Abstract

This research is a type of qualitative research that aims to describe online learning of one variable linear equation (PLSV) material for seventh grade students at MTs Ibnu Sina. The research subjects were 7 people, the selection of students was random. Data were obtained through student response questionnaires, interview guidelines and test questions.  Then the data obtained is analyzed and then presented in the form of a percentage according to the indicator. The results showed that students prefer face-to-face learning for mathematics. From the results of the study it was found that 85.7% of students prefer offline learning, one of the reasons is seen from the interaction factor, in online learning the interaction between students and teachers is limited. The student test results showed that there were 4 types of student errors in answering the questions, 1) understanding the questions, 2) compiling mathematical models, 3) completing mathematical models, and 4) interpreting the questions. The highest percentage is making a mathematical model as much as 57.1% of the 7 students who took the test.

Abstract

Through mathematics students can develop various abilities such as: reasoning ability, analytical thinking ability, critical thinking ability and problem solving ability. During the COVID-19 pandemic, teachers are required to maintain the substance of the mathematics material taught to students. This study aims to describe and analyze the teacher's strategy in implementing online mathematics learning at the elementary school level. The sample of this study was elementary school teachers totaling 129 people spread over 33 elementary schools in the South Sulawesi region. The instrument used in the study to collect data was in the form of a strategy questionnaire for elementary school teachers to carry out mathematics learning and interview guidelines. Data analysis techniques in this study consist of data reduction, presenting data, and drawing conclusions. Based on the results of the study, it was concluded that online learning was not more effective than face-to-face learning in class. However, various strategies are carried out by teachers to overcome these problems so that online mathematics learning can be carried out in accordance with the needs of students. These strategies include: making learning videos, building good communication with parents, providing additional lesson hours, forming small study groups for students, encouraging parents to participate in learning so that they can assist teachers in guiding children to study at home.

Abstract

The outbreak of the Corona virus or Covid-19 in Indonesia since March 2020 has affected various aspects of life, especially education in Indonesia. One of the government's policies to suppress the spread of the Corona virus is to close school activities. Online learning is a solution to overcome the challenges of face-to-face learning. The Google Classroom application is an application created by Google specifically developed to support the implementation of online learning. The subjects of this study were 87 students of class 11th. The instrument used was a mathematics achievement test and a questionnaire. The data analysis technique uses descriptive qualitative data analysis, where student learning outcomes achieve learning completeness of at least 70%. The results showed that 59.77% of students were very happy with the implementation of Google Classroom when learning Mathematics during the pandemic, and 56.32% of students felt happy when doing independent assignments given through Google Classroom. 56.32% of students feel interested in the mathematics learning process. 62.07% of students find it easy to apply the Google Classroom application in the Mathematics learning process. However, based on the results of several indicators, some students think that face-to-face learning is still very much needed. In addition, teachers are required to support the activities of their students to stay motivated to engage in online learning.

Abstract

The material for the polyhedron is a primary subject for mathematics that students must learn at the semester VIII junior high school level. However, the reality in the field is that studying the material is still considered difficult by students. Many students have some problems in solving the Higher Order Thinking Skill (HOTS) questions of the material. This research was conducted to examine the factors that cause student errors in answering the HOTS questions on the polyhedron. The method used in this research is descriptive qualitative with research subjects is the IX grade students of SMP Negeri 02 Cipongkor, with a sample from IX-F students, 11 boys, and 17 girls. The data analysis technique used in this research is to analyze the factors that cause student errors in solving the test questions of the data sharing materials and then calculate the percentage score for each question and interpretation based on Arikunto understanding criteria. Based on the results of the study, it was found that the factors that caused student errors in solving the problem were: 1) Students had difficulty in solving problems at the re-examination stage because students could not prove the truth of the answers they had obtained; 2) lack of accuracy in interpreting problems and writing formulas; 3) lack of understanding of prerequisite material; 4) difficulty in determining the length of the cube and cuboid edges; 5) difficulty in calculating the volume and surface area of a trapezoidal prism.

Abstract

This research is motivated by the fact that each student's different way of thinking in dealing with problems will produce different solutions. This different way of thinking is influenced by the schemata of knowledge that are formed in each other's minds. so that diversity can describe the way students think in the learning process, especially in solving problem solving problems. In this case, self-efficacy acts as an affective aspect that affects how students think, motivate themselves, and build confidence in students in the learning process. Therefore, this study aims to conduct a literature review related to the diversity of students' ways of thinking in solving mathematical problems in terms of self-efficacy. The research method chosen in this research is a systematic literature study. Data collection was obtained from the Google Schoolar database using the Publish or Perish application. The results of this study can contribute to further research for researchers who compile research on this issue.

Abstract

This study aims to explain the mistakes of junior high school students in solving social arithmetic story problems and analyze the factors. The research method taken is descriptive qualitative. The research subjects were seventh grade students of SMP Negeri 8 Cimahi. Data collection in this study was carried out by using a mathematical test method with four questions of social arithmetic and interviews with students who made mistakes. The data analyzed were taken from 10 students' answers by means of data analysis used for this study, namely data reduction, data presentation and conclusion drawing. After the tests and interviews were carried out, the results of the tests and interviews with student answers were analyzed and conclusions were drawn about what mistakes students often experienced in solving story questions on social arithmetic material. From the results of the study, it was shown that the students' mistakes in working on story problems on social arithmetic material were that students did not understand the problem because the social arithmetic material given was about story questions, errors in making mathematical models, namely: students made mistakes in operating the answers. on the questions, and errors in the process or steps of working on the questions, namely: writing down what is known and determining what is being asked. Therefore, the factors that often cause students to make mistakes are that there are still many students who do not understand the basic concepts, students are less thorough in understanding story questions, so students do not understand the concept of arithmetic operations well.
