Abstract

In the era of globalization, increasingly fierce industrial competition forces companies to improve product quality and production efficiency. This study is focused on UD. XYZ iron fabrication company, which experienced a bench product defect rate of 13.68%, exceeding the intended tolerance standard of 9%. The purpose of this study is to analyze the quality control processes of bench furniture products at UD. XYZ to reduce the defect rate. For this purpose the writer used the Statistical Quality Control (SQC) and Failure Mode and Effect Analysis (FMEA) methods. Based on the data obtained, there are six types of defects that occur during the production process of furniture bench products with the largest percentage of defects being missing color (19.9%), followed by broken bench pads (19.1%), and broken rubber feet (17.7%). Based on the RPN calculation, the first highest RPN is obtained for the type of missing color defect of 210, which is caused by the lack of worker accuracy. Second, the bench pad broke at 210, which is caused by the worker being too hard when hitting the bench pad. Third, the rubber foot broke by 180 which is caused by the worker hitting the rubber foot too hard. To reduce the defect rate it is recommended for the company management to provide more supervision and training to the workers. Keywords – Failure Mode and Effect Analysis, Furniture, Statistic Quality Control, Quality Control.

Abstract

Analysis of Indonesian car production data in 2022 shows significant trend for increase in production and sales from year to year. The automotive industry in Indonesia is currently an important non-oil and gas sector which has a major contribution to the national economy. Currently, Indonesia has 22 four-wheeled motor vehicle industry companies. The higher the level of car production, the higher the CO2 emissions produced, and the higher the worldwide pressure to the countries to reduce the CO2 emission damage. Therefore car companies must implement Green Supply Chain Management (GSCM). However, the many criteria in GSGM implementation make it difficult for industry players to decide on the appropriate strategic decisions. The aim of this study is to find out the critical success factors in implementing GSCM in the Indonesian automotive industry and their interrelationship. The method used in this study is the Decision Making Trial and Evaluation Laboratory (DEMATEL) based on the Analytic Network Process (ANP). The results of this study show that the top five of 25 critical success factor in global weight are: top management perspective 4.86%, company competitiveness 4.57%, economic interest 4.55%, Using energy-efficient machinery and equipment 4.49% and Carbon footprint identification 4.48%.Keywords - Automotive Industry, Critical Success Factors, DEMATEL Based ANP, Green Supply Chain Management.

Abstract

nappropriate material processing and supplying activities in a coffee agro-industry supply chain potentially lead to excessive waste, resulting in very low efficiency. Efficiency in the coffee agro-industry supply chain has to be considered, since the coffee agro-industry provides relatively high contribution to GDP, approximately 13.7%. Wasteful activities may significantly affect the GDP earned if not being eliminated. This study was aimed to identify waste produced along the coffee agro-industry supply chain and provide recommendations for improving supply chain efficiency, from the harvesting to the ground coffee processing. Actors of the coffee agro-industry supply chain consist of various parties, i.e. farmers, collectors, processors, and consumers. The supply chain is comprised of internal, external, and overall activities in which material and information flows are integrated within business units that traverse simultaneously between direct suppliers and consumers. In order to achieve optimum results, efficiency improvement by eliminating all sources of waste must be carried out at each stage. The method used to obtain this efficiency was Lean manufacturing, initiated with identifying waste using Process Activity Mapping (PAM), followed by identification with Current Value Stream Mapping (VSM). The efficiency value of the current condition was 93,9%. This shows the condition is good and there is no waste in time. There are other waste that needs to be analyzed, namely motion analysis and process. Keywords - Coffee, Efficiency, Supply Chain, Process Activity Mapping, Value Stream Mapping.

Abstract

Bottlenecks in perishable products processing have significantly decrease the number of sweet potato paste production at PT. XYZ, which have lead to the decrease of more than 23.44% in the fulfillment of the number of demand and result in 2023. These problems are also caused by suboptimal production planning, lack of efficiency in the production process, the occurrence of raw material bottlenecks in the production process, suboptimal resource management and the occurrence of many rejections in the finished good. This study aims to overcome bottlenecks that occur in order to increase the amount of sweet potato paste production. The methodology of this study uses the discrete event simulation approach. This study applies a confidence level of 95% in the existing simulation model. Of the 20 scenario models that have been built, the best four models were further evaluated based on the output and cost aspects. The best of the four is scenario model 13 with the addition of 1 shift in the entire production process, namely the sorting process to the outer packing process with the addition of 105 workers.  This scenario produced 1,274,527 kg of products for 10 months and a percentage increase in the amount of output of 72.74%, gross profit value of IDR 4,016,084,955.50 and marginal profit value of IDR 778.82 with additional direct labor costs of IDR 2,199,145,960 for 10 months and investment costs of IDR 0.Keywords – Bottleneck, Discrete Event Simulation, Gross Profit, Marginal Profit, Perishable product.

Abstract

Existing waste management policy in Ponorogo Regency has not been able to achieve the expected target. Understanding the dynamics of the process is necessary to evaluate the current policy for further improvement. Therefore, this study aims to develop a system dynamic model to evaluate the waste management performance in Ponorogo Regency. This study uses Dynamic System Simulation Design to model the waste management through Causal Loop Diagram (CLD) and Stock Flow Diagram (SFD). This research relies on primary data and secondary data, to develop a model that includes 50 variables across three subsystems: Waste Generation, Waste Management, and Waste Management Costs. The simulation results show four waste management scenarios: Business as Usual (BaU), Education Improvement, Facility Improvement, and a Moderate Combined Education-Facility. The Moderate Combined scenario is selected as the best recommendation, which is projected to achieve 94% waste management by 2026, with high investment level but positive long-term impacts. In addition, simultaneous improvements in facilities and public education are necessary to effectively address the waste management issues in Ponorogo, with a focus on enhancing infrastructure and increasing public participation. Keywords - Causal Loop Diagram, Simulation, Stock Flow Diagram, Waste Management.

Abstract

In 2021, Indonesia ranked 5th globally for the highest number of diabetes cases, primarily due to excessive consumption of high-glycemic index foods. The glycemic index is influenced by fiber, minerals, bioactive compounds, and starch modification. This study aims to determine the optimal formulation of Heat Moisture Treatment (HMT) modified hanjeli flour, dragon fruit peel flour, and cashew nut flour to obtain composite flour with the lowest predicted glycemic index. The physical, functional, and chemical properties of the flour were also analyzed. A Completely Randomized Design (CRD) with one factor and five treatments was used. Composite flour was prepared by mixing dried ingredients using a food dehydrator. Results showed that sample F5 (45% dragon fruit peel flour) had the highest Water Holding Capacity (WHC) and Oil Holding Capacity (OHC). Fiber content, ash content, total phenolics, and resistant starch increased with the higher ratio of dragon fruit peel flour, whereas rapid digestible starch (RDS) and slow digestible starch (SDS) decreased as the proportion of modified hanjeli flour decreased. Sample F4 (50% modified hanjeli flour, 35% dragon fruit peel flour, and 15% cashew nut flour) had the lowest predicted glycemic index (40.53), making it a promising ingredient for low-glycemic index foods. Keywords – Bioactive Compounds, Diabetes, Fiber Content, Heat Moisture Treatment, Modified Starch.

Abstract

The blood vessel area that has the greatest chance of atherosclerotic plaque deposition is the bifurcation zone (branching) in the carotid artery. The non-Newtonian fluid of blood has the characteristics of a shear-thinning fluid. Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) simulation is used in this study to analyse hemodynamic in carotid artery flow with variations of vessel geometry. The branching geometry of the arteries is represented by a T-junction model which is the ideal simplified blood vessel geometry model to exhibit the most common behaviour in arterial bifurcations. The geometry of the T branch is varied into 4 different combinations of diameter size. Thus, the 2k factorial experimental design method is also used to investigate the effect of the inflow and outflow domain sizes on the response variables in the form of velocity values, Wall Shear Stress (WSS), and Oscillatory Shear Index (OSI). The results of this simulation can greatly help medical scientists to more easily predict areas that have the potential to form atherosclerotic plaques in the circulatory system. Keywords - Atherosclerotic Plaque, Blood Vessel, Computational Fluid Dynamics Non-Newtonian Fluid, 2k Factorial Method.
