Abstract

Background: In 2022, the World Health Organization (WHO) reported 2.3 million new breast cancer cases among women. In Central Java, 10.530 cases were recorded in 2019, and in Semarang City, 1.725 cases were reported in community health centers and 3.111 in hospitals. Breast cancer may lead to organ dysfunction and death, highlighting the importance of early detection through Breast Self-Examination (BSE). Low awareness and practice of BSE are primarily due to a lack of knowledge. Health education using cooperative learning methods such as Snowball Throwing and Buzz Group is expected to improve knowledge of BSE. Methods: The research method used is a true experimental design with a two-group pretest-posttest design. The population consisted of 191 individuals, with 72 respondents selected using stratified random sampling and randomly assigned to two groups via spinner. Each group receives a different educational method. Results: The results showed a significant increase in knowledge in both groups after the intervention (p-value = 0.000). A Mann-Whitney test revealed a significant difference in effectiveness between the two methods (p-value = 0.04). The mean knowledge score difference was 9.75, indicating that the Snowball Throwing method was more effective than the Buzz Group method. Conclusion: There is a difference in the effectiveness of the level of knowledge about BSE in adolescent girls before and after being given health education Snowball Throwing and Buzz Group.

Abstract

Background: Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus is a complex global health issue that can lead to serious complications if not managed properly. The role of family members in assisting diabetes patients is crucial for improving treatment adherence and quality of life. However, the willingness of family members to provide such support is often influenced by their level of knowledge regarding the disease. This study aims to determine the relationship between the knowledge level of family members about Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus and their willingness to provide assistance to patients. Methods: This study utilized a quantitative approach with a cross-sectional design. The research sample consisted of 66 family members of patients with Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus in Sumberarum Village, Magelang Regency, selected using a purposive sampling technique. Data were collected using the Diabetes Knowledge Questionnaire-24 and a questionnaire measuring the level of willingness to provide assistance. Data analysis was performed using the Spearman correlation test. Results: The results of this study indicated that the majority of respondents were aged 25-44 years, male, had a secondary level of education, were employed, and had family members who had suffered from diabetes for more than one year. This study found that the majority had a moderate level of knowledge (62.1%) and a high level of willingness to provide assistance (57.6%). The Spearman correlation test results showed a significant positive relationship between the level of knowledge and the willingness to provide assistance (correlation coefficient = 0.713; p = 0.000). Conclusion: The results of the study indicate a strong relationship between the level of knowledge and the willingness of family members to provide support for diabetes patients. Future research is expected to conduct studies that implement interventions to improve both the knowledge and willingness of family members to assist diabetes patients.

Abstract

Background: Stunting is a chronic nutritional problem that has a long-term impact on children's growth and development. Acupressure as a complementary approach is considered to have the potential to support infant growth and development stimulation. However, the support of health workers and health cadres for the application of acupressure is highly dependent on their level of knowledge and attitude. Acupressure training can be an innovative strategy to increase their capacity, while strengthening support for stunting prevention programs. The purpose of this study was to determine the effectiveness of acupressure training in increasing the support of health workers and health cadres in the prevention of stunting in toddlers. Methods: This study used a quasi-experimental design with a one-group pre-test post-test design. The sample consisted of 10 health workers and health cadres in the working area of the Kampung Bugis Community Health Center, which was taken using total sampling. Data were collected using knowledge, attitude, and support questionnaires for both pre-test and post-test and analyzed using univariate techniques to determine the frequency distribution and bivariate analysis using a paired t-test to determine the pre-post difference in the support of health workers and health cadres in stunting prevention. Results: Analysis of the difference in support scores before the intervention was 56.20 and after the acupressure training intervention was 74.80, so the statistical test results showed a p-value < 0.05, which means there was a significant difference between support before and after acupressure training. Conclusion: The results of this study imply that acupressure training can be used as a strategy to strengthen the capacity of health workers and cadres in supporting stunting prevention programs. The integration of acupressure into Posyandu activities and primary health care services can enrich the promotive and preventive approaches that have so far focused more on nutritional interventions.

Relationship Between Loneliness And Internet Addiction Among Students Intan Maranata1, Sunarko2, Aisyah Nur Izzati3, Angga Sugiarto4, Suharsono5 Email : sunarko@poltekkes-smg.ac.id ABSTRACT Background: loneliness is a common mental health issue among university students and can trigger various psychological disorders, including internet addiction. Students who live far from their families often experience loneliness and seek escape through excessive internet use. However, the mechanism underlying the relationship between loneliness and internet addiction still needs to be further understood, especially in the context of nursing students. This study aims to examine the relationship between the level of loneliness and the level of internet addiction among students in the Nursing Study Program at Magelang, Health Polytechnic Semarang. Methods: this research used a descriptive correlational design with a cross- sectional approach. A total of 180 students from second semester, fourth semester, and sixth semester were selected using cluster sampling techniques. The instruments used were the University of California Los Angeles (UCLA) Loneliness Scale Version 3 to measure loneliness, and the Internet Addiction Test (IAT) to measure the level of internet addiction. Data were analyzed using Spearman’s rho test. Results: the results showed that 92.2% of students experienced a moderate level of loneliness and 54.4% showed a mild level of internet addiction. Spearman’s rho correlation analysis indicated a significant positive relationship between loneliness and internet addiction (r = 0.176; p < 0.018). Conclusion: there is a significant positive relationship between loneliness and internet addiction among students. The higher the level of perceived loneliness, the higher the tendency to experience internet addiction. Abstract

Background: Menopause is a natural biological transition characterized by the permanent cessation of menstruation due to decreased ovarian production of estrogen and progesterone. These hormonal changes may lead to physical and psychological symptoms that potentially affect women’s quality of life. Assessing quality of life among menopausal women is essential to identify their health status and well-being, particularly in urban settings where lifestyle factors may influence adaptation to menopause. Objective: This study aimed to examine the association between sociodemographic characteristics and the quality of life of menopausal women in urban areas. Methods: An analytic correlational study with a cross-sectional design was conducted among 49 menopausal women selected through total sampling. Quality of life was measured using the WHOQOL-BREF instrument, covering physical health, psychological health, social relationships, and environmental domains. Bivariate analysis was performed using the Chi-square test with a significance level of 5%. Results: Most respondents were postmenopausal, had primary–secondary education, were employed, and were married. The majority reported moderate quality of life in the physical domain and good quality of life in the psychological, social, and environmental domains. Age was significantly associated with quality of life in the physical and social domains (p < 0.05). No significant associations were found between education level, employment status, or marital status and quality of life (p > 0.05). Conclusion: Age significantly influences quality of life among menopausal women, particularly in physical and social aspects. Strengthened health promotion and family support are recommended to improve well-being during menopause.
