Abstract

Vocational education is an educational program that aims to prepare personnel who can establish expertise and skills in their field. For example, students majoring in civil engineering are expected to master skills in drawing designs and measuring distances and directions. In basic courses, student will take physics and mathematics courses, where one of the concepts studied is measuring the size of angles and the resultant of several vectors. The purpose of this study is to describe the application of the PACE learning model to improve the drawing skills of students majoring in civil engineering. The type of research used is descriptive research. The research subject first semester students of the Civil Engineering Department for the 2021/2022 academic year, totaling 62 people. Data analysis using SPSS software with descriptive test. After students have learned, most of the 45 students (75%) can use arcs well, and put the initial position of a vector’s distance, and continue with the second, third, anda resultant vectors with the correct direction and angle positions. The application of the PACE learning model has a significant effect on students’ drawing skills in vector material. Students not only acquire cognitive knowledge, but have affective and spicomotor skills in terms of drawing and using rules and arcs.

Abstract

Social arithmetic is a very important mathematical material to be studied because it is concerned with everyday life. But in reality many students do not understand the concept of social arithmetic well so the need for VBA for Excel as a medium of learning to motivate students in learning social arithmetic. This study aims to analyze student’s learning motivation in the use VBA for Excel media on social arithmetic material. This research was conducted by using the qualitative descriptive research method. The subject of this research was a class VII junior high school student of 5 people, consisting of 2 male students and 3 female students. The instrument used in this study was a learning motivation indicators that amounted to 5 indicators and consisted of 10 positive and negative statements scale. The data processing technique used is the percentage scale of a student’s learning motivation attitude with the help of the Likert scale. This research indicated that learning using VBA for Excel media produces positive. These results can be seen from the average student response including strong categories, with a percentage of 68,5%.

Abstract

Online mathematics learning is able to facilitate curriculum demands in the Covid-19 pandemic, but the impact on student motivation is always ignored. This study aims to examine the relationship between student self-determination in the teacher's perspective and teacher self-determination towards online learning, either partially or simultaneously. A descriptive-correlational survey design was used in this study, with five mathematics teachers in Junior High Schools in Bandung as subjects, which were taken by convenience sampling. Questionnaires and unstructured interviews were used in this study. The questionnaire used to collect self-determination data was adopted from The American Institutes for Research Self Determination Questionnaire, while the online learning quality questionnaire was adopted from Alarcón et al. (2020). The results showed that there was a positive relationship: between student self-determination in the teacher's perspective and teacher self-determination towards online learning either partially or simultaneously, between aspects of teacher capacity in self-determination on teacher's digital-pedagogical abilities and digital resources, between aspects of student capacity in the teacher's perspective on student empowerment and student digital competence, between student capacity and teacher capacity for the implementation of online learning. Furthermore, the perception of mathematics teachers towards online learning are key elements in the effectiveness of online mathematics learning.

Abstract

The limitations of distance learning are thought to cause students to have difficulty understanding mathematics, especially statistics. This study aims to analyze the impact of distance learning on students' conceptions of statistical material. An exploratory case study was used in this study, with a single case and single analysis. In this study, students had difficulty in solving statistical problems during distance learning, while a single analysis was used to examine the factors causing difficulties from the impact of distance learning. The research subjects were 68 students in two class XII AKL at one State Vocational School in Karawang Regency. Test and non-test instruments were used in this study, five questions were explained in statistics material and structured interviews about the impact of distance learning. The indicator of difficulty on statistical questions with high criteria concluded that 73% of students had difficulty in explaining ideas, situations, and mathematical relationships orally and in writing on statistical material. This is because students find it difficult to understand the material, explain and analyze the data given in the problem or problem. These findings were obtained as a result of the lack of direct learning interaction in mathematical activities when online or offline.

Abstract

Student Activity Sheet is one of the learning materials that is often used in mathematics lessons in Indonesia. This study aims to develop student activity with a discovery learning model. The method used in this research is development research which refers to the development stage by Plomp and Nieveen which consists of three stages, namely, initial investigation, prototyping stage, and assessment stage. However, researchers conducted research only up to the step of making prototypes and testing the validation of learning materials. At the initial investigation stage, the data on difficulties in understanding the concepts of students and in the material for the sequence and series determining the nth term were analyzed. At the prototype stage, the researcher developed the student activity sheet which was carried out by adopting the steps of the discovery learning method. The results of developing a valid learning material are useful for providing examples of student activity sheet with a discovery learning model. The results of the validation of the Student Activity Sheet Implementation Plan obtained that the final criteria were very good and were in the very valid category, which means that the student activity sheet is suitable for use in learning.

Abstract

The Research and Development (R & D) method was used in this study to develop interactive mathematics learning media using the Android-based MIT App Invemtor application on the Pythagorean subject which consisted of: (1) needs analysis, (2) initial media development, (3) media validation and media revision, (4) media testing and media revision, (5) final product. Data collection is used through a questionnaire/questionnaire. Validation was carried out by a team of material experts, a team of media experts, and students to determine the feasibility of the media. The results of the assessment given to material experts and media experts use the Guttman scale. While the results of the media assessment to students using a Likert scale with a value range of 1-5. Respondents were students from class IX at SMP Putra Juang, Cianjur, totaling 8 students. The data analysis technique in this research is using descriptive qualitative. The average value of 90.27% was obtained from two media experts in the appropriate category. The average value of 87.5% was obtained from two material experts in the appropriate category. The average value of 93.02% was obtained from the results of field trials with a very feasible category.

Abstract

The purpose of the study was to determine whether there was a difference between the average mathematics learning outcomes of students using the online learning model assisted by Wondershare Filmora learning media and the average mathematics learning outcomes of students using the online learning model without the aid of Wondershare Filmora learning media. This type of research is a comparative quantitative research. The population in this study were students of class IX SMP Negeri 1 Kalirejo. Data analysis was processed by two-party t-test and one-party t-test with the prerequisites for normality and homogeneity tests. The results showed that there was a difference in the average mathematics learning outcomes of students who used the online learning model assisted by Wondershare Filmora learning media and the average mathematics learning outcomes of students who used the online learning model without the aid of Wondershare Filmora learning media. One-sided t-test shows that the average mathematics learning outcomes of students who use the online learning model assisted by the Wondershare Filmora learning media are better than the average mathematics learning outcomes of students who use the online learning model without the aid of Wondershare Filmora learning media.
