Abstract

Computer networks have evolved with the presence of cloud computing technology to accommodate the problem of inadequate computer devices and application services that are not integrated. USM (Universitas Semarang) which located in Indonesia is an educational institution that has implemented cloud computing technology using ROCCA (Roadmap for Cloud Computing Adoption) to accommodate the needs of internal application systems at this institution. The problem arises because the system administrator of the computer network is difficult to monitor the condition of the virtual server running because physically, the virtual server cannot be seen and touched. If there is a problem in one service, then the repair process takes a long time because there is not enough notification system to provide fast and detailed information about the condition of the virtual server running so that it will interfere with the quality of service from internal application system. The solution of these problems enhances the NMS (Network Monitoring System) functionality with notification system technology. Use PPDIOO method, this research will combine Pandora FMS and Telegram based on Android platform to implement a fast notification system in monitoring conditions virtual server resources which directly sent the message to the system administrator’s smartphone. The expectation of this research is the quality of internal application service at USM (Universitas Semarang) can be properly maintained.

Abstract

Computer technology has been used to support the learning process at the university. Learning process, generally involved students and teachers in order to learn about materials on subject courses and also evaluate student competencies regularly. Teachers can evaluate student competencies or knowledge by e-assessment. E-assessment is one of the domains of e-learning which involves the use computer in assessment, includes: setting, delivery, marking and reporting of assessments. The Major benefit of the e - assessment system is its flexibility in term of global access and devices used to access. When developing an e-assessment system, we have two focuses on multi-dimensional approach, such as user friendly and student centric nature. Because of its complexity, software architecture need to define so software developer will develop software properly. By designing software architecture, view of the system that includes the system components, the behavior of those components, and the ways the components interact could clearly define. Architecture Description Language (ADL) has been used to describe software, because it provides a concrete syntax and formal framework for characterizing architectures. As the result, the design of e-assessment system architecture can meet the needs of attribute quality. The use of notation to explain ADL is able to provide a complete description than simply explaining ADL is using text. Furthermore, the e-assessment system architecture design is expected to be used as a reference for software development in establishing an e-assessment system.

Abstract

LTE (Long Term Evolution) is a Broadband Wireless Access (BWA) technology that allows high speed and a wide range of access. LTE is designed to meet the needs for Quality of Service (QoS), i.e. the ability to download up to 300 Mbps and upload up to 75 Mbps. This study investigated the impacts of user mobility on the LTE network for video streaming services. The approach employed in this study included multi-user with Distributed AntennaSystem (DAS) and various variations of user mobility speed. Observations were made on the condition of the user moving from one cell to another so that the handover occurred. The throughput value will increase by 33% and 47% when the user’s distances are respectively 1250 m and 2000 m from eNode B. In addition, the delay value will reduce by 66.32% an 67.58% when the user’s distances are respectively 1250 m and 2000 m from eNode B. Moreover, the PDR value will increase by 48.74% and 55.45% when the user’s distances are respectively 1250 m and 2000 m from eNode B. The use of a distributed antenna system (DAS) model on LTE network has resulted in improved quality of performance when the user streams a video.

Abstract

Filter is one of key module in a radio telescope system. This article present the development of VHF LC-passive filters meant to support a multiband antenna in a transient radio telescope system by reducing the bandwidth of each operating frequencies. The filters were developed by employing low-cost inductor and capacitor with low self-resonant frequency (SRF) an hence the characteristic are highly affected by the parasitic inductance of the capacitors an parasitic capacitance of the inductors. Therefore, general equation to develop an LC filters was no longer applicable in developing these filters. Nevertheless, three filters were successfully developed, operated at 38 MHz, 74 MHz and 152 MHz with relatively good quality factors up to of about 13.

Abstract

Historically, the study of Qur'an in Indonesia evolved along with the spread of Islam. Learning methods of reading the Qur'an have been found ranging from al-Baghdadi, al-Barqi, Qiraati, Iqro', Human, Tartila, and others, which can make it easier to learn to read the Qur'an. Currently, the development of speech recognition technology can be used for the detection of Iqro vol 3 reading pronunciations. Speech recognition consists of two general stages of feature extraction and speech matching. The feature extraction step is used to derive speech-feature and speech-matching stages to compare compatibility between test sound and train voice. The speech recognition method used to recognize Iqro readings is extracting speech signal features using Mel Frequency Cepstral Coefficient (MFCC) and classifying them using Vector Quantization (VQ) to get the appropriate speech results. The result of testing for speech recognition system of Iqro reading has been tested for 30 peoples as a sample of data and there are 6 utterances indicating the information failed, so the system has a success rate of 80%.

Abstract

Annular ring antenna concept has been utilized in many applications. This paper presents the adoption of annular ring concept on a dual-band microstrip antenna. The antenna is designed to operate at 1.9 GHz and 2.1 GHz operating frequencies. The objective of this research is to observe the method potential of combining two patches operate at different frequencies as a single dual-band antenna. While the purpose of the annular concept is to enhance the bandwidth of an antenna, analysis from this work shows that for a dual-band antenna with operating frequencies close one to the other, the obtained bandwidths are relatively narrow, down to of about 5%. Nevertheless, the antenna is capable to operate at both designated frequencies with good return losses down to -24.40dB.

Abstract

The low level of student readiness in implementing e-learning can achieve not optimal benefits or even generate losses. In fact, its failures are able to impact on swelling of the institutional funds. Therefore, it is so important to measure the level of student readiness for avoiding the impact of e-learning implementation failures. In this study, we employed an ensemble model for measuring e-learning readiness level by using the model of Akaslan & Law and Aydin & Tasci. The data were obtained from questionnaires based on the factor of technology, people, content, institutions, acceptance for e-learning, and training for e-learning. With a questionnaire consisting of questions and five Likert scales, the survey was conducted in several departments who have implemented e-learning. We assessed the results by Akaslan & Law to measure the level of student readiness and Aydin & Law for determining its readiness By assessing the level of difficulty of e-learning implementation, we show a different way of assessment that the model of Akaslan & Law can also be used for the same variables related to Aydin & Tasci model in the measurement. We work in hand together between the model of Akaslan & Law and Aydin & Tasci for the sake of knowing the level of e-learning implementation readiness in such a different way. We observed e-learning of Institut Teknologi Sepuluh Nopember (ITS) or so-called ShareITS and found that ITS students are ready to implement e-learning.
