Abstract

One of the potential that can improve student competence about mathematic is problem solving ability, because the competence is mathematic’s heart. Student success for improving problem solving ability supported by students’s interest in learning activity. The reaserch approach conduct this research using qualitative with descriptive method. Sample in the research consist of 35 student at the VIII-E class in SMPN 3 Cimahi. Instruments used problem solving ability test and  interest in student learning scale non-tes. Based on research results obtained that problem solving ability is enough to achieve the criteria. Futhermore, the scala show that the half of student have good motivation in learning mathematics.

Abstract

This research is an qualitative descriptive research which aim to know high or low the ability of mathematical creative thinking and mathematical critical thinking on system of two variable equations. The subject of this research were 30 students at 10th grade in one of the vocational high school in Galanggang Village. Data collection is done by giving 5 questions  for each creative thinking ability and critical thinking ability to the students. Data obtained are then processed and analyzed later will concluded that mathematical creative thinking ability and mathematical critical thinking ability in one of the vocational high school in Galanggang Village is still low. This conclusion is based on results the average of the percentage obtained from the five indicators of creative thinking ability is 21.81% and from critical thinking ability is 43.44%.

Abstract

The purpose of this study is to analyze mathematic creatively thinking and analyze students' difficulties in solving the problem of mathematical creative thinking on Trigonometric material in review of self confidence. The subjects of this study were students of class XI MAN Kota Cimahi that consists of 27 students. The method used in this research is descriptive method with qualitative approach. The stage of this research consists of  five stages, including: filling self confidence, tests of mathematical creative thinking ability, interviews, analysze and take a conclusions. The results of the research showed that, when that self confidence affect the improvement of mathematical creative thinking in students. The higher self confidence in the students, the curiosity of students will be encouraged and will increase the ability of creative thinking mathematics. Otherwise, if the self confidence in students is lower, than the student's curiosity is less encouraged and this will have an impact to increase the ability to think creative mathematics.

Abstract

The purpose of this study is to show the types of difficulties MA students have in solving mathematical problems using the bloom taxonomy and the factors that cause it. The approach of this research is descriptive. As a sample of the study were 35 students of the X-MIA2 MA in Cimahi. Data collection is done by using a written test in the form of a description and equipped with interviews with the subject to track the type of difficulty; namely the difficulty of factual understanding, conceptual understanding, procedural understanding, and understanding of metacognitive and causal factors. The questions tested were 6 items. Data analysis was carried out by calculating many difficulties of students supported by the results of tests and interviews, then followed by conclusions. The results showed the highest metacognitive difficulties experienced by students. The order of the level of difficulty also occurs in terms of difficulties in knowing, understanding, applying, analyzing, evaluating, and creating. the factors that cause difficulties based on the results of a review of the answers of students who are not capable of mastering the concept, understanding the concept of determining a function of the function of the composition known, knowing in detail about the concept of function composition and carelessness of students in working on the problem, able to apply factors causes, understanding the material preconditions, determining strategies, the concept of the nature of the function of composition and algebraic operations, understanding the concept of the function of composition only knowing how to use it cannot use the strategy correctly and are also unable to find errors.

Abstract

The balance between cognitive and mathematical affective abilities is very important to be mastered by students in order to face future challenges. Background of the research is based on the students’ low ability of mathematical problem solving and mathematical learning activeness. The purpose of this research is finding the relation between students’ mathematical problem-solving ability and students’ mathematical learning activeness by using Realistic Mathematics Education approach using GeoGebra. The method in this research is the experimental research in the form of pre-test-post-test Control Group Design. In addition, the population for this research is the entire Public middle schools (SMP Negeri) in West Bandung regency. From all public middle schools in West Bandung, a school named SMP Negeri 3 Batujajar is randomly selected, and two classes of the 1st-gradestudents of the school are selected as the research sampling data. The first class becomes an experimental class which gains learning using GeoGebra assisted realistic mathematics educational approach and the other class gets common learning. The result of the research shows that there is a more positive relationship between mathematical problem-solving ability and mathematical learning activeness of learning by using Realistic Mathematics Education approach with GeoGebra rather than using common learning. In addition, the approach gives positive impacts, such as more interactive learning, understanding concepts, and more meaningful learning.

Abstract

The aims of this research are to know about mathematical problem-solving ability student of senior high school towards trigonometry material, mathematical reasoning ability student of senior high school towards the statistical material, and self-efficacy ability in mathematics learning students of a senior high school. The research used descriptive qualitative research, and the research object is XI IPA of senior high school. The chosen students are students who have learned about trigonometry and statistic. The chosen students who become sample are 30 students. In this research, the technic used tests, with the instruments used are question and questionnaire. The test consists of 5 question about mathematics problem-solving, 5 question of mathematical reasoning, and 40 questionnaires of self-efficacy ability. According to the results of our research, it can be concluded that the students' ability in problem-solving and reasoning mathematics is low, while students' ability in self-efficacy is good. It can be seen that the students have good self-efficacy ability along with the problem-solving ability and reasoning ability that are still low.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the ability of mathematical understanding of class VII students on the material wake flat. The type of research used is a qualitative descriptive research. The subjects of this study consisted of 5 students selected at random. The data collected in the form of written test results as much as 5 points about the ability of students' mathematical understanding. The test results were analyzed according to the students' mathematical comprehension indicator. Data analysis is done to analyze the extent of students' mathematical understanding ability. Based on the result of research that students mathematical understanding ability still not enough in each indicator. From this research can be concluded that students mathematical understanding ability in VII grade in finished the matter of getting up flat is still low

Abstract

This study describes the ability of mathematical connections. This study is a qualitative descriptive research with the subject of research as many as 27 students of class IX SMP Negeri 01 Cipongkor West Bandung regency. Subject given a written test in the form of an instrument about the connection consisting of eight items. After that, researchers conducted interviews with selected subjects. From the result of student completion and interview, it is found that the level of mathematical connection ability of junior high school students is still low. This is seen from the mistakes that students do in solving the problem, where students actually already understand the problem quite well as can mention the elements that are known and asked. However, students are less conscientious about how the relationship between the data is known and what is asked. So that students are wrong in choosing the right strategy in the settlement. In addition, this is also influenced by students' lack of understanding in the application of formulas. The errors are caused by several factors, including students are less understanding of the material and students are not able to transform the issues submitted into the knowledge it has.

Abstract

The ability to think critically is a process whereby one enables one to formulate and evaluate his own beliefs and opinions. The method used for the analysis of this research is Qualitative Descriptive Method that aims to analyze the results of students' work on critical thinking questions and self-tracking questionnaire students in SMPN 3 Batujajar West Bandung regency. The sample studied is 1 class of students who amounted to 39 students in class VIII-C SMPN 3 Batujajar in West Bandung regency. The test question used is critical mathematical thinking with 3 questions and non test self-efficacy on each student. The result of the analysis is the ability of mathematical critical thinking in junior high school in West Bandung regency based on the written description test is still quite low. This research is part of the thesis that will be examined by the author.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menelaah dan menganalisis mengenai: (1) Kemampuan siswa dalam membuat konjektur, menyusun argumen, merumuskan definisi dan generalisasi, (2) Kemampuan siswa dalam menyatakan peristiwa sehari-hari dalam bahasa atau simbol matematika, (3) Kemampuan siswa dalam menghubungkan benda nyata, gambar, dan diagram ke dalam ide matematika, (4) Kemampuan siswa dalamn menjelaskan ide, situasi, dan relasi matematik secara lisan dan tulisan dengan benda nyata, gambar, grafik, dan aljabar. Metode dalam penelitian ini menggunakan metode deskriptif kualitatif. Populasi dalam penelitian ini adalah siswa kelas XI SMK TI PEMBANGUNAN CIMAHI. Berdasarkan hasil penelitian diperoleh yaitu kemampuan siswa dalam membuat konjektur, menyusun argument, merumuskan definisi dan generalisasi tergolong kurang dengan persentase 37,5%. Kemampuan siswa dalam menyatakan peristiwa sehari-hari dalam bahasa atau simbol matematika tergolong tinggi dengan presentase 86,7%. Kemampuan siswa dalam menghubungkan benda nyata, gambar, dan diagram ke dalam ide matematika tergolong kurang dengan persentase 48,3%. Kemampuan siswa dalam menjelaskan ide, situasi, dan relasi matematik secara lisan dan tulisan dengan benda nyata, gambar, grafik, dan aljabar tergolong kurang dengan persentase 25%.
