Abstract

Critical thinking skills and learning outcomes are two important aspects that are interrelated in achieving optimal learning objectives. This study aims to describe the effectiveness of the application of the Problem Based Learning (PBL) learning model combined with the drill method in improving students' critical thinking skills and learning outcomes in the material of trading company financial reports. This study uses a classroom action research (CAR) approach which is implemented in two cycles. Each cycle consists of two meetings that include the stages of planning, action implementation, observation, and reflection. The subjects in this study were 29 students of class XI Accounting 3 SMKN 1 Nainggolan. Data collection techniques were carried out through observation, learning outcome tests, and documentation. The results showed that students' critical thinking skills increased from an average of 58.76% in cycle I to 72.70% in cycle II. Meanwhile, the level of completion of learning outcomes classically increased from 79.31% in cycle I to 100% in cycle II. Thus, it can be concluded that the application of the Problem Based Learning model with the drill method is effective in improving students' critical thinking skills and learning outcomes.

Abstract

This study aims to determine: (1) The effect of self-efficacy on academic resilience in FKIP UNS students (2) The effect of social support on academic resilience in FKIP UNS students (3) The effect of self-efficacy and social support on academic resilience in FKIP UNS students. The research approach used is quantitative descriptive. A sample of 377 students was selected from a population of 6.738 FKIP UNS students through simple random sampling technique. Data were collected using a questionnaire, and analyzed using descriptive statistical analysis and hypothesis testing in the form of t-test and f-test. The results prove that self-efficacy and social support have a positive and significant effect on academic resilience in FKIP UNS students partially and simultaneously. Abstract

The implementation of learning in higher education is not limited to theoretical activities but also includes practical ones. The Economics Education study program has a business laboratory that serves as a platform for students to demonstrate their performance in managing business units. This study was conducted to examine the influence of the work environment, work discipline, and competitive pressure on the performance of the business laboratory, both partially and simultaneously. A quantitative research approach was chosen for this study. The research population consisted of active students in the Economics Education study program who were assigned as business laboratory practitioners. Proportional sampling was used to determine 142 students as respondents. The research variables were measured using a questionnaire instrument, which was then tested for validity and reliability. Data were analyzed using t-tests and F-tests. Regression analysis with its prerequisite tests was also carried out to predict the influence of the three independent variables on business laboratory performance. The findings reported that the work environment influences business laboratory performance, work discipline influences business laboratory performance, while competitive pressure does not influence business laboratory performance. Furthermore, the work environment, work discipline, and competitive pressure simultaneously influence business laboratory performance.

Abstract

Learning motivation plays a crucial role in fostering students’ active engagement throughout the instructional process. Economics instruction on the topic of wages in Grade XI at SMAN 2 Mranggen demonstrates low levels of student engagement when learning is conducted solely through theoretical, teacher-centered approaches. Students require an instructional model that is capable of simultaneously enhancing learning motivation and promoting active participation. This study aims to analyze the relationship between learning motivation and students’ learning engagement in Project-Based Learning (PjBL). A quantitative approach was employed, utilizing descriptive analysis and canonical correlation analysis. The findings indicate a strong and significant relationship between learning motivation and student engagement in project-based economics instruction, with a canonical coefficient of 0.839 in the first function. Multivariate analysis revealed significant results; however, partial correlations between individual variables did not demonstrate strong statistical significance. The learning motivation indicators showing the strongest relationships were perseverance in completing tasks and the ability to seek and solve problems. The most prominent indicators of learning engagement were listening activities and emotional activities. Descriptive analysis using word count of students’ responses to open-ended questionnaires concluded that student engagement was reflected in several key terms, namely: experiencing feelings of enjoyment, perceiving the learning as exciting, gaining broader insights, and improvement in public speaking skills. This study contributes to the enrichment of research on the relationship between learning motivation and learning engagement and serves as a foundation for teachers in designing innovative, contextual, and engagement-oriented economics instruction.

Abstract

This study aims to examine the effectiveness of differentiated learning on students' learning outcomes and identify the challenges faced in its implementation. The method used is quantitative experiment with pretest-posttest control group design. The research sample consisted of two classes at the junior secondary education level that were randomly selected. The experimental class was treated using differentiated learning with differentiated learning with problem based learning model, while the control class used conventional learning model. The research instruments were learning outcome tests and implementation challenge questionnaires filled out by teachers. Data analysis using t-test showed that there was a significant difference between student learning outcomes in the experimental and control classes (p < 0.05), indicating that differentiated learning is effective in improving student learning outcomes. However, questionnaire data shows that teachers face a number of challenges, such as time constraints, lack of training, and difficulties in grouping students based on learning needs. The findings provide important implications for education policy and practice in supporting the optimal implementation of differentiated learning.

Abstract

This study is motivated by the importance of fostering a frugal lifestyle among students, given that consumptive behaviour remains prevalent due to low financial literacy, differences in family economic conditions, and limited personal financial management skills. The study aims to analyse the influence of financial literacy and parental income on frugal living, with financial management behaviour serving as a mediating variable. Employing a descriptive-verificative quantitative approach with an ex post facto design, the research population comprised 84 eleventh-grade Accounting students at SMK Negeri 1 Bukit Kemuning, selected via saturated sampling. Data were collected using questionnaires and analysed using path analysis in SPSS. The results indicate that financial literacy and parental income have significant effects on financial management behaviour, and that parental income also significantly influences lifestyle. However, financial management behaviour does not have a substantial impact on lifestyle. These findings highlight that a frugal lifestyle can be shaped through strong financial literacy and adequate family economic support.
