Abstract

Parents have been identified as the main caregivers of children with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), as they are actively involved in intervention strategies. There has been paucity of evidence regarding telehealth program aiming to support parents with children with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) in low-and middle-income (LAMI) countries. This scoping review aims to explore and map such evidence to develop and improve such program. A systematic effort was made by reviewing research articles that involved: (1) parents of children with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD; age 0-18 years) as participants; (2) provided stand-alone telehealth programs (without in-person combinations); and (3) conducted in low- and middle-income (LAMI) countries; including original study and excluding review and opinion paper, with no limitation regarding research methodology nor publication date. Four academic databases were searched, namely: (1) Medline (EBSCOhost); (2) ProQuest; (3) Scopus; and (4) Science Direct; complemented with Google Scholar Search. Keywords were derived from three main keywords: (1) ‘telehealth’; (2) ‘parent’; and (3) ‘autism spectrum disorder’. Study selection was collated together in software Zotero for duplication screening. Afterwards, all articles were imported into Rayyan for title and abstract screening, followed by full-text analysis. The information charting process utilized the charting form developed specifically for this scoping review by independent testing on three articles by two reviewers. Any discrepancies between the two reviewers were resolved through discussion and decision from a third reviewer. The study selection process is reported using the Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analyses (PRISMA) flowchart. Seven articles were obtained after the search and screening process. The characteristics of telehealth programs aimed for parents of children with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) are based on the review, such as: (1) telehealth is aimed at increasing parents' skills in caring for children with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD); and/or (2) reducing the stress and anxiety levels of parents while caring for children with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD). The programs were delivered by video conferencing, audio calls, and text messages–using the devices of each participant. Programs could involve various parties to collaborate, such as professionals, therapists, and/or certain agencies. Systematic program in the form of material components and duration of implementation is also important to note, so that the telehealth programs could meet the needs of parents and children with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), especially in the low- and middle-income (LAMI) countries.

Abstract

Adolescence is a crucial stage characterized by significant developmental changes, presenting various challenges, especially for girls. These challenges are often intensified by societal pressures, heavy media consumption, and peer harassment, which can adversely affect well-being. Girls in this age group frequently face anxiety related to identity and appearance. This study evaluates an online-based Mindful Self-Compassion (MSC) program aimed at enhancing self-compassion and mindfulness among adolescent girls. The Mindful Self-Compassion (MSC) program's content validity was assessed, showing strong alignment with its objectives. Utilizing a flipped classroom model, the program combined collaborative sessions with facilitators and independent practice. A quasi-experimental research design was employed to measure the program's impact, with pretest and posttest data collected from intervention and control groups. Analysis of Covariance (ANCOVA) was conducted to control for baseline differences and assess the program's efficacy. Results indicate that the online-based Mindful Self-Compassion (MSC) program is a valid and effective tool for improving self-compassion and mindfulness, fostering positive emotions, and enhancing adaptive emotional management. Participants experienced increased self-understanding, greater acceptance of personal flaws, and the development of positive coping strategies. The findings from both analyses highlight the efficacy of the intervention in enhancing self-compassion and mindfulness among participants.

Abstract

Cross-sectional survey is a research design widely used in Psychology. However, this method may suffer from common method bias (CMB). This study aims to identify studies on common method bias (CMB) and how to address it. A scoping review design was applied, in which eight databases (Science Direct, Springer, Sage Pub, Taylor & Francis, Directory of Open Access Journals [DOAJ], BASE, Scopus, and Web of Science) were invoked to identify interested articles based on the inclusion criteria, i.e., (a) empirical research on common method bias (CMB); (b) published in peer-reviewed English journals from 2003 to 2025; (c) open-accessed articles. Nine eligible articles were captured to be involved in the data-extraction process in parallel by authors to ensure consistency and revealed several findings. Firstly, the common method bias (CMB) impact cannot be overlooked. Next, scholars conducted procedural and statistical remedies to identify and control common method bias (CMB). This study provides insight into how to identify and control the common method bias (CMB) effect and suggests the finding to be shared in research methods courses to improve research quality. Furthermore, this study can also serve as a reference for future research in psychology that employs self-report measurement tools to identify and control common method bias (CMB), thereby ensuring more accurate research conclusions.

Pendekatan “Social-Tech” semakin populer dalam penelitian Psikologi siswa, seperti terlihat dalam Olimpiade Penelitian Siswa Indonesia (OPSI). Selain sebagai tema penelitian, semakin banyak siswa juga mengimplementasikan penggunaan teknologi dalam penelitian, namun tanpa pemahaman teori matang serta panduan dan pendampingan terstruktur. Dalam Surat Kepada Editor ini, para penulis mengajak praktisi dan ilmuwan Psikologi serta pengelola jurnal ilmiah untuk bergerak dari akses menuju aksi, karena merupakan tanggung jawab bersama untuk memastikan bahwa inovasi tumbuh di atas landasan teori Psikologi yang kokoh, metodologi yang tepat, dan etika penelitian yang kuat.

Abstract

This editorial invites Psychology practitioners, scientists, and researchers to re-embrace case reports as a legitimate and meaningful scientific medium for bridging professional practice and conceptual development. Case reports possess the power to capture the complexity of human experience in a contextual and reflective manner—a characteristic that is increasingly relevant amidst limited time, resources, and the demands of real-world practice. Through historical and interdisciplinary review, this editorial emphasizes that case reports are not a marginal form of writing, but rather a scholarly contribution capable of enriching theory, practice, and academic dialogue. Based on this, ANIMA Indonesian Psychological Journal is opening a case report submission category with editorial and peer-review standards equivalent to those for other articles. This initiative aims to provide an inclusive space for authors from various backgrounds and career stages—both novice and experienced—to reflect on Psychology practice ethically, contextually, and with quality.
