Abstract

This paper is based on an argument that discrimination against indigenous religion is a fact of the dynamics of policy interpretations. Therefore, the presence of indigenous people movements such as AMAN (Aliansi Masyarakat Adat Nusantara), offers solutions for indigenous rights' violations, and it also serves as a place for discussion on existing and possible threats upon indigenous communities. The indigenous people movements aim to establish religious freedom as a means to promote indigenous religion rights, particularly the importance of customary land. On the one hand, the state recognizes the rights of indigenous people, but, on the other hand they are prosecuted with hard conditions in realizing their rights

Abstract

The story of Kiskindhā Kānda is one part of the Ramayāna book which contains a sublime story and various conflicts in it. Among these various conflicts, there is one part that becomes the core of the story when two wanara brothers, namely Vālī and Sugrīva, are involved in a feud. The conflict reflects a less harmonious relationship between brothers, and seems similar to some cases that occur in life today. Reflecting on this, this study is interested in examining more deeply the story of the Kiskindhā Kānda Ramāyāna to find a deeper reflection of its learning, especially in the perspective of Hindu religious teachings. To support this goal, this research formulates several problems, namely related to the content of the story of Kiskindhā Kānda Ramāyāna, the nature of moral teachings in Hinduism, and finally formulating learning reflections that can be used as guidelines in living life. By using qualitative research methods, and literature studies, and using data analysis from Miles and Huberman. The results of this study indicate that the story of Kiskindhā Kānda Ramāyāna contains various learning reflections aimed at maintaining brotherly bonds so that they remain stable, harmonious, loyal, and helping each other.

Abstract

The establishment of a sugar cane plantation in East Sumba has evoked conflicts and resistance from the local people. The damage to the katoda (sites to perform rituals) portrays one of the other violations causing environmental, cultural, and social damages related to the manipulation of customary land and criminalization of local people. This paper aims to discuss this conflict by accentuating, and also promoting, the paradigm of indigenous religion as a tool to understand the resistance of the Marapu community to protect their land. Indigenous Religion Paradigm implies the inter-subjective relationship between human person and non-human person (nature) in the non-hierarchical cosmology, which carries the commitments of responsibility, ethics, and reciprocity. By using this perspective, this work shows the opposite perspectives of the partnership between the corporation and the local government concerning the economic considerations and Marapu community who maintains their inter-subjective cosmology as opposed to the modern economic view. The land is understood differently by each of them. While the former only grasps the monetary side of the land, the latter religiously perceives the land as sources of life for both human and non-human person and, therefore, protects their land as the commitment to be responsible, ethical, and reciprocal.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze Indonesia Tanpa Pacaran (ITP) movement in the perspective of the reception of the Qur'an and Hadith and Social Construction by Berger and Luckman's. This study answers three questions: First, how the concept of ITP movement. Second, how reception of the Qur'an and Hadith in this Movement. Third, how social construction of this movement. As a social movement, ITP has five important elements. These elements are people and participants, goals and agendas, and targets. Meanwhile, in the perspective of social construction, a social reality have three moments of externalization-objectivation-internalization who occurs simultaneously. The verse “prohibit of zina” and the hadith about “ikhtilat” were accepted by La Ode as a prohibition on dating. The dialectic between text and the reality (La Ode thinks that dating causes negative effects to Muslim generation) has led to establish Indonesia Tanpa Pacaran movement. This idea was externalized to the community on September 7, 2015. After the ITP movement manifested itself in the reality of society, gradually the movement gets legitimacy. His social media accounts are followed by millions of people. This process is known as objectivation. Furthermore, their campaigns on social media periodically, about the effects of dating, are internalized by the members and their sympathizers. This internalization then forms anti-dating behavior in society.

Abstract

Literature created in antiquity has various themes about human life. The stories of life that do not escape writing in the form of prose, papyrus and speech in the form of lontar are very identical to life today. The story of Srinandi in the form of spoken literature is not far from today's life, like a modern soap opera with a different era. To produce valid and reliable data, this research uses qualitative research methods. To produce logical data, this article performs several stages of data sorting in the form of: 1). Reducing data, 2). Display data, 3). Verify data and, 4). Interpret article data. Related references really support the validity of a scientific work, therefore library techniques are also used through literature exploration on Google Scholar. The story in the lontar Srinandi which tells the story of a marriage that ends in murder with a third person element is very thick with the intervention of God himself. It was his devotion to Srinandi himself that resulted in the form of heaven, because of Srinandi's life journey who was very obedient and devoted during his life.
