Abstract

Dengue fever cases in Indonesia, with a total of 71,633 cases as of July 2020, where Medan City experienced a 20% increase in cases in 2020. The main vector of dengue fever is Ae. Aegypti, usually prefers to suck human blood rather than animals (arthrophilic) and is usually active during the day. One way to control Ae. Aegypti mosquitoes is to break the mosquito life cycle by using insecticides. Reports from the Medan City Health Office and several studies have found an increase in cases due to the resistance of Ae. Aegypti mosquitoes to chemical insecticides. This resistance prevents mosquitoes from dying but has an impact on public health. People tend to use insecticides with the active ingredient Cypermethrin, which if used for a long time can cause problems with the upper respiratory tract, skin and eye irritation. Therefore, natural insecticides are needed that are relatively safe for humans and environmentally friendly, such as bay leaf juice (Syzygium Polyanthum) and Lavender Leaf Juice (Lavandula Angustifolia). The purpose of this study was to obtain a natural insecticide formula that can be found in the community environment and can be used by the community because it is cheap, easy and efficient and does not interfere with public health. This type of research is experimental, with the design of The Post Test Only Controlled Group Design. The population in this study was Ae. Aegypti mosquitoes located in the Jalan Durung area of Medan City. The sample in this study was 20 adult Ae. Aegypti mosquitoes in each of the 3 treatments and 2 controls, namely negative control (Aquades) and positive control (Cypermethrin) totaling ± 640. The results of the study that have been obtained are that there is a statistically significant effect on the number of mosquitoes that died between the Bay Leaf Juice (Syzygium Polyanthum) group and the Lavender Leaf Juice (Lavandula Angustifolia) group. Keywords: Ae. Aegypti; Insecticide; Bay Leaf (Syzygium Polyanthum); Lavender Leaf (Lavandula Angustifolia).

Abstract

Several studies have found that the types of academic fraud that often occur are cheating, plagiarism, stealing exam materials, and handing over other people's assignments on their behalf. One of the reasons that causes academic cheating to occur is disbelief in one's capabilities which is called self-efficacy. Previous research has shown that low self-efficacy will give up faster and avoid difficulties because they are not sure of their abilities. Cheating behavior in the nursing profession is very bad because it will have a bad effect on patients like medication errors. Therefore, the purpose of this research was to determine the relationship between self-efficacy and academic cheating in nursing students. The research design used descriptive correlational. The sample in this study was nursing students at the University of Western Indonesia with a total of 183 respondents. The sampling technique used simple random sampling because the population was homogenous. Data was collected online by Google Forms. The data were analyzed using the chi-square test. It was found that the majority of self-efficacy was in the moderate category of 123 (67.2%), and academic cheating was in the low category of 165 (90.2%). The Chi-Square test showed a p-value of 0.002. There is a relationship between self-efficacy and academic cheating in nursing students. High self-efficacy will create a calm feeling to face difficult tasks, increase optimism, and reduce anxiety. Recommendations for nursing educational institutions can motivate students and modify learning methods so that students have the confidence not to commit academic fraud.

Abstract

Newborns, especially premature infants, are at high risk of ineffective thermoregulation due to their less complex skin structure. Impaired thermoregulation experienced by premature infants can lead to hypothermia. Premature infants who experience hypothermia can cause complications that have the potential to cause disability and death. One of the efforts to prevent hypothermia is to place premature infants in an incubator that gives moisture so that moisture regulation is needed to help regulate the baby's temperature, especially in premature infants who experience ineffective thermoregulation. Humidity regulation is required for the incubator to prevent fluid loss through evaporation. This study aims to determine the effectiveness of providing incubator humidity education on nurses' knowledge, attitudes, and skills in the Perinatology room. The research design used a pre-experimental group without control with an accidental sampling technique; namely, there was a pre-test before and a post-test after treatment. Thus, the treatment results can be more accurate because they can be compared with the situation before treatment. This study involved 37 respondents in the perinatology room in one of the state hospitals using pre-and post-test questionnaires conducted from April to May 2022. The results showed that there were significant differences before and after education on knowledge (p=0.001), attitudes (p=0.001), and skills (p=0.001). The results of this study can used as a reference in developing standard procedures for incubator humidity to prevent ineffective thermoregulation in premature infants through cognitive improvement of nurses about incubators.
