which gave birth to three focus groups in its implementation which include violations, point sanctions, and coaching namely behavior groups, neatness groups, and craft groups. The implementation of the rules has succeeded in shaping the character of students after the Covid-19 pandemic as evidenced by changes in behavior, awareness, and a decrease in the presentation of violations.

Abstract

Relief as a form of local wisdom comes in one form as a tool to immerse moral values in antiquity. However, the difference is too long to make relief is no longer popular in this increasingly digital era. Therefore, effort is needed to popularize the stories in relief into children's stories so that they are more easily digested, enjoyed, and used as media of character building that has been mandated by the law.The method of reading works of art that is still rarely used to reconstruct relief stories. Relief stories are only confirmed through the search of written documents that are now increasingly rare existence. The theory in question is iconography.Through this theory, the reliefs can be read and then the reading results are combined and become a story. In the preparation of the story, this theory requires several steps of work, namely, factual description and expressional descriptions. This is understood by identifying the basic shape, the arrangement of a particular line and color, or the unique shape of a piece of bronze or a stone, a natural picture such as man, animal, plant, life-aid and identifying relationships among them as an event. Some things that have been connected are connected, then character expression is exposed through poses and or gesturenya. This is called an artistic motif.The second stage is iconography, which is the process of reading the secondary meaning of the textual aspect (visual traits / artistic motives), by looking at the relationship between the visual features of a work of art with themes and concepts based on the interpretation of imagination or images, stories and allegories or symbols). For that, it takes literary studies as supporting in the form of various theories such as anthropology, sociology, socio-culture, or lifestyle, literary works, and philosophy in the context of the work studied. A specific theme or concept is expressed by the objects of art and events in the work. Keyword: iconography, relief, child literature
