Abstract

This study examines the adoption of Artificial Intelligence (AI) among Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) in Balikpapan, Indonesia, using the Technology-Organization-Environment (TOE) framework. Through qualitative interviews with seven MSME owners and employees, we explored their perspectives on AI, current technology use, challenges in digital adoption, and external support needs. Findings indicate that while MSME owners recognize the potential of AI to enhance competitiveness, its adoption remains limited, with most relying on basic digital tools like POS systems and social media for marketing. Key challenges include financial constraints, limited digital literacy among staff, and a lack of technical training. Moreover, external support, such as government-backed training programs and financial incentives, is minimal, slowing the digital transition process. This study suggests that expanding AI awareness and providing targeted training could address these barriers, while government policies that promote digital infrastructure and collaboration with tech providers could further support MSME digital transformation. Future research should consider broader variables within the TOE framework, such as cultural and policy-related factors, to provide a more comprehensive understanding of AI adoption in MSMEs across various sectors.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the impact of firm value, profitability, and Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) on company performance, particularly from the perspective of creditors. Firm value is often used to assess a company's ability to manage financial obligations, such as repaying loans to creditors. In this regard, company liquidity becomes an important indicator in determining the extent to which a company can meet its obligations. Additionally, profitability, which measures a company's ability to generate profit, is also considered an important factor in assessing company performance and stability. Previous studies have shown varying results regarding the impact of profitability on firm value, with some studies reporting a positive impact and others a negative one. Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) also plays a significant role in improving the company's image and facilitating sustainable development, which can contribute to long-term company performance. Based on the research findings and discussions regarding the impact of liquidity, profitability, firm value, and the influence of corporate social responsibility on coal mining companies in Indonesia, this study is expected to provide insights into company performance as seen through DER (Debt to Equity Ratio) and ROA (Return on Assets). This research also aims to provide insights regarding the impact of CSR, which has not yet been able to moderate the effects of liquidity and profitability on firm value. Abstract

The pandemic, followed by the war in Ukraine, has caused inflation rates to soar. Such conditions almost certainly trigger a response in the form of tight monetary policies. When implemented by developed countries, these policies may lead to capital outflows from developing countries. To counter this, similar monetary measures are often adopted by the latter. This monetary phenomenon keeps recurring. Capital outflows are just one of many factors contributing to high foreign exchange volatility, which adversely impacts the economy and trade. Consequently, many have begun exploring ways to reduce dependency on foreign currencies by adopting the Local Currency Transaction (LCT) scheme. This study aims to examine the relationship or correlation between LCT and the value and volume of Indonesia’s exports and imports with its three trading partners: Malaysia, Thailand, and Japan. Using a non-parametric quantitative research method complemented by the Spearman test (as well as the Wilcoxon test to validate result consistency), it was found that the relationship between LCT and the value and volume of exports and imports predominantly (11 out of 12 analysis categories) exhibits a negative correlation. This indicates that LCT tends to reduce trade value or volume. Future efforts could include enhancing outreach or even providing training for business actors on the positive benefits of LCT, particularly targeting sectors that have yet to optimally utilize LCT. A preliminary step is understanding business actors’ perceptions, preferences, and challenges regarding the use of LCT. Additionally, comparisons should be made with practices similar to the LCT scheme, such as the SML scheme implemented in MERCOSUR countries and the ACU in South and Central Asian nations.

Abstract

This study aims to examine the effect of product variety and service quality on consumer repurchase intention at Nostimo Food Stall, Balikpapan. This study uses a quantitative approach and uses primary data obtained from 246 respondents as samples selected based on convenience sampling method. The collected data were analyzed based on multiple linear regression analysis using SPSS. The result shows that product variation and service quality have a significant effect simultaneously on consumer repurchase intention. The product variety has a positive and significant effect on consumer repurchase interest, but service quality has a positive and insignificant effect on consumer repurchase interest. The results provide managerial implications for Nestimo Balikpapan Food Stalls to increase its product variety and improve health protocol-based services in order to increase consumer repurchase interest. With the increase of consumers' repurchase interest, it is expected that this restaurant business that is run can develop and be sustainable. Confirming that the combination of both creates a satisfying eating experience and increases consumer loyalty. These findings provide important insights for culinary entrepreneurs in improving their competitiveness. Despite this success, the researcher still recommends exploring the impact of additional factors such as digital customer experience and social media-based marketing strategies on repurchase intention. In addition, a more in-depth study of market segmentation based on demographics could provide additional insights into different consumer preferences.
