The process of the formation of illness representations is described, with special attention to the role of culture in this process. Illnes representations have strong effects on the emotional and coping reactions of the patient. Also via other ways, culture has an influence on the interaction of the patient with the providers of care, for example in terms of the risk of non-compliance with medical advice. In this paper the implications of these relations for practice are explored. Abstract

For many years, agencies and corporations have initiated programs and implemented inter- ventions to help impoverished groups but the results of these initiatives have often been quite dis- couraging. Adverse shocks such as severe health incidents or loss of employment, can happen in every household. These incidents can severely impact households, especially the poor. These impov- erished households are likely to need both economic and social restoration. Thus, corporations are in- creasingly asked to provide innovative solutions to human poverty. One solution is through Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR), and another is through Social Entrepreneurship (SE), a strategy that seeks an opportunity to satisfy some unmet needs that the state welfare system will not or cannot meet. By studying both CSR and SE, we will highlight the mechanisms, key similarities and differ- ences of these two forms of strategy and develop a framework that approaches poverty alleviation more systematically and effectively.

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to develop the Poem Instructional Module Based on Reader Response Approach (PIMBRRA). The module was developed based on Dick & Carey’s Instructional System Design. Dick & Carey’s Model was selected because it consists of comprehensive and syste- matic instructional planning processes, comprising of developmental phases of module development, a thorough evaluation and revision process, and testing process. This study consists of two phases, i.e. the development of PIMBRRA phase and the Formative Evaluation phase. The development of PIMBRRA phase adopted steps one through seven of Dick & Carey’s Model. The Formative Evalua- tion phase involved experts in the field of education and Malay language and literature studies, and students. Data was garnered from evaluation forms, and interviews involving three experts, teachers and students. The three categories of respondents had given positive feedback on the module. Based on Reader Res- ponse Approach (PIMBRRA). Abstract

Two experiments were conducted in this study: Experiment 1 investigated whether subjects were misled by leading questions when remembering a mugging event. Thirty police recruits partici- pated as subjects. Subjects‟ memory was tested immediately after they observed a staged mugging event. The results of Experiment 1 showed that subjects were easily suggestible to misleading questions about the mugging event. Experiment 2 used a face recognition test. Sixty police recruits participated in Experiment 2. The results showed that there was no significant effect of the instruc- tion factor (warning/without warning) or the time after which subjects were tested (immediately/a week after). However, there was a significant interaction between the two factors. Subjects were more affected by the warning instructions only when they were tested a week after watching the staged event. Findings are discussed in relation to memory theories and the validity of eyewitness testimony. Dua eksperimen dilakukan dalam studi ini. Eksperimen 1 meneliti apakah para subjek terkecoh pertanyaan penuntun ketika mengingat kejadian perampokan. Tiga puluh anggota polisi berpartisi- pasi sebagai subjek. Ingatan subjek diuji segera setelah mereka menyaksikan adegan kejadian pe- rampokan.
