Abstract

Yusuf Bilyarta Mangunwijaya (often referred to as Romo Mangun; YBM) stands out as one of Indonesia’s architectural luminaries, and his architectural vision is deeply rooted in his religious background as a Catholic priest. This article delves into the intrinsic religious values embedded within one of Romo Mangun’s architectural masterpieces, the Church of Maria Assumpta or Gereja Maria Assumpta (GMA) in Klaten. This structure emanates a profound and sanctified ambiance by merging traditional Javanese architectural elements with a contemporary sensibility. By adopting a qualitative approach, explicitly employing a constructivist paradigm of symbolic interactionism and phenomenology theoretical schools, this research raises a question on how Mangunwijaya engraved his understanding and discernment of religiosity in his architectural work of GMA. By using Mangunwijaya’s GMA as a material object and his concept of religiosity as a formal object, it is found that he engraved his understanding and discernment of religiosity through his architectural work of GMA. To be religious is (1) to be a part of our own culture, which is shown by the space order; (2) to be focused on the Most High, shown by the orientation, ornaments, and liturgical light and colors; and (3) living in harmony, well-engraved in the proportion.

Abstract

This research focuses on how the cross culture of religion becomes social capital in maintaining religious harmonization in Rama Agung Village. In order to identify and examine in depth the social harmonisation created through the cross culture of religion in Rama Agung Village, the research method used is descriptive qualitative. Data collection techniques were non-participant observation, semi-structured interviews, and document studies. The informants are people who know and understand the research topic and come from different religious and ethnic backgrounds. The data analysis technique used the Miles and Huberman approach. The results showed that the cross culture of religion in religious communities in Rama Agung Village includes physical and non-physical aspects. Non-physical aspects include the emergence of values and norms in religious communities in Rama Agung Village related to social harmonisation through daily interfaith actions and behaviours such as visiting each other when adherents of other religions celebrate religious holidays, not disturbing each other in worship and others. The physical aspect is illustrated by the existence of FPUB (Forum of Religious Representatives) and acculturation in building ornaments and public places in Rama Agung Village.

Abstract

Religious conflicts still occur in the social life of pluralistic Indonesian society, one of the causes is the absence of peace values that are manifested in the religious behavior of citizens. Researchers have the assumption that the values of peace understood by students as young citizens can affect the religious behavior displayed. Therefore, this study aims to find how much influence the perception of peace values has on the religious behavior of young citizens at State Religious Universities in Central Kalimantan. This research uses a quantitative approach with a correlational research type. The research was conducted at 3 (three) State Religious Universities in Central Kalimantan Province with 183 respondents as samples, namely students as young citizens with an age range of 18-24 years. This study uses data collection techniques in the form of a questionnaire using a Likert scale. Validity and reliability test used the help of the SPSS application with the normality test stage using the Kolmogorov Smirnov test, the linearity test with a significance value criterion of 0.05 and the hypothesis testing stage using the simple linear regression equation formula. Results of the data analysis of this study indicate that peace values affect the religious behavior of young citizens in State Religious Universities in Central Kalimantan Province by 65%. The existence of a strong correlation between peace values and religious behavior provides an important recommendation for government policy as well as supporting UN 2030 Agenda. Improving peace building in this case can be taught in the implementation of peace education with peace values consisting of making peace with God, self, others, the environment and other incidental themes.

Using a quantitative approach, as many as 38 teachers and students in Curup City, were surveyed to analyze the influence of variables such as education level, investment experience, information sources, financial knowledge, family support, investment motivation, and religious understanding on sharia capital market literacy. The results of the study show that family support, ease of access to information, and religious understanding have a significant influence on sharia capital market literacy. The factors of education and investment experience did not show significant influence, suggesting that practical experience and knowledge were more important than formal theory. The implications of Islamic financial education policies and recommendations to improve financial literacy among students and teachers are discussed further.

Abstract

The Qurʼān affirms the principle of social justice in the form of the phrase that the control of camels and horses from the spoils of war is under the control of Allah and the Messenger, his relatives, orphans, the poor and travellers. The mention of orphans and travellers, who are generally known to be propertyless people, is understood as Allah's way of making property or assets in modern terms circulate only among the rich. This article explains the hermeneutics of the word Māl and its relevance to social justice. This library research is a descriptive-analysis of the interpretation of Māl. The primary data are the Qurʼān and Hassan Hanafi's book. Secondary data are social justice literature and research on Hassan Hanafi's hermeneutics. Hassan Hanafi interprets the term Māl in terms that wealth is actually a trust, an alliance, a way of planting goodness (investment), and prohibits people from misusing it. The word māl has a strong relevance to the values of social justice. In the ideology of Pancasila, the goal of social justice is a social/state order that is balanced, organised, dignified and helps the weak. And it prohibits things that are detrimental to the common good, practices that benefit the few and harm the many.
