Abstract

The purpose of this study was to find out (1) the effect of problem based learning on student learning outcomes in trigonometry material (2) the effect of project based learning learning on student learning outcomes in trigonometry material (3) the effect of problem based learning and project based learning on results student learning on trigonometry material. This study uses a semi-experimental method. The population in this study were all students of class X-IPA SMA Wachid Hasyim 5 Surabaya. The sample in this study used 2 classes, namely from X-IPA1 and X-IPA2. Class X-IPA1 when learning uses problem based learning while class X-IPA2 uses project based learning. The sampling technique in this study used purposive sampling. The research design used was a non-equivalent control group design and the data analysis technique used was the paired sample t-test and the independent sample t-test. Based on the results of the research data obtained, namely: (1) there is a significant effect on the use of problem based learning on student learning outcomes in trigonometry material (2) there is a significant effect in the use of project based learning on student learning outcomes in trigonometry material (3) no there is a significant influence between problem based learning and project based learning on student learning outcomes in trignometry material.

Abstract

This study aims to describe the types and causes of errors in grade VII students of MTs Manbail Huda Jenu Tuban who have a visual learning style in solving mathematical problems with flat shapes based on Newman's stages. This type of research is explorative qualitative. The errors studied were based on the criteria in the Newman procedure stage. The main instrument is the researcher, while the supporting instruments are problem solving test sheets, and interview guidelines. The research subjects were seventh grade students of MTs Manbail Huda Jenu Tuban who had a visual learning style. The instrument to determine the visual learning style is a learning style test. The subjects interviewed were selected from students who have a visual learning style by paying attention to the ability to express their thoughts orally and in writing. Three students were interviewed with visual learning styles. The results of the analysis show that the types of errors students who have a visual learning style tend to make errors in processing skills (process skill errors) and writing errors in answers (encoding errors). Factors that cause student errors are because students are not confident in solving problems, forget in the steps or process of working and write the final answer that is not in accordance with the question asked and in a hurry to work and lack of accuracy in solving the problem.

Abstract

Indonesian is one of the main subjects taught in schools. This is because students' Indonesian language skills can support success in all fields of study. One of them is Mathematics. Even though Indonesian and Mathematics at first glance look different, the fact is that the two subjects are related to each other. The purpose of this research is to prove the influence of Indonesian language scores on mathematics scores. The research was conducted at MTs N Blora which is located at Jalan Turirejo KM 0.5, Turirejo, Kec. Japan, Kab. Blora, Central Java Province. Where this research was carried out for 29 days, from December 1 to December 29 2022. With the target or targets, namely class VIII students of MTs N Blora. In this study, we used a type of quantitative research. By collecting data based on written documents in the form of data on Mathematics and Indonesian Language scores. This value can be seen in the odd semester PTS scores 2022/2023. Data analysis used is Descriptive Statistical Analysis and Simple Regression Analysis. From the results of the study, a simple linear regression equation was determined, namely Y = 22.375 + 0.751 X . The explanation is that if the value of Indonesian (X) increases by 1 (unit), then the value of Mathematics (Y) will increase by 0.751. Based on the analysis, it can be concluded that Indonesian language skills have a significant influence on the mathematics of class VIII MTs N Blora. Because Indonesian language subjects are the main subjects taught in schools, where students' Indonesian language skills can later support success in all fields of study. One of them is Mathematics.

Abstract

Epistemological barriers arise due to students' limited knowledge of certain contexts because they do not obtain complete information which will result in students' difficulties in finding relationships and in connecting concepts. Epistemological barriers are closely related to errors and difficulties that occur in abstract mathematical study objects, the mathematical objects in question include concepts, facts, and principles. There are three indicators of epistemological barriers, namely conceptual barriers, procedural barriers and technical operational barriers. This obstacle will be studied by looking at the character of students in learning. The results of the study show that the initial concept of the meaning of rank and the technique of a multiplication matrix becomes an obstacle in understanding the concept of a matrix. Meanwhile, the second learning obstacle is a learning obstacle related to students' understanding of the concept of matrix multiplication with matrices. In terms of its relationship with student learning characters, several characters such as low curiosity, discipline, hard work and fond of reading, become inhibiting factors in learning, especially in understanding mathematical concepts, especially matrix concepts.

Abstract

This study is a descriptive study with a qualitative approach aimed at describing the process of solving mathematical problems based on students' multiple intelligences. The subjects of this study were students of class XI of SMK Negeri 2 Tuban in the odd semester of the 2022/2023 academic year. Determination of the subject resulted in four research subjects where 2 subjects represented the type of logical-mathematical intelligence and 2 subjects represented the type of visual-spatial intelligence. The research data were obtained from written tests, interviews, and multiple intelligence tests. The data analysis technique uses 4 steps, namely verbal data transcription, data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion. The results of this study explain that the visual-spatial subject completes 4 stages of problem-solving, namely understanding the problem, determining the problem-solving strategy plan, implementing the problem-solving plan, and reviewing the answers. While the logical-mathematical subject completes three stages of problem-solving, namely understanding the problem, determining a problem-solving strategy plan, and carrying out problem-solving plans.
