Abstract

Marunda is an area located in North Jakarta, several Industrial and warehousing located in this area, as well as special port such as: Millitary port, coal and sand loading and unloading. As a Industrial and warehousing area, tranportation marunda dominated by Container Truck and heavy Equipment. Main source of energy for industrial area came from coal and petroleum, and main source of energy for transportation activity came from petroleum, this is the main cause of air pollution in Marunda. Indication of high levels of air pollution can be seen by amount of dust (fine particles) that scattered on the floor. Based on existing studies has been known that air pollution has negative impact for human health. In this articles will be discussed level of air pollution in marunda based on the content of particulate matter 2.5, particulate matter 10 and Nitrogen Dioxide in the air.

Abstract

A deck crane is an auxiliary machine on board a ship that is useful for assisting ship operations such as loading and unloading activities or raising and lowering goods that can only be lifted by a deck crane. The deck crane on the writer's ship uses a hydraulic system, which is a system that uses the potential and power of liquid substances. The purpose of this study is to identify the causes of damage to the deck crane and the maintenance that must be done on the deck crane. The research method used in this research is descriptive qualitative. From this research method, the data obtained will be analyzed so as to get an overview and the right solution to solve the problems that occur in this research. Based on the results of this study, the deck crane on the MV. Habco Carina was damaged due to damage to the hydraulic motor and the ineffectiveness of the Plan Maintenance System (PMS) or lack of maintenance on the deck crane. As a result, ship operational activities become hampered and disrupted. The most effective solution to this problem is to replace the hydraulic motor with a new one and improve deck crane maintenance. The most effective treatment is to check the oil level before each deck crane operates. It is hoped that this research can become a reference or reference as well as additional knowledge for readers and writers who experience the same problems as this research.

Abstract

Hatch Cover is a part of the ship that is useful for protecting cargo from seawater and avoiding damage that can cause cargo damage. To make the load not damaged, of course, optimal maintenance is needed for the hatch cover and what needs to be applied in the maintenance of the hatch cover on the MV. Chandra Kirana so that damage can be avoided completely. The research method used is descriptive qualitative by describing the problem through observing what happens in the field, indirect interviews conducted with ship officers and crew, literature study, and documentation. By using this research method, the required data is obtained and then analyzed and presented with a descriptive narrative. From the results studied, it was found that there were problems with the application of hatch cover maintenance which was less than optimal and there were many obstacles encountered when carrying out hatch cover maintenance which resulted in delays in maintenance. Researchers suggest that companies can implement workshops for crew members who will board so they can know what to do in treating and repairing hatch cover damage and following hatch cover maintenance procedures in accordance with Doc. No. JSP E41 namely inspection and maintenance plan of bulk carrier hatch cover so that hatch cover maintenance can be carried out properly and reduce additional costs in the event of cargo damage

Abstract

This research examines the integration of shipping law and maritime policies within Indonesian maritime vocational education systems, evaluating their effectiveness in developing professional competencies amongst maritime graduates. Employing a qualitative descriptive approach, the study investigates perspectives from three key stakeholder groups: maritime professionals, vocational lecturers, and maritime graduates. The research addresses critical gaps in legal literacy amongst Indonesian seafarers operating within international jurisdictions. Findings indicate an overall effectiveness score of 9/10 across three key indicators: shipping management, maritime business, and maritime finance with sustainability. However, significant opportunities exist for enhanced case-based learning, practical legal simulations, and contextualised application of international maritime conventions. The study recommends systematic curriculum reforms incorporating experiential learning methodologies, strengthened industry-academia collaboration, and development of competency-based legal literacy frameworks aligned with International Maritime Organisation (IMO) standards.

Abstract

The demand for energy continues to rise alongside today’s technological advancements, particularly the need for electricity generated from environmentally friendly sources. Saltwater can serve as an alternative energy source—a medium used to generate electricity that is relatively inexpensive, readily available, and non-hazardous. Saltwater commonly encountered in daily life is NaCl, or what is commonly known as table salt. By constructing a simple voltaic cell, an experiment was conducted to determine the extent to which variations in immersion depth and the distance between the two electrodes in the saltwater electrolyte affect the reaction with the electrodes in generating an electric potential difference. This experiment used two different electrodes: copper (Cu) as the cathode and zinc (Zn) as the anode. The saltwater electrolyte used also varied in salt concentration. It is hoped that the results of this study can be utilized by the public to help provide an alternative source of electrical energy and reduce monthly electricity bills.

Abstract

Utilization of renewable energy especially offshore wind energy increasingly becoming a focus in efforts to diversify energy sources and reduce carbon emissions. Studies This aiming for investigate potential wind off beach in Gampong Durung Politeknik Pelayaran Malahayati Aceh Besar, and proposes an optimization strategy to utilize it in supporting electricity in the region. The research was conducted through a series of methodological steps, including wind pattern mapping, wind speed measurement, historical data analysis, and mathematical modeling. The re-sults of the study show that Village Durung own potential significant winds, with speed and di-rection steady wind throughout year with done speed data measurement wind in Gampong Du-rung on some point. From the results measurement speed wind obtained speed the average wind for 3 months measurement in a way in order are 2.6 m/s, 2.4 m/s, and 2.6 m/s with direction wind most namely northwest. From the results calculation speed wind at 09.00-12.00 which is 463.252 watts, 463.252 watts and 557.7425 watts, then at 13.00-16.00 which is 1115.69 watts, 664.28 watts and 742.355 watts. Based on this analysis, adequate infrastructure planning is also pro-posed to integrate this wind energy with the electricity system in Aceh Besar. By considering economic, environmental and social aspects, this optimization project is expected to be able to provide a positive contribution in meeting the need for sustainable electricity in the region. Abstract

Port Waste Management System (PWMS) is a comprehensive waste management approach employed at ports to mitigate environmental harm. PWMS encompasses the collection, segregation, and disposal of various types of waste generated at ports, including solid, liquid, and hazardous waste. Through the adoption of sustainable technologies such as renewable energy and efficient water management, ports can significantly reduce their carbon footprint and ecological impact. Ecoport and Port Waste Management System advocate for sustainable practices within port operations. This study aims to assess the influence of the Ecoport Socialization Program on Greenport implementation at Tanjung Priok Port, aiming to enhance awareness regarding the importance of minimizing environmental impact and improving resource efficiency within the port sector. The findings indicate a positive and statistically significant relationship between the Port Waste Management System (X2) and Greenport Implementation (Y), with a coefficient value (Original Sample column) of 0.579 and P-Values of 0.000 < 0.05. Furthermore, the Q-Square (Q2) value for Greenport Implementation (Y) is 0.465, indicating that Ecoport Socialization (X1) and Port Waste Management System (X2) possess predictive relevance for Greenport Implementation (Y). Combined, Ecoport Socialization (X1) and Port Waste Management System (X2) account for 59.6% of the variance in Greenport Implementation (Y), with the remaining 40.4% attributable to other factors. In conclusion, this study demonstrates that Ecoport socialization and Port Waste Management System significantly contribute to explaining Greenport Implementation.

Abstract

To maintain the quality of seafarers who work on principal-owned ships in collaboration with PT. Equinox Bahari Utama, the company made various selections, one of which was by carrying out the CES Test. However, in its implementation, seafarers have difficulty answering the questions in the test because of the constraints of Maritime English, so the minimum score set by the ship's owner company that is quite high cannot be met. Meanwhile, ship owners and seafarers actually give a positive perception of the implementation of this test. So that the effectiveness of the implementation of CES Test in companies on the selection process of rating seafarers needs to be measured and reviewed. This research is a type of research with a quantitative method. Data collection was carried out with a questionnaire distributed to 39 respondents, namely rating seafarers who had carried out the CES Test in the selection process at PT. Equinox Bahari Utama with a total of 17 statements. In looking for the results of data calculation and analysis, the author uses the SPSS version 21 program. In this study, it was found that the implementation of the CES Test in the selection process of rating seafarers at PT. The Main Marine Equinox runs ineffectively

Abstract

Maritime transportation is a fundamental component of global and national logistics systems, particularly in archipelagic countries such as Indonesia, where sea routes provide essential connections between islands. Safe navigation relies heavily on the competence of ship personnel, especially officers responsible for navigational watchkeeping and situational awareness when operating in high-risk areas such as narrow channels. Increasing maritime traffic density in Indonesian waters has heightened the risk of navigational incidents, including collisions, particularly in restricted waterways where manoeuvring space is limited. This study aims to analyse strategies for optimising the use of Radar as a navigational aid to improve safety during narrow channel transits on board MV. Tanto Mandiri. A qualitative descriptive research approach was employed to examine the role of Radar utilisation, officer competency, and navigational practices in reducing collision risks. Data were collected through observations, interviews, and documentation related to shipboard navigation operations. The findings indicate that effective Radar utilisation is essential for supporting navigational decision-making, particularly in conditions of restricted visibility, adverse weather, and night-time operations when visual identification of navigational markers, such as buoys and lighthouse signals, becomes difficult. Radar provides critical information regarding vessel position, course, speed, distance from surrounding objects, and potential collision risks. However, the effectiveness of Radar as a safety tool depends significantly on the knowledge, skills, and operational awareness of navigating officers. Therefore, continuous training, familiarisation, and improvement of Radar operating competency among deck officers are required to maximise the benefits of electronic navigation equipment. Optimising Radar utilisation, combined with effective watchkeeping practices, can significantly reduce the likelihood of collisions and enhance navigational safety during narrow channel operations.

Abstract

PT Pelayaran Nasional Indonesia (PT PELNI) has faced criticism for inefficiencies and ineffectiveness in its utilization of Public Service Obligation (PSO) funds, which are often diverted from their primary purpose of improving passenger transport services. This misallocation has exacerbated infrastructure disparities, particularly in remote areas, regions with weaker economies, and routes managed by operators incurring losses. Such gaps present significant challenges to achieving equitable access to maritime transportation. As stipulated in Law No. 17 of 2008, the shipping system encompasses waterborne transportation, ports, safety, security, and marine environmental protection, all of which significantly influence the mobility of people and goods. However, service quality perceptions vary across different socio-economic groups, highlighting the need for targeted improvements. This study evaluates the effectiveness of PSO implementation at PT PELNI, focusing on optimizing subsidized shipping routes to enhance service delivery and contribute to regional economic development. The findings aim to inform policymakers and stakeholders in improving PSO administration and maritime infrastructure.
