Abstract

Bali island is very thick with arts and tourism. Balinese Fine Arts has gone through a long historical journey from the prehistoric era to the present. Many observers say that the art that has developed on the island of Bali has its own characteristics. Balinese Fine Arts as part of Balinese culture has its own complex development. When compared to the fine arts that have developed in other areas such as Yogyakarta, Bandung and Jakarta, Balinese art has a different ecosystem. In Balinese fine arts, the religious aspect is still very influential, in line with the flow of modernism brought by the entry of tourism that has occurred since the colonial period. Today, in Bali, art, which became present as an offering and is communal in a contextual context, continues and has become part of the traditions of the Balinese Hindu community in the midst of the development of modern / contemporary art which is personal and profane. In the context of artistry, Balinese fine arts to this day develop very dynamically where traditional art, as well as modern / academic art, develop and have their respective actors, enlivening the Balinese art ecosystem. The position of the Balinese art ecosystem that intersects with the development of the world of tourism is actually a potential that can be mobilized as Bali tourism branding. The purpose of this research is that the two of them can collaborate for mutually reinforcing developments. This research will be conducted using the literature method from existing data.

Abstract

During COVID-19 pandemic, online learning has been regulated to be applied in all education levels by the ministry of education and culture in Indonesia. This has brought about the changes in learning culture (Kim, 2020) from face-to-face or traditional classroom to online virtual classroom. One of the impacts of online learning is students are required and encouraged to read online materials as to set up new online reading culture. The swift of reading mode from paper-based to online-based in teaching and learning process has motivated this research as to investigate students’ strategies in reading from online sources for class activities. This study involves finding out metacognitive strategies using the Online Survey of Reading Strategies (OSORS) which already modified by Anderson (2003). Some potential differences of the online reading strategy used by both groups are also scrutinized. The result of the current study reveals that that majority of the students use Problem Solving Strategies. Pedagogical implications of the study are discussed.

A learning culture is needed to facilitate the process of learning English for students and to increase student motivation in learning language (Kim, 2020). This research paper aim to examine and describe Indonesian EFL university students’ motivation whether integrative or instrumental in learning English as foreign language. The method used was quantitative by randomly asking the students  enrolled in undergraduate study program of English Literature in one of the Indonesian universities to fill out a questionnaire adapted from Attitude Motivation Test Battery (AMTB) that was developed by R.C. Gardner (1985). The questionnaire was administered to students who come from 2017 generations to 2020 generations. Moreover, this study also examine whether the differences existed in motivation between old students and new students. The data collected were analyzed by using SPSS program to find out the mean score and standard deviation as to answer the questions of this study. The results indicated that students’ motivation in learning English was more highly instrumental than integrative. This study also revealed that new students had more instrumental motivation and old students had more integrative motivation. Based on the findings, lecturers are expected to improve their way of learning for enhancement the students’ motivation. Abstract

The COVID-19 outbreak caused all schools and tertiary educations to be closed. Based on the government's regulation that all teaching and learning activities should be carried out from home through online platform to reduce the expansion of the COVID-19 outbreak. This pandemic situation has changed learning culture in general (Kim, 2020). This condition also encourages lecturers to apply the blended online learning (BOL) method during a pandemic. This present study explores the effect of implementing the blended online learning during pandemic on the development of English language skills, students' perception concerning benefits, limitations, and suggestion of implementing the blended online learning during pandemic. This research used quantitative method for the data collection by using online questionnaire containing 34 Likert-scale and three open-ended questions. The participants were 86 students in an Indonesian tertiary education. The data were analyzed using SPSS 22 to know the reliability, mean and standard deviation of the data. The result revealed that the development of listening, reading and vocabularies skills were mainly affected by implementation of blended online learning during pandemic. The students also perceived that they could develop internet and computer skill and self-paced learning. Moreover, the major problems of implementing the blended online learning included connectivity, followed by preference for hard books than online material. Pedagogical implication includes the need for students to be familiarized with solving technical problems and providing proper online learning training associated with how to learn effectively at blended online learning.

Abstract

This paper argues that the Covid-19 virus needs to be seen in a unity of cultural phenomenon so that cultural and nature boundaries can be eliminated and produce holistic and valid ethnography. Psychological and health approaches tend to put the Covid-19 virus outside of culture. The management of fear in the midst of a pandemic in the community is seen as not contextual and ignores local wisdom. Covid-19 virus needs to be placed as a companion species equivalent to humans in a culture. This research studies the community of Kukusan Village, Kendit District, Situbondo Regency. The data is collected through fieldwork, using the methods of in-depth interview, participant observations and literature studies. This research shows that Kukusan Village which is religious with a strong kinship coexists with Covid-19 based on the management of fear and shame in the midst of the pandemic. Managing fear and shame when experiencing various conditions such as exposure to Covid-19 virus, death, and illness in the midst of the pandemic raises anti-fear for the people of Kukusan village. Medical anthropological perspectives that tend to be anthropocentric and see a disease or virus separate from humans make it seem as if Covid-19 is just a health phenomenon. Anthropologists with multispecies perspective in looking at health issues try to see the Covid-19 virus as a whole unity in society and become an active subject in health and cultural phenomena.

This study uses a qualitative method that passes observations, interviews, documentation and data analysis. Based on the results of the analysis that Evelyna's anxiety about the habit of pounding rice in the traditional way in the Minangkabau community had begun to fade, which was replaced by advanced technology such as helers. Abstract

The design for the pattern of Batik Tuban with Fractal visual idea was motivated by the availability of a chance to develop a new design that focuses on the visual processing of Fractals and Batik Tuban motif itself. The urge that generates this idea was taken not only because of the phenomena that Fractals are currently being explored, but also based on the unique characteristics of visual Fractals itself that can produce new various and diverse motifs. Visual Fractals are acquired from a software called "Ultra Fractal" which is then processed to be combined with Batik Tuban motif. This designing process produces a new pattern that associated with the typical motifs of the past towards today's textile products that is manufactured through digital processing techniques. The results of this design development can be concluded as: (1) From the visual Fractal idea, this design produces nine designs employing the original Batik Tuban motif as the main pattern which are classified into nine, they are three geometric designs, three flora designs and three fauna designs. (2) Three of the nine designs have been transformed into blouse fashion products using Japanese cotton which are polished by applying Batik Tulis techniques and dabbing them in the coloring process.

Abstract

The development of an increasingly modern era has an impact on social changes in all aspects of daily life, one of which is the socio-cultural aspect. The impact of social changes on socio-cultural aspects in modern times can be seen from the number of traditional arts that have decreased in existence, some are even experiencing extinction. This study aims to determine how the social changes that occur in the traditional art of Ebleg Singa Mataram in Panjer Village, Kebumen District, Kebumen Regency, as well as how the community's efforts to maintain this art in modern times. This study uses descriptive qualitative research methods, using purposive sampling technique in determining informants. Data were collected through interviews, observation, and documentation. The theory usedto analyze the research data is Herbert Spencer's theory of social evolution. The results of the data findings show that the changes that occur in the traditional art of Ebleg Singa Mataram are not in terms of the standard of the traditional art ballet. However, the changes that have occurred include the enthusiasm of the audience for thetraditional art of Ebleg Singa Mataram which has increased in size (development) gradually over time. The existence of Ebleg Singa Mataram as the oldest traditional Kuda Lumping art in Kebumen Regency is experiencing complexities, this is due to the adaptation process from several other traditional Kuda Lumping arts communities in Kebumen Regency. In addition, social changes make people differentiate and indirectly the regeneration of the traditional arts community of Ebleg Singa Mataram is hampered.
