This study aimed to determine the improvement of mathematical problem solving abilities and self efficacy students of Junior High School through the Contextual Teaching and Learning approach. The method of this research is the quasi-experimental method with the research design of the post-test control group design. The population in this study was the seventh grade of SMPN 1 TelukJambe Barat City of Karawang. Determination of the sample is done by the technique used which is not random so the class selected as the experimental class is class VII D and VII A as the control class. Instruments given to students in the form of test questions (pretest-posttest) related to indicators of mathematical problem solving abilities. Analysis of data processing was carried out on the results tests of mathematical problem solving abilities of students at SMPN 1 TelukJambe Barat. To get the research data, the instruments were used in the form of tests (pretest-posttest) and self efficacy scale. The analysis of the study used the average difference test. The results of the study concluded: (1) Achievement and improvement of mathematical problem solving skills that are learned by using contextual teaching and learning approaches are better than students who receive learning with a scientific approach. (2) Mathematical self efficacy of students who learn to use Contextual Teaching and Learning is better than students with learning using a scientific approach.

This research is motivated by the results of previous research which shows that students' mathematical reasoning ability is not as expected. One of the lessons to improve the ability of mathematical reasoning is inductive learning. The purpose of this research is to know the improvement of students' mathematical reasoning ability as a result of inductive learning. This study is a quasi-experiment that implements two lessons namely inductive learning and conventional learning. Population in this research is a student of the junior high school in Regency of West Bandung. Sampling was done by purposive sampling and obtained two classes as research sample. The research instrument used is the test of mathematical reasoning ability. Based on the result of the analysis, it can be concluded that the improvement of mathematical reasoning ability of students who get inductive learning is better than students who get conventional learning.

This study aims to determine the effect of GeoGebra software on junior high school students' mathematical communication skills. The method used is the quasi-experimental method. This research was conducted at Pasundan Rongga Middle School. With class VIII A as an experimental class with 28 students and class VIII C as a control class with 28 students. This study uses instruments that have been tested and declared valid and reliable. The instrument was adjusted to the indicator of mathematical communication skills with the number of questions tested as many as 5 questions to obtain pretest and posttest data in both the experimental class and the control class. Data testing is done using normalized n-gain formula so that the n-gain data obtained is processed using the SPSS 20 application to perform parametric statistical tests. The results showed that the mathematical communication skills of students who learned using GeoGebra software were better than students who learned without using GeoGebra software.

This preliminary study aims to analyze the mastery of mathematical communication skills of class VIII students in junior high school in Bandung regency of triangular and rectangular flat building material. In this preliminary study, the research method used is a qualitative descriptive method with 5 students of class VIII as a sample and research instruments used are 5 items about the instrument of mathematical communication ability. Based on the observations made on 5 students it is found that mastery of mathematical communication skills owned by grade VIII students in one junior high school in Bandung Regency is still relatively low.

This study aims to determine the level of ability of mathematical understanding of junior high school students VII in Karawang on the matter of building flat. The type of research used is a qualitative descriptive research. Sempel in this research is students of SMP Negeri 1 Batujaya. The data collected in the form of written test results as much as 5 items that refer to the ability of students' mathematical understanding. Most students can not understand what the problem wants. Based on the results of research students average percentage of results from the test description is only reached 58%. Judging from the test results can be said that students' mathematical understanding ability is still low.

This research aims to determine the ability of mathematical reasoning of students of class VIII SMP about the rectangular and triangular material. The research method used is descriptive qualitative research. Subjects in this study were 30 students in one junior high school in Cianjur District. The reasoning ability reasoning instrument used is an essay form. Indicator used in this research there are 7 indicators of reasoning ability that is drawing logical conclusion; provide explanations using images; establishing direct proof, indirect proof, and by proving by mathematical induction; filed the infringement rules, checked the validity of the arguments and compiled a valid argument; propose opponent example; estimate answers and solution processes; using relationship patterns to analyze, make analogies, generalizations, and compile and test conjectures.

This study aims to determine the improvement of mathematical communication skills of junior high school students from the influence of contextual approach. This research takes the form of a posttest pretest design that compares the influence of a contextual approach with a conventional approach. This study has a population that is all students of SMP class VII in Cianjur District while the sample is a student of class VII SMP Plus Al-Ittihad Cianjur. The samples were taken at random into experimental groups and control groups. Based on the data in the field, it can be concluded that the effect of improving mathematical communication ability of junior high school students who gain learning using contextual approach is better than conventional learning. Therefore, the effect of improving learning with contextual approach is much better while conventional learning is still very less.

This study aims to describe the mathematical communication skills of junior high school students in Cidaun VIII and examine the errors in completing test questions about statistical materials. The research method used is description method. The study was conducted with the subject of 22 students of SMP class VIII in Cidaun. Problem test given in the form of 5 urain problem. The result of the research shows that the mathematical communication ability as a whole is moderate and there is 1 indicator which is good criteria that is for the indicator to restate the infoermasi using the distribution table appropriately. And there are 4 indicators that enter good criteria that is; the indicator of writing the idea or step of problem solving clearly and appropriately (Good); indicators Present information back using a bar chart and write down the idea or step of problem solving clearly and appropriately (Good); the indicator states or explains the mathematical model of image form into plain language (Good) and the indicator writes what is known and asked using mathematical formula (Good). And can be seen the average score of all questions from all students included into the good criteria that is 69.77%.

Mathematical communication is the ability to express ideas or mathematical ideas both orally and in writing. Success in learning mathematics influenced cognitive aspects such as mathematical ability, affective aspects such as self concept, and gender differences. The method in this research using quantitative approach with the method correlational which aims to know the influence of gender and self concept towards the achievement of mathematical communication of junior high school students in the matter of building a rectangular flat. The population of this study is all students of class VII in one of the State Junior High School in West Bandung with selected sample of 11 female students and 16 male students. The instrument used consisted of a test of mathematical communication skills in the form of a description consisting of seven items and non-test instruments consisting of 10 positive statements and 10 negative statements of self concept. The result of this research shows that gender differences influence to students' mathematical communication ability. Female students are more dominant in terms of cognitive and answer math problems in writing with complete than male students. In addition, students' mathematical communication skills are not influenced by self concept.

This research is useful to describe the low ability students in problem solving as well as errors of students in the matter of the story SPLDV and provide an alternative settlement. This research was carried out with the method of qualitative and descriptive indicators and analysis tailored to the problem solving based on the analysis of polya and using descriptive qualitative methods. The subject of this research totalled 33 learners class X SMK in Cimahi school year 2018/2019. The collection of data on research using the method of observation, test, and an interview. From the results of the tests and interviews it is known that the basic concept on reserved SPLDV students are still less so there is confusion in resolving the matter, because students can only understand the problem of 2.57%, drafting plans of 8.63%, making plans and corrects return of 15%, then the conclusion is that the problem-solving ability of the students of SMK owned is still low.
