Abstract

Religiosity is currently an aspect of human life that has become one of the main topics in studies or research conducted by experts or scientists in various fields. Previous studies have not examined religiosity and pregnancy in Balinese ethnic Hindu communities in transmigration areas. This study aims to explore and understand the influence of religiosity on pregnancy in Balinese ethnic Hindu communities in Mantaren II village, Kahayan Hilir sub-district, Pulang Pisau Regency, Central Kalimantan Province. This research uses a qualitative phenomenological method approach. Data were collected using semi-structured interviews and analysed by condensation, display and verification. Religiosity has an influence in life related to pregnancy that occurs in the Balinese ethnic Hindu community that has been married as seen from the existence of various activities and actions when the wife in the family is experiencing pregnancy such as praying, praying, offering offerings, and carrying out ceremonies for pregnancy.

Abstract

Banten dalam masyarakat Hindu di Bali merupakan sarana yadnya (upacara) yang memiliki fungsi penting pada suatu yadnya. Bahkan dapat dinyatakan tanpa banten upacara atau yadnya tidak dapat dilaksanakan. Pentingnya banten dalam upacara membuat adanya transformasi makna banten dewasa ini. Banten pada jaman modern ini tidak saja dimaknai sebagai sesuatu yang berkaitan dengan yang sacral atau agama tetapi juga dimaknai sebagai suatu peluang usaha atau bernilai ekonomi. Banten dewasa ini telah banyak dijadikan sebagai komoditas yang dapat diperjual belikan. Dengan demikian banten dewasa ini tidak saja sebagai simbol agama tetapi juga simbol ekonomi. Komodifikasi banten terus berlangsung karena kedua belah pihak pembeli banten dan penjual banten sama-sama merasa diuntungkan.

Abstract

This article explores forms of orthodoxy in Kaharingan Hinduism with a focus on the role of the Besorah ritual and local cultural sustainability in Pasir Panjang Village, Central Kalimantan. The background of this research is rooted in the challenges faced in maintaining authentic religious practices amidst the influence of modernization and globalization. The purpose of the research is to analyze how the Besorah ritual serves as a means to strengthen the cultural and religious identity of the local community. The methodology used is a qualitative approach, through participatory observation and in-depth interviews with community leaders and ritual participants. The results show that the Besorah ritual is not just a religious practice, but also a manifestation of cultural values passed down through generations, which contributes to the sustainability of local identity. The ritual strengthens community solidarity and cements the understanding of orthodoxy among Kaharingan Hindus. The conclusion of this study confirms the importance of the Besorah ritual as a tool to maintain and strengthen religious orthodoxy in the context of local cultural dynamics, and highlights the need to preserve traditional practices in the face of modern challenges.

Abstract

Tumpek wariga has been implemented for a long time by ethnic Balinese Hindus and is still maintained by ethnic Balinese Hindus who have transmigrated in Mantaren II village. Tumpek wariga is one of the holy days that is routinely celebrated every six months. The holy day is a form of implementation of the values in Hindu teachings contained in the holy book. However, the values of Hindu teachings conveyed through the implementation of tumpek wariga holy day have not been fully understood by Hindus in Mantaren II village. This study intends to explore and understand the values of Hindu Education contained in the implementation of the yadnya of tumpek wariga holy day in Mantaren II village. This study uses a phenomenological qualitative method approach with data collection techniques namely observation, interviews and documents. The data that has been collected is then analysed using the comparative constant technique. The results showed that the implementation of yadnyahari suci tumpek wariga there is a value of Hindu Education namely the value of Tattwa Education, Susila and ceremony.

Abstract

Today issues related to human rights continue to be a serious problem, especially in the context of Indonesian society. This problem is often influenced by the attitude of majoritarianism which then has an impact on limiting the rights of others. This research then wants to see how the Minahasa indigenous people accept and provide living space for Muslim immigrants as part of fulfilling human rights. The existence of an attitude of acceptance carried out by the Minahasa indigenous people shows an acknowledgment of identity as fellow citizens. The research process will use a qualitative methodology, data will be obtained through participatory observation, collecting documents, journals, and interviews with informants. The informants were selected based on the intended sample. After collecting data, documents, and interview results, they will then be analyzed with the theory of hospitality from the perspective of Marianne Moyaert. The attitude of hospitality and acceptance from the Minahasa indigenous people can be an opportunity to fulfill everyone's rights based on local culture.

Abstract

This article describes the portrait of interfaith peace in Toraja, South Sulawesi, which involves three religions: Christianity, Islam, and Indigenous. The aim is to explain structural and cultural conditions that include shared values or identity, the role of elite religious leaders, and community involvement. This study uses a qualitative method with a literature review approach that relies on journal, magazine, and news data. This study focuses on how interfaith residents in Tana Toraja can live together in peaceful conditions. What social changes threaten the culture of peace, and how to strengthen or reproduce the culture of peace?. The study results show a culture of peace in Toraja through community involvement in religious activities between different religions. Shared values through the existence of a Tongkonan (Toraja traditional house), a shared home for families of different religions. The role of elite leaders (traditional and religious) in controlling the dynamics in inter-faith relations. Also, economic relations between religions are obtained through their cultural diversity. This article also suggests the importance of reproducing family values as the principal value in caring for a culture of peace in Tana Toraja. Lastly, order the leluhut "siangga, sikamali na siangkarran " (mutual respect, longing for each other, and helping each other) can consistently be implemented in everyday life.

Abstract

Abstract The results of this research describe that: (1) The efforts of Christian Religious Education teachers are to foster, guide and supervise students implementing indicators of national commitment in living a life of religious moderation in the SMKN 1 Palangka Raya environment. Teachers develop students through topics discussed about life in a pluralistic society which are related to indicators of national commitment. Apart from developing teachers, they also guide and supervise students in carrying out national commitments within the SMKN 1 Palangka Raya environment. (2) The Christian Religious Education teacher's efforts are to develop, guide and supervise students implementing anti-violence indicators within the SMKN 1 Palangka Raya environment. The teacher provides guidance that is taught through the topics of the principles of loyalty, justice and love. Teachers also guide and supervise students' behavior at school, apart from that, religious teachers have first practiced non-violence.

Abstract

The purpose of this study is to find out the role of Hindu teachers who live in Balai Riam District, Sukamara Regency, Central Kalimantan in religious life in this region. This research is an urgency carried out to foster awareness for Hindu teachers at the research site to devote themselves to the community so as to accelerate the realization of a religious Hindu community. The researcher chose the location of this study because there are a large number of Hindu teachers, but this area has not shown as a religious Hindu community. This type of research is qualitative research with a descriptive approach. The primary data of this study was obtained through interviews and observations. Secondary data were obtained through data documentation relevant to the focus of this study. The findings of this study are that Hindus in Balai Riam District have not fully understood the concepts of Hindu teachings. Not all Hindu teachers want to play a role in realizing a religious Hindu society. The form of contribution of some Hindu teachers to Hindus is as the organizer of religious activities in the temple and assists in the implementation of yajna ceremonies organized by Hindus. As well as acting as the main initiator of the establishment of Widya Bhakti Temple and Indraprastha Temple, and as a dharma pracaraka in the development of Hindus.

Abstract

Indigenous education implemented by the Tenganan and Baduy Luar communities is a form of education that is liberating and plays an important role in maintaining cultural identity and fighting the negative impacts of globalization. This education is not based on a structure of domination, but rather forms a collective critical consciousness that allows indigenous people to understand and maintain their traditional values. Unlike formal education which often focuses on one-way knowledge transfer, indigenous education in these two communities prioritizes a collective and relational learning process. In this study, Paulo Freire's theory of liberating education is used as an analytical framework, emphasizing the importance of critical consciousness and active participation in the educational process. Indigenous education in Tenganan and Baduy Luar has proven effective in facing the challenges of modernization and pressures from global capitalism, by emphasizing ecological balance and a harmonious relationship between humans and nature. Through education that is passed down orally and based on experience, these two communities are able to maintain the continuity of their culture amidst the changing times. The conclusion of this study shows that indigenous education functions as a tool of liberation that is not only relevant for indigenous communities, but can also be an alternative model in fighting marginalization and maintaining the integrity of cultural identity and environmental sustainability.

Abstract

Hinduism is a teaching based on the Vedas and upholds the principle of sanatana dharma (eternal truth). Hindu social life is based on moral teachings that prioritize peace and harmony in life. However, the blurring of the values of the catur varna teaching as one of the foundations of Hindu morality and equating the catur varna teaching with the caste system (social stratification) causes various Hindu youth perspectives on these two concepts. Thus, this study seeks to describe the perspectives of Hindu adolescents on the teachings of catur varna and the caste system, analyze the causes of perspective errors, and examine efforts that can be made to straighten out misunderstandings. This research is qualitative research with case study method. Data were collected through observation, interviews, and documentation studies. The data collected was then analyzed using Miles and Huberman's data analysis which consists of data reduction, data display, and data verification. The results of this study show that Hindu teenagers have various views on the teachings of chess varna and the caste system. But in general, teenagers have a misunderstanding of the teachings of chess varna and there is a blurring of the meaning and values of the teachings of chess varna into a caste system. The misunderstanding of this concept is caused by various internal and external factors of Hindu adolescents. The efforts to overcome the misunderstanding include the integration of catur varna learning in education, community development, utilization of social media, and the role of family and religious leaders.
