Abstract

The ship’s electrical system heavily relies on a safe and reliable diesel generator foundation. However, many foundation designs currently used in the industry have not been comprehensively validated against classification standards, nor analyzed for resonance potential and fatigue life. This study aims to develop a diesel generator foundation design that complies with ship structural safety standards based on Lloyd’s Register (LR) regulations. The methods used include 3D modeling, structural and resonance analysis using the Finite Element Method (FEM), and validation through manual calculations. The results show that the initial design does not meet safety standards, while the LR-based design yields a maximum stress of 164.01 MPa and a maximum deformation of 0.99981 mm, with a fatigue life reaching 28 years. Both designs indicate no potential for resonance. This study recommends the LR-based foundation design as the optimal solution to ensure structural integrity, long service life, and compliance with maritime safety regulations.

Abstract

Dewantara Sumbang Vocational School has 4 majors, namely Business and Motorcycle Engineering, Multimedia, Graphic Design, and Sharia Banking and the current number of students is quite large, namely 537. The teacher keeps track of attendance for each topic in each class. The student attendance process is carried out manually, namely recording in the attendance book. Attendance book documents are susceptible to damage such as tearing, getting wet, and being lost. So it will cause difficulties during the recording process at the end of the semester and it requires many attendance book documents. Apart from that, it requires storage space for attendance documents. Using RFID in the design of an automatic attendance system to track students' attendance in class and Internet of Things (IoT) infrastructure is the solution to this issue. The study employs a Waterfall method approach, with steps starting with requirements analysis, and moving on to system design, testing, implementation, and maintenance. The research results are the design of an automated student attendance system based on IoT and RFID. The attendance system for 28 students in 1 class takes 16 minutes, 4 minutes faster than the manual attendance system, which is 20 minutes. Teachers can see the results of the attendance data recap through the website interface which includes information on subjects, classes, majors, academic year, semester, names of students present, KBM date, entry time, and class exit time.

Abstract

Indonesia is one of the countries that uses the most motorized vehicles, which increases air pollution and fuel crises. Using biofuel is one solution to overcome this problem. Methanol is used as a mixture of Pertamax to produce environmentally friendly and renewable biofuel. This is because methanol has high octane and oxygen. Mixing methanol in Pertamax was carried out to analyze the impact of Torque, Power, and Exhaust Gas Temperature (EGT) of a 150cc petrol engine. Methanol 5%, 10%, and 15% was mixed into Pertamax with engine speed variations of 1000, 2000 and 3000 rpm. Dynotest is used to measure engine performance and thermocouples to measure EGT. Test results show the highest increase in engine torque and power of up to 25% at a speed of 2000 rpm with the PM15 mixture compared to P100. The highest reduction in EGT value occurred when using the PM15 mixture at a speed of 1000 rpm up to 28% compared to P100. This shows that the addition of methanol to Pertamax increases torque and power and reduces the EGT of the gasoline engine.

Abstract

The waste sorting process produces organic and inorganic waste. It can be converted into Solid Recovered Fuel with the addition of a maximum of 20% plastic, which can be used for co-firing coal combustion in steam power systems. High humidity levels and the condition of organic waste with its various constituent components require drying and other treatments to increase the calorie content. Types of organic waste treatment, methods of drying, and decomposition of organic waste went through a fermentation process. The research aims to identify the effect of fermentation, addition of biomass, and plastic shreds of BBJP products on density, ash content, chlorine, and calorific value. Dimensions of organic waste powder at a level of 50 mesh and plastic shreds of 5-10 mesh are aimed at increasing the pellet/SRF bond. Mechanical testing data in the form of compression testing resulted in a level of resistance that exceeded pellet strength requirements and increased by 67%. Chlorine and sulfur levels are approaching the limit, but ash levels are still high. The calorific value of pellets in the fermented organic waste specimen treatment produces a higher calorific value compared to other treatments. Research on converting waste into co-firing fuel in solid form with the criteria for calorific value and physical properties that comply with the technical requirements for co-firing steam-powered systems can still be optimized to produce fuel with a higher calorie content. Reducing chlorine, sulfur, and ash levels is done for a low-carbon and environmentally friendly combustion process.

Abstract

In graphic design, many creative applications offer many templates. This design platform is suitable for creative designers and hobbyists such as marketers, bloggers, social media managers, etc. In a design workflow, users select a template and replace elements with their resources. Instead of creating one color palette for all elements, researchers extract multiple color palettes from each visual element in a graphic document and then combine them into a set of colors. Researchers design sample color schemes to complement color sets and we recommend colors that might be determined based on the color context in a multi-palette. Researchers conducted model training and created a color recommendation system for a collection of vector visual designs. The proposed color recommendation method is targeted to be a color prediction medium, as well as a color recommendation system on vector media. The results of this study are in the form of color recommendations for vector graphic design based on a multi-palette of visual elements.

Abstract

Technological developments in materials are increasingly evolving, one form of development is the type of composite insulation. One of the natural fiber composites currently available is a composite from palm fiber which provides increased dielectric strength. Partial discharge due to voids in the composite results in structures such as electrical treeing due to changes in the properties and morphology of the composite causing increased insulation failure and disrupting power distribution. This research tested the strength of Epoxy composite insulation and palm leaf ash filler. By combining these two materials, a complementary composite insulating material will be formed to prevent electrical treeing. The results of the research show that the composite insulating material with nipa palm fiber as filler has an average breakdown voltage value of 40 kV and is above the standard breakdown voltage value for medium voltage insulators of 30 kV. The addition of more and more palm leaf ash filling material will produce voids, thereby accelerating the occurrence of electrical treeing and decreasing the breakdown voltage of the insulation.

Abstract

In this article the author conducts research related to energy consumption studies on electric motorbike vehicles (SEMOLI) made and developed by the author. The purpose of the energy consumption study is to determine the energy consumption of electric motorbike vehicles that have been made for further improvement and development. The method used is experimentation with the first phase testing on a straight flat road for one kilometer with flat road conditions, this phase of experimental results shows an average energy consumption of 30 Wh, for an average uphill road consumption of 40 km / h and for the second phase of experimental data using experimental methods with speed parameters 30 - 35 km energy consumption has an average of 30 Wh, at speeds of 40 - 45 km / h energy consumption has an average of 28 Wh, and 50-55 km / h average energy consumption of 27 Wh. The test results show that on flat road conditions and the increasing speed, the energy consumption will decrease.

Abstract

This research aims to design a decomposing blade, sieving system, and test machine products. The method for completing coconut fiber processing machines consists of three stages, namely the design and production process stages, as well as machine product testing. This research produces the following data, namely the design of the untangling knife which is a combination of the functions of the coir untangling knife for random and woven results. Calculation of the equilibrium moment on the shaft obtained a value of 𝑅𝑉𝐵 is 28.68 N and the reaction at point A was 𝑅𝑉𝐴 is 28.32 N, with the diameter of the shaft used in the coconut fiber sieving machine transmission system being Ø28 mm. Fiber uniformity is obtained from twice decomposition processes, whereas the level of fiber/powder uniformity is influenced by the long sieving process time and also the high rotational speed of the sieve.

Abstract

An excavator is heavy equipment with a hydraulic system as the main drive and along with its uses, many parties have developed it as a means of production and as a means of learning. The education world needs excavators as learning tools and practice media are currently constrained by price when commercial units are used. Therefore, a learning media that is more compact but does not abandon the main essence of learning is needed. This research aims to analyze the front attachment design of the Zhugimada mini excavator using the finite element method. The research was carried out using the ANSYS application for the static load simulation process and testing was carried out with a bucket containing sand weighing 25 kg and using three hydraulic cylinders. The simulation results show that the maximum von Mises stress value in the bucket component is 43.226 MPa and the maximum deformation is 0,51285 mm in the tooth bucket so in general the design of the Zhugimada mini excavator front attachment components can be declared safe and can be continued in the fabrication process.

Abstract

Acetone-butanol-ethanol (ABE) is a preferred alternative energy for SI engines. This research uses an experimental method with an automatic SI engine, RON-90 fuel mixed with ABE1 (12:8:1)v/v, ABE2 (15:10:1)v/v and ABE3 (1i8:12:1) v/v. Engine speed is 4000-10000rpm, and compression ratio is 11.6:1. Emission and engine performance testing used EPSG4-Gas analyzer and Dynotest-chassis type 50L-BRT. This research aims to explore the mixture of RON-90 and ABE to optimize performance and exhaust emissions. This research shows that torque increases by an average of 14.7% at an engine speed of 6000rpm. Power increased significantly with an average value of 9.5% at an engine speed of 8000rpm, MEP increased by 0.5%, and thermal efficiency increased by 7%. SFC experienced a fairly optimal decrease of 15.6% on average. The exhaust gas emissions produced are CO and HC. The reduction in CO and HC occurred in the ABE3 variant with values of 8.2% and 1.6%, respectively.
