Abstract

Student Activity Units (UKM) are student organizations in universities that accommodate various student interests and talents outside of academic activities. UKM serves as a forum for students to develop themselves, channel hobbies, and improve various skills through extracurricular activities. The purpose of this research is to design and build an information system that can simplify the process of accepting cadres in an organization, especially student organizations. This system aims to increase efficiency, transparency, and accuracy in managing applicant data, as well as simplify the selection and recruitment process for UKM members. The presence of this application will be very helpful in serving the registration of every student who is interested in becoming a prospective member without having to visit each UKM and can reduce the cost of procuring paper and stationery as well as time and energy. This UKM member acceptance application will be built with web-based software and implemented online, where students can view information and the registration agenda and the selection schedule for each organization. In addition, each committee unit can monitor the progress of each prospective participant who registers and can also view the detailed profile of each prospective participant. This application was developed using the PHP programming language supported by the Bootstrap framework, which provides an excellent and flexible experience when accessed on today's smartphones. The system flow design uses the Unified Modeling Language (UML) and Design Thinking Model. This research uses a waterfall method approach in system development, and the results are expected to help every UKM administrator serve prospective participants more easily, effectively, and efficiently.

Abstract

In line with the advancement of information technology, Bengkel Majulapan has started to adopt web-based applications to enhance operational efficiency and service quality. Previously, the service booking process, spare part management, and technician scheduling were carried out manually, often resulting in errors and a lack of transparency. To overcome these problems, this study designs a web-based transaction system using the Extreme Programming (XP) method. XP was chosen for its fast development cycle and flexibility to adapt to changes. The system is built using web technologies such as HTML, CSS, and JavaScript for the frontend, with Firebase used for authentication, real-time database, and notification features. The application allows users to book services, manage spare parts, and receive notifications, which can be accessed anytime and anywhere. This system aims to improve the transparency, accuracy, and efficiency of transaction processes within the workshop. The development stages include planning, designing user stories, system development, testing, and deployment. The results showed that the implementation of the system increased booking accuracy, reduced manual errors, and improved customer satisfaction based on feedback and trial use. With this system in place, it is expected that Majulapan Workshop's operational performance becomes more efficient and effective.

Abstract

The Facilities and Infrastructure Unit at Banten Jaya University (UNBAJA) plays a crucial role in supporting the institution’s operational and academic excellence. As the university grows, the need for efficient, accurate, and technology-driven systems becomes increasingly important, particularly in managing resources such as rooms, goods, and vehicles. Currently, the loan system for these assets is still conducted manually, relying on inventory logbooks and Microsoft Office tools. This conventional method often results in data redundancy, errors in data entry, and frequent conflicts in scheduling due to lack of real-time updates and validation mechanisms. To address these challenges, this research focuses on developing a web-based loan system designed to streamline and digitize the borrowing process for students, lecturers, and administrative staff. The system is built using the Agile development methodology, ensuring iterative feedback and continuous improvement. It utilizes PHP as the core programming language, with Laravel serving as the framework and MySQL as the database engine. The application design is modeled using Unified Modeling Language (UML) to provide clear and structured system architecture. Functionality and reliability are tested through the Black Box testing method, ensuring all system functions perform as expected. The implementation of this system significantly improves the efficiency of the loan process, enhances data accuracy, and facilitates better inventory and usage reporting. Additionally, the system enforces a First In, First Out (FIFO)mechanism, promoting fairness and orderliness in resource distribution. This digital transformation marks a strategic step in aligning UNBAJA’s operations with modern information technology practices.

Abstract

Small and Medium Industries (SMIs) are community-driven business sectors that have demonstrated significant contributions to economic development. They play a crucial role in providing alternative and productive economic activities. This study focuses on the Department of Industry and Trade of Cilegon City, which faces challenges in collecting data on SMIs across districts, compiling records of supervised enterprises, and monitoring their progress. The objective of this research is to design and develop a Management and Data Collection Application for SMIs in Cilegon City to enhance the efficiency of SMI development activities. The application was developed using the Rapid Application Development (RAD) methodology, aligned with the System Development Life Cycle (SDLC). The design process employed an Entity Relationship Diagram (ERD) and Unified Modeling Language (UML), specifically a Use Case Diagram. The system is web-based and implemented using the Code Igniter framework, PHP programming language, and a MySQL database.

Abstract

An integrated system is essential to improve operational efficiency in various sectors, including Bius Coffee. Issues such as long queues at the cashier and order errors arise due to the lack of connectivity among customers, cashiers, cooks, and waiters. To address these problems, a web-based integrated system was designed using the Scrum method, an Agile approach that emphasizes flexibility, adaptability, and team collaboration. The Scrum stages applied include the development of user stories, product backlog, and sprint backlog. A needs analysis was conducted on Bius Coffee’s operational processes, followed by system design using Unified Modeling Language (UML), which covers use case, activity diagram, class diagram, and prototype interface. The application of Scrum facilitates task distribution based on priority and more accurate time estimation. The design results show that the system enables customers to place orders directly, cashiers to validate orders quickly, and cooks to access orders in a more organized manner. Therefore, this system has the potential to improve both work efficiency and service quality at Bius Coffee.

Abstract

The management of billing collection data, often sourced from fragmented systems, manual processes, and a lack of real-time visibility, poses a significant risk of revenue leakage and hinders Revenue Assurance effectiveness. This study aims to design and build a Business Intelligence (BI) solution to address these issues. Adopting the Design Science Research Methodology (DSRM), the research implements an end-to-end Extract, Transform, Load (ETL) pipeline to integrate data from various file formats (TXT, CSV). The implemented technologies include Google Drive as a data repository, Microsoft Excel (Power Query) as the ETL engine, and Looker Studio for visualization. The outcome is a functional system comprising an automated ETL workflow and two interactive dashboards tailored for different audiences: an Executive Dashboard for strategic monitoring of Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) and long-term trends, and an Operational Dashboard that provides detailed, actionable data for daily collection activities. System evaluation via black-box testing confirmed that all functionalities performed as designed. The developed artifact successfully enhances data visibility, supports evidence-based decision-making, and directly contributes to Revenue Assurance by providing a tool for proactive and effective monitoring and mitigation of uncollectible receivables.

Abstract

Student retention is a critical indicator in evaluating the quality of higher education institutions. High dropout rates pose significant challenges, including at Al-Khairiyah University in Cilegon, Banten. This study develops a predictive model for student retention using two machine learning approaches: Recurrent Neural Network (RNN) and Support Vector Machine (SVM), while identifying the most influential factors. The dataset comprises 3371 records from 2021-2024, including academic variables (GPA, semester grades 1-8, attendance) and non-academic variables (organizational activity, competition achievements, parental income, admission pathway, and study system). Data was split into 80% training and 20% testing sets. Results show that the RNN model demonstrates superior performance with 93.5% accuracy, 99.7% precision, 89.3% recall, 94.2% F1-score, and 0.967 AUC, while SVM achieved 85.5% accuracy, 89.8% precision, 85.3% recall, 87.5% F1-score, and 0.912 AUC. Feature importance analysis reveals that Total GPA and first-semester grades (IPS.1) are the dominant factors influencing student retention, while non-academic factors have relatively small contributions. This research provides practical contributions through an Early Warning System framework that can be implemented by universities to detect at-risk students early, enabling proactive academic interventions.

Abstract

Improvements in information technology have given rise to the phenomenon of using e-learning systems in education. However, the success of e-learning implementation is highly dependent on user acceptance. This research identifies factors that influence tertiary students' interest in using e-learning in Indonesia, by focusing on self-efficacy and subjective norms. By involving 116 respondents and analyzing data using PLS-SEM, this research shows that around 41.5% of the variability in interest in using e-learning can be explained by self-efficacy and subjective norms. The findings show that subjective norms have a greater influence than self-efficacy on interest in using e-learning. These results reinforce the importance of subjective norms as a major factor in e-learning acceptance. This research also highlights the need for further research to understand additional factors that may influence interest in using e-learning in the future.

Abstract

The advancement of artificial intelligence has driven LLM-based chatbot implementation in education, particularly for New Student Admission (PMB) services. This research analyzes and evaluates an LLM-based PMB chatbot using Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG) at Politeknik Krakatau. The system integrates three LLM models (GPT-4 Turbo, Mistral Devstral, Xiaomi Mimo-v2) with FAISS and LangChain. Comprehensive evaluation uses eight standard metrics: four for retrieval (Recall@3, Precision@3, MRR, NDCG@3) and four for generation (BERTScore, ROUGE-1, ROUGE-L, METEOR), with 100 questions across six categories. Results show the retrieval component achieves excellent performance with Recall@3 of 1.000 (perfect), MRR of 0.756, and NDCG@3 of 0.864, indicating effective document finding and ranking. For generation, Mistral Devstral demonstrates best performance with BERTScore of 0.755, ROUGE-1 of 0.604, and METEOR of 0.427, followed by GPT-4 Turbo (BERTScore 0.723) and Xiaomi Mimo-v2 (BERTScore 0.718). These comprehensive results enable evidence-based model selection, producing a chatbot delivering accurate, contextually relevant, and consistent responses to prospective students. This directly addresses slow and inefficient admission services by reducing administrative workload through automated, high-quality information provision while improving response speed and reliability. Compared to previous studies, this research provides the most comprehensive evaluation of RAG-based PMB chatbots in Indonesia, with retrieval performance surpassing prior studies and offering actionable insights bridging technical metrics and real-world service improvement in higher education institutions.

Abstract

The recent expansion of administrative regions in Indonesia to 38 provinces and 514 regencies/municipalities increases the demand for accurate and scalable visualization of administrative boundaries. However, many existing Web GIS applications remain limited in scope and are not designed to manage national-scale spatial data efficiently. This study aims to design and implement a lightweight and extensible Web GIS architecture for visualizing Indonesia’s administrative boundaries down to the regency/municipality level. The research employs a software engineering approach consisting of requirements analysis, system design, implementation, and functional testing using the black-box testing method. The system is developed using the Laravel framework for backend management and Leaflet.js for client-side map visualization, with GeoJSON as the primary spatial data format and OpenStreetMap as the basemap.The developed application successfully visualizes administrative boundaries for all 38 provinces and 514 regencies/municipalities with consistent thematic styling, interactive features, and automatic zoom-to-fit. A centralized controller mechanism ensures stable asynchronous loading of spatial layers. These results demonstrate that the proposed architecture is effective for national-scale administrative mapping and can serve as a practical foundation for further Web GIS development.
