Abstract

Traffic congestion leads to significant losses in the form of extended travel times, fuel waste, and environmental degradation. This congestion primarily results from traffic volumes exceeding both highway and intersection capacities. To address these issues and ensure smooth traffic flow, it is crucial to evaluate intersection performance. This study focuses on the Duren Intersection in South Tangerang City, where Merpati Raya Street, Menjangan Raya Street, Cenderawasih Street, and KH. Dewantoro Street converge. The current situation at the Duren Intersection continues to cause congestion, as evidenced by traffic performance data. On weekdays during peak hours, the average vehicle queue length reaches 192.03 meters, with an average traffic delay of 42.153 seconds per vehicle, resulting in a Level of Service (LOS) E. On holidays, the peak hour average queue length is 128.71 meters, with an average delay of 25.126 seconds per vehicle, corresponding to a LOS D. Given these conditions, this study, titled "Arrangement of Unsignalized Intersections: A Case Study of Duren Intersection, Ciputat District," aims to analyze and propose improvements for the intersection's performance. The research will evaluate current traffic patterns, identify bottlenecks, and suggest potential solutions to enhance traffic flow and reduce congestion at this critical junction in South Tangerang City.

Abstract

This study discusses how much influence the hot sun has on the strength of concrete. Concrete is widely used in construction, because it is cheap and easy to implement. Still, it also requires extensive knowledge regarding the nature of the basic concrete material, how to make it, and when to lay it so that it can produce maximum quality and quality when the concrete is laidThe  research aims to find out how much influence the hot sun during casting has on the compressive strength of concrete. In this research, test specimens were made for the concrete mixture with a design compressive strength of f'c = 20 MPa, using a cylinder with a diameter of 15 cm and a height of 30 cm, and strength testing. press approach using hammer test. Casting was carried out in the morning, afternoon, and evening with different types of sunlight on one road section. The results of this research show that the hot sun during casting affects the compressive strength of the concrete produced. The heat of the sun is too hot, causing the concrete that is laid to crack easily and its compressive strength is low even though the concrete has been covered with geoteck and watered regularly.

Abstract

Makassar faces flooding challenges due to rapid urban development that lack of effective planning. Makassar faces heightened flood risks due to inadequate drainage infrastructure, particularly in areas with poor drainage systems and elevations between 0 and 4 meters above sea level. The city experiences substantial rainfall annually, as happened on February 13, 2023, which causes flooding at several points and is made worse by high tides. The study aims to investigate the existing conditions of the drainage channel in the Jongaya drainage system as well as evaluate the alternative condition proposed by the Public Works Agency of Makassar, assess planned flood discharge, determine channel dan Jeneberang Lama long storage capacity, and identify necessary drainage system support facilities.  Based on the simulation analysis results using Storm Water Management Model (SWMM) 5.2, flooding still occurs in the existing condition with a volume of 169,521 m³, as well as in the alternative condition with a volume of 148,477 m³. An evaluation was conducted for both conditions involving redesigning cross-sections, adjusting elevations, and planning 4 pumps and 2 sluice gates at the storage area outlet, which subsequently eliminated flooding in both conditions. The flood design observed in both conditions are 103.43 m³/s and 77.48 m³/s respectively.

Abstract

The H. Rais intersection in South Tangerang City is an intersection with three arms without traffic signals. Simpang H. Rais is a meeting of three roads, namely Jl. H. Jamat Gg. Rais, Jl. Puspitek Segment 1, and Jl. Puspitek Segment 2. This intersection often experiences long queues due to inadequate intersection capacity so that it is unable to accommodate the volume of vehicles during morning and evening rush hours. The research method used was a direct survey method at the research location to collect traffic data at Simpang H. Rais and the surrounding roads. From the research results, the average length of the queue before handling during peak hours on weekdays is 168.52 m and delays are 35,471 with a level of service (LOS) D, while the average length of the queue before handling during peak hours on holidays is 119 .82 m and a delay of 33.52 with a level of service (LOS) D. In the next 5 years, the performance of Simpang H. Rais before handling will become worse with the result that the average queue length during weekday peak hours is 219.64 m and a delay of 49,137 with an intersection service level (LOS) E, while the average queue length during holiday peak hours is 218.28 m and a delay of 43,635 with an intersection service level (LOS) E. Handling is being carried out at Simpang H. Rais in short-term scenario 1 is by fulfilling road equipment facilities and assigning traffic officers, and in short-term scenario 2 by widening the bend radius to a minimum of 7.8 m and widening the H. Jamat Gg road section. Rais becomes 6 m, while the treatment carried out at Simpang H. Rais in the long term is to change the Puspitek road type to 4/2-T with a width per direction of 6 m.

Abstract

The river flows naturally from its source (upstream) to its mouth (downstream). Due to its velocity, riverbank erosion often occurs, especially in curved sections. In meandering rivers, unstable soil can lead to landslides on the outer banks. One affected area is Padang Mancang Village, Kaway XVI Subdistrict, West Aceh Regency. This study aims to design a suitable groin structure to mitigate erosion. The design process considers a 50-year return period flood (Q50), soil properties, and river cross-section data. The proposed groin structure has a length of 30 meters, a foundation width of 10 meters, a top width of 3 meters, and a height of 12 meters. The flood discharge is 2885.307 m³/s. Stability analysis confirms the structure is safe, with safety factors of 3.06 for overturning and 1.89 for sliding, both exceeding the minimum 1.5. The foundation is stable, with a maximum stress of 2.076 kg/cm², below the allowable 7.71675 kg/cm². These results indicate the groin structure effectively prevents riverbank erosion while ensuring structural stability.

Abstract

Building construction is intensively carried out in Indonesia. That is because Indonesia is a developing country that needs quite a lot of infrastructure, be it buildings, offices, roads, bridges, or ports, especially at the Surabaya State Shipbuilding Polytechnic which is building an Integrated Lecture Building. The development process certainly does not escape the need for heavy equipment, such as excavators. Heavy equipment is a crucial requirement in building construction projects, this is because heavy equipment is a means of supporting work in the project, for example excavation work. Because excavators are important tools in building construction projects, it is necessary to analyze the productivity of heavy equipment. This study aims to analyze the productivity of excavators so that they can improve operational efficiency, save costs, and determine the duration of work.

Abstract

Understanding the ductility behavior of reinforced concrete columns is critical for ensuring structural safety in seismic regions, yet there remains limited research on the specific effects of shear reinforcement diameter under varying axial loads. This research investigates the ductility behavior of reinforced concrete columns with a 10 mm shear reinforcement diameter under varying axial loads of 1000 kN, 2500 kN, and 5000 kN. The study aims to understand the effect of shear reinforcement on the ductility of columns and how varying axial loads influence their performance. Numerical modeling was performed using Xtract software, with columns designed to have dimensions of 600 mm x 600 mm (unconfined) and 450 mm x 450 mm (confined). The study focuses on key parameters such as curvature at initial load, curvature at first yield, ultimate curvature, and moment-curvature relationships. The results show that as the axial load increases, the curvature ductility decreases, with the column under 1000 kN demonstrating the highest ductility and the column under 5000 kN showing the lowest. The findings highlight the significant role of shear reinforcement in enhancing the ductility of columns, suggesting that optimal reinforcement design is crucial for ensuring structural resilience under variable loading conditions.
