Abstract

Tipe pertama memiliki profil tradition values.

Abstract

Melukat is part of the manusa yadnya ceremony, which aims to cleanse and purify individuals physically and spiritually using water. The goal is to cleanse all negativity and eliminate the adverse effects of past actions that still affect us today. The method used is literature study, which is a research method that prioritizes literature search, such as books, news articles and journals and indigenous psychology approaches are used to answer questions about melukat culture and its original characteristics. The ritual process of melukat is believed to heal mental wounds and trauma experienced by the individual due to the past by using water. Doing hugging is usually in a year 2-3x or every 6 months, it depends on the situation of each individual. Melukat is done during Balinese holidays, such as galungan, rahinan, kuningan, Balinese birthday, full moon or tilem, siwaratri and many more. The data findings suggest there are only a few dimensions of psychological well-being that describe individuals after injury. This shows that the benefits of what each individual feels depends on the initial goal before the ritual procession.

Abstract

Epilepsy which is known as "epileptic" disease has become controversial in Indonesia. Epilepsy in Indonesia is considered as a cursed person, a cursed child, the sins of the ancestors, and also possessed by spirits. Epilepsy is also still considered as an infectious disease and also mental illness. This makes a negative stigma against people with epilepsy and also affects the families of epilepsy sufferers. The purpose of this article is to provide a study of the myths of epilepsy sufferers from the perspective of cultural psychology. This study is expected to explain the myths of epilepsy sufferers so that there is no negative stigma against epilepsy sufferers. The myth of epilepsy is in the community because of sudden seizures, sufferers struggling, foaming at the mouth for a few minutes and then returning to normal, this is perceived as being possessed by a spirit that is in accordance with the culture of "kejawen" which is then used by some people to become a supernatural science " witchcraft "so that eventually people with epilepsy are considered as possessed by spirits. With the negative stigma towards epilepsy, Indonesia, which has a high collective culture, causes families of epileptic sufferers to try to hide illnesses from sufferers to protect, maintain the harmony of all family members. Referring to the literature, psychological approaches can be applied in the development and understanding of the myths of epileptic sufferers.

Abstract

In this study, we explain the effect of aromatherapy on stress of students who are working on thesis. This experimental research using a pretest and posttest control group design. This study was implemented in 15 student who randomly allocated into 2 groups through a random assignment process. Prior to the experiment, the participants were given stress induction. The control group was given treatment using a mixture of toner and water with a ratio of 1:4 which was inhaled using a diffuser. The experimental group received treatment using lavender essential oil. In this study, hypothesis testing was conducted using independent samples t-test and paired samples t-test. Based on the results of the hypothesis test that is not significant (p = 0.858), this shows that there is no difference between the results of the pretest and post-test. In this study, the experimental group (mean = -13.500) and the control group (mean = -14.571) experienced a decrease. The decrease that occurred in the control group was influenced by participants beliefs regarding the aromatherapy used, which could lead to a placebo effect or "contextual healing" that build certain trust in participants.

The Tea Pai procession has become one of the 13 essential wedding ceremonies in the Thiong Hua ethnic group, considered significant and irreplaceable despite the evolving times. This ceremony involves the immediate and extended families of the bride and groom, where respect, gifts, and well-wishes for the marriage are always present in the Tea Pai. This research delves deeper into the meaning behind this procession in terms of values, symbols, and communication. These three aspects are examined from the perspective of basic human values developed by Schwartz. The study employs a literature review method covering at least the past 10 years, integrating findings and perspectives from various empirical studies conducted previously.

Abstract

This study explores the perspective of healthcare professionals in psychology toward the practice of melukat as a culturally based psychological therapy in Bali. Using a qualitative approach, in-depth interviews were conducted with three psychologists experienced in both clinical and traditional practices. The findings indicate that melukat is perceived as an effective religious coping strategy for calming the mind, fostering self-reflection, and supporting relaxation, particularly for individuals who believe in the ritual. However, the practice is not regarded as a primary psychological therapy, as it does not meet the standards of a structured therapeutic process. The integration of melukat into modern therapy is considered promising, especially when combined with psychological techniques such as mindfulness and meditation. The participants emphasized the importance of further research to assess the effectiveness of melukat within the context of modern psychology and the need for collaboration between psychologists and traditional leaders to develop a holistic, culturally sensitive approach. These findings provide new insights for developing more inclusive therapeutic models, integrating traditional practices with scientific methods, and addressing cultural sensitivity challenges in mental health services.
