Abstract

“Lokat Mala” is a contemporary dance work inspired by the rumpaka mamaos of the Cianjuran song entitled “Lokat Mala”. The atmosphere of harmonizing songs stirs the soul, gives longing for a cool, peaceful, and serene rural atmosphere. Lokat Mala leads to a process of self-cleaning when humans try to reflect on the balance of the relationship between God, humans and Nature. Stuart Hall's representation theory is used to interpret mamaos Lokat Mala as content ideas which explain, translate, and express ideas including meaning, language, culture, concepts, reality and imagination. The method of creation or creative process applies the concept of Alma Hawkins covering exploration, improvisation and formation. Jaqueline Smith's construction method used in constructing sensitivity includes auditory stimulation, visual stimulation, kinesthetic stimulation, tactile stimulation and idea stimulation. The embodiment of religious ideas and experiences about self-memory, represented in the form of a dance structure as a symbol of harmony and balance in outward and spiritual life. Abstract

Sintren was born and developed in the coastal areas of the island of Java, precisely in the Cirebon area. Sintren is unique and sacred in which makes the dancers feel the trance (angelic trance). This study analyzes the meaning of the symbols applying the symbol theory. Susanne Langer divides art symbols into two categories, discursive and presentational symbol theory. Discursively, sintren has several sequential stages. First, sintren is tied. Then she is put into a cage, exiting from the cage while clothes have been changed. Getting out from the cage, the dancers are already in their full costume including the glasses. The final phase is the dancer to be awaken from the trance conditions. Meanwhile for presentation symbol, it is initially as cleaning village ritual for the safety and blessing in the village. This ritual is to pray for the village to be protected from catastrophe or unwanted calamities. Keywords: Art, dance, sintren, trance, symbol

Abstract

Karinding is an entertaining instrument made of palm midrib or bamboo which has long flat form similar to fork. In recent years, karinding has been considered to be a musical instrument which can be played together with common musical instruments. Karinding was once temporarily extinct in Sundanese cultural society until resurrected in 2003. This emergence was mainly by creativity of Abah Olot who has been trying to revive and reinvent several Sundanese traditional musical instruments like celempung that has been developed into celempung rèntèng and melodic celempung. Besides, Abah Olot also modified kohkol into kohkol latung. This is all for his mission to resurrect and to make karinding more appealing to modern cultural society. In line with this, Abah Olot created a musical group called Giri Kerencèng which combined karinding with his reinvented Sundanese traditional musical instruments. This writing reveals Abah Olot’s creativity. The existentialism theory is used in the discussion. Existentialism Hasbunallah wani’malwakiil are two basic concepts. First, the being-in-the-world concept and secondly is the nonbeing concept. This writing is written to describe how Abah Olot’s existence in preserving and developing karinding as Sundanese traditional musical instrument and it’s impact both to the musical instrument itself and the societies.Keyword: Karinding, AbahOlot, Creativity, Existence

Abstract

Mask Banjet is a folk theater which was born and developed from the community in Karawang Regency. The focus of this study is on the play of Topeng Banjet Abah Pendul performance. The analysis applies a critical sociology of art approach. In this study, the text of the play story which has been analyzed as a source of document data is Gordon Muda as a representation of the story text. Social inequality narratives are found to be thematic. The story of the play is presented in a comedic way with the story of Odah as a wife whose husband is left helpless economically. Her child is hungry. Buying rice is very difficult. To fulfil the necessities of life, various affairs are carried out such as being washermen, farm laborers, lawn mowers, selling fried food and borrowing money from Emok Bank. Gordon Young and his men carried out robberies. The robberies were planned to be used as the business capital. The description in the story above is the narrative of social inequality in the text of the performance. Abstract

The existence of the Wangsakerta Manuscript phenomenon is an indication and source of data to be followed up as ideas or ideas in writing (story script) and visual works. The story script or the play contains pseudo fiction with a colossal nuance typical of the archipelago which was inspired by a fragment of the Sargah I Parwa I Wangsakerta Manuscript about the Nirleka era in Tatar Parahyangan. The issues raised were the issue of the existence and power conflict between the stealth clan and the human clan which led to war. Moving on from this, the creation work is entitled “Wiracarita Batara Kamasara”. This story tells about the struggle and heroism of a young man named Kamasara in fighting tyranny and evil, beside the mission to restore his Kabuyutan honor which has been destroyed by the demon clan. Actualizing this invention is through a qualitative method including field observation and literature studies. Anthropologically, the theoretical study used in this study is hermeneutic conception promoted by Paul Ricoure regarding Metaphor. Abstract

ABSTRACTThe development of technology enables us to use new media to communicate dance creations. Dance flm is one of the models that can be applied to realize Ngaruhu’k’-ng dance works that can be appreciated virtually. The dance flm Ngaruhu’k’-ng is a form of transfer from the epic Takna Lawe’ of the Kayaan community implying the importance of respecting nature. Studies on Takna Laweepic shows teachings about the atitude of life in protecting nature as a source of life for humans. Meanwhile, there are many natural disasters due to forest destruction. The issue of deforestation is the content in the work of Dance Film Ngaruhu’k’-ng. The 4P’s of Mel Rhodes’ Creativity Model and Alma M Hawkins’ creativity theory are applied to produce culturally engineered product. The artprodut describes the socio-cultural of Kalimantan in anger, sadness, as well as resistance as a form of struggle to survive the impacts of deforestation. Dance film Ngaruhu’k’-ng merupakan bentuk alih wahana dari epos Takna Lawe’ masyarakat Kayaan, yang menyiratkan tentang pentingnya menghormati alam. Kajian terhadap epos Takna Lawe’ menemukan ajaran tentang sikap hidup dalam menjaga alam sebagai sumber kehidupan bagi manusia. Sementara saat ini banyak terjadi berbagai bencana alam akibatkerusakan hutan. Isu deforestasi menjadi konten dalam karya Dance Film Ngaruhu’k’-ng. Melalui metode 4P’s of Creativity Model Mel Rhodes dan teori kreativitas Alma M Hawkins menghasilkan produk rekayasa budaya yang menggambarkan sosial budaya Kalimantan dalam kemarahan, kesedihan, sekaligus perlawanan sebagai bentuk dari perjuangan untuk bertahan hidup dari dampak deforestasi. Abstract

ABSTRACTDomyak is a ritual means of asking for rain at the foot of Mount Burangrang, Pasir AnginVillage, Darang District and Purwakarta Regency. In 1920, domyak was called chickpeas but in1990 it became domyak (ngadogdog and rampayak) meaning playing dogdog music with dances.This paper aims to examine the pedagogical values contained in the domyak ritual and the domyakritual process. The presentation is carried out in several stages which are also accompanied by severalforms of performing arts. The domyak ritual is performed in the form of helaran or procession orusing a stage. Bloom’s taxonomic theory is applied to explore pedagogical values in domyak rituals.Qualitative data were collected through observation, interviews, and documentation. The results ofthe study include the pedagogical values contained in the goals of education, educational content,and educational tools used. The purpose of education is that each of the member of the communitiesshould master traditional customs, especially in the domyak ritual to ask for rain; The contents ofeducation are ritual traditions which have been passed down from generation to generation fromthe 1920s to the present; Educational tools used in the form of habituation, supervision, orders,prohibitions and rewards in these ritual activities, such as: in starting the ritual by praying and thecommand to bathe the cat in the ritual activity.Keywords: Pedagogical value, domyak ritualABSTRAKDomyak merupakan sarana ritual meminta hujan yang berasal dari kaki GunungBurangrang Desa Pasir Angin Kecamatan Darangdan Kabupaten Purwakarta. Pada tahun1920 Domyak tersebut dinamakan buncis dan pada tahun 1990 berubah menjadi Domyakyang berarti (ngadogdog dan rampayak) bermain musik dogdog dengan tarian. Tulisan inibertujuan untuk mengkaji nilai-nilai pedagogis yang terdapat pada ritual Domyak sertaposes ritual domyak. Penyajiannya dilakukan dalam beberapa tahapan-tahapan yang jugadiiringi oleh beberapa bentuk seni pertunjukan. Ritual Domyak dipertunjukkan dalambentuk helaran atau arak-arakan maupun menggunakan panggung. Teori taksonomiBloom digunakan untuk menggali nilai-nilai pedagogis dalam ritual domyak. Datakualitatif dikumpulkan melalu observasi, wawancara, dan dokumentasi. Hasil Penelitianmencakup nilai-nilai pedagogis yang terdapat dalam tujuan pendidikan, pendidikan, isipendidikan serta alat pendidikan yang digunakan. Tujuan pendidikan yakni setiap wargamasyarakat harus menguasai adat tradisi terutama dalam ritual Domyak untuk memintahujan; Isi pendidikan yakni tradisi ritual yang diturunkan secara turun temurun dari tahun1920 sampai saat ini; Alat pendidikan yang digunakan berupa pembiasaan, pengawasan,perintah, larangan dan ganjaran dalam kegiatan ritual tersebut, seperti: dalam memulairitual dengan berdoa dan perintah untuk memandikan kucing dalam kegiatan ritualtersebut.Kata Kunci: Nilai pedagogis, ritual domyak

Abstract

ABSTRACTSumur 7 Cibulan Kuningan, West Java, is a religious tourism object which is rarely deserted by public. One of the factors is that Sumur 7 is believed as the remains of King Siliwangi. The focus of the study is on identifying the signs at Sumur 7 area as a form of sacredness believed by the community. Ferdinand de Saussure’s semiotics is used to analyze the structure of the sacred formation signs at Sumur 7. The concept of Saussure’s semiotics is a system of sign dichotomy, namely signifer and signifed. Signifer is the material aspect while signifed is the mental aspect. The fnding shows that the naming of Sumur 7 and positioning of the serial numbers of the visits are signs which are relatedto the myth of Prabu Siliwangi and the concept of Tritangtu Sunda. The relationship of these signs forms the community’s belief system towards the sacredness of Sumur 7 Cibulan.Keyword: Sumur 7, Prabu Siliwangi, semiotics, sacred, TritangtuABSTRAKSumur 7 Cibulan Kuningan Jawa Barat adalah objek wisata religi yang tidak pernah sepi dikunjungi masyarakat. Salah satu faktornya, Sumur 7 ini lekat dengan mitos yang diyakini masyarakat sebagai salah satu petilasan Prabu Siliwangi. Fokus kajian ini pada identifkasi tanda-tanda yang terdapat di area Sumur 7 sebagai pembentuk sakralitas yang diyakini oleh masyarakatnya. Semiotika Ferdinand de Saussure digunakan untuk menganalisis struktur pembentukan tanda sakralitas pada Sumur 7. Konsep dasar darisemiotika Saussure adalah sistem dikotomi tanda yakni penanda dan petanda. Penanda merupakan aspek material sedangkan petanda merupakan aspek mental. Ditemukan bahwa, penamaan ketujuh sumur dan pemetaan atau penempatan nomor urut tahapan kunjungan merupakan tanda-tanda yang memiliki relasi dengan mitos Prabu Siliwangi dan konsep Tritangtu Sunda. Relasi tanda-tanda inilah yang membentuk sistem keyakinanmasyarakat terhadap sakralitas Sumur 7 Cibulan.Kata Kunci: Sumur 7, Prabu Siliwangi, Semiotika, Sakralitas, Tritangtu.

Abstract

ABSTRACTThe figure of Si Kabayan has always been identified as a stupid, lazy but clever character who can always beat his rivals. However, his figure in a new genre film, namely a sketch film on youtube media, has a shift in character. Si Kabayan's bumpkin figure has been deconstructed into a Kabayan living in the city. Likewise, his stupidity has shifted into one who has religious values as the other side of the Si Kabayan character in the original story. Using Derrida's deconstruction analysis, it can be seen the symbols presented through the visual narration of the film entitled Si Kabayan Ditinggal Kawin published on Kampung Utan TV Youtube channel. The study was conducted through narrative and visual stories at the level of representational reality and ideology. The changes occuring in a number of visual narrative elements are seen as a form of rearranging the narrative of Si Kabayan's life in oral stories. Based on the results of the reading of the narrative in the film Kabayan Ditinggal Kawin, there is a reversal of the binary opposition hierarchy, namely; (1) reversal of the binary opposition hierarchy of smart and stupid, (2) reversal of the binary opposition hierarchy of men and women, (3) reversal of the binary opposition hierarchy of village and city.Keyword: si kabayan, binary opposition, filmABSTRAKSosok Si Kabayan selalu diidentikan dengan karakter pandir, pemalas namun cerdik yang sering kali bisa mengalahkan lawan-lawan dalam kehidupannya. Namun kemunculannya dalam film genre baru yakni film sketsa pada media baru youtube, sosok Si Kabayan telah mengalami pergeseran karakter dalam bentuk pembalikan oposisi biner. Sosok Si Kabayan yang udik telah didekonstruksi menjadi Kabayan yang tinggal di kota. Begitu juga dengan kepandirannya telah bergeser pada jiwa yang mimiliki nilai religius sebagai sisi lain dari tokoh Si Kabayan dalam cerita asalnya. Melalui analisis dekonstruksi Derrida nampak simbol-simbol yang dihadirkan melalui narasi visual dari film yang berjudul Si Kabayan Ditinggal Kawin pada channel youtube Kampung Utan TV. Kajian dilakukan melalui naratif cerita dan visual pada level reality representasional dan ideology. Perubahan-perubahan yang terjadi dalam sejumlah unsur naratif visual terlihat sebagai bentuk penyusunan ulang dari narasi kehidupan Si Kabayan dalam cerita-cerita lisan. Berdasarkan hasil pembacaan terhadap narasi dalam film Kabayan ditinggal kawin, terdapat pembalikan hierarki oposisi biner yakni; (1) pembalikan hierarki oposisi biner pintar bodoh, (2) pembalikan hierarki oposisi biner laki-laki perempuan, (3) pembalikan hierarki oposisi biner kampung kota.Kata kunci: si kabayan, oposisi biner, film

Abstract

ABSTRACTContemporary dance is one part of the dance arts in West Java, especially in Bandung city. The contemporary dance in this work raises the issue of communication behavior which is the identity of the Sundanese, namely Someah. The creation of this Someah-themed contemporary dance is a form of collaborative creation of innovative products from the collaboration of culture and technology. Introducing dance art through conventional media in the form of books is starting to become less attractive, especially among the younger generations. This work is expected to be an alternative solution. The study uses the theory of Chris Atton’s Alternative Media (2002). Creating this work also applies the 4P method as an innovation phase which includes person, product, process and press. The research conducted in the process of creating the work includes selecting media for scanning objects, taking pictures and forming Augmented Reality main media. The result of the study of the innovation process as a form of cultural engineering is Someah-themed dance which is published in Augmented Reality as an alternative media for introducing dance. Producing Augmented Reality is considered as a medium to bridge between products and cultural values so that they can synergize in the midst of technological developments.Keywords: Dance, Someah, Alternative Media, Augmented RealityABSTRAKTari kontemporer adalah salah satu bagian dari seni tari di Jawa Barat khususnya di kota Bandung. Tari kontemporer pada karya ini mengangkat tentang prilaku komunikasi yang menjadi identitas dari suku Sunda yaitu Someah. Penciptaan tari kontemporer bertema Someah ini adalah wujud kolaborasi penciptaan produk inovasi dari kolaborasi kebudayaan dan teknologi. Pengenalan seni tari melalui media konvensional berupa buku mulai kurang diminati terutama di kalangan generasi muda. Karya ini diharapkan dapat menjadi solusi alternatif. Kajian ini menggunakan teori Alternatif Media dari Chris Atton (2002). Pembuatan karya ini juga menggunakan metode 4P sebagai fase inovasi yang meliputi person, product, process and press. Pembuatan karya ini melalui riset, pemilihan media untuk objek pemindai, pengambilan gambar dan pembentukan media utama Augmented Reality. Hasil kajian karya utama dari proses inovasi sebagai bentuk rekayasa budaya ini adalah Tari bertema Someah yang dimuat dalam bentuk Augmented Reality sebagai salah satu alternatif media pengenalan tari. Pembuatan Augmented Reality ini juga dipilih sebagai media untuk menjembatani produk serta nilai kebudayaan agar dapat bersinergi ditengah perkembangan teknologi.Kata Kunci: Tari, Someah, Alternatif Media, Augmented Reality
