Abstract

This study aims to analyze the concept of fitrah as a foundation in Sekolah Fitrah to strengthen Islamic values such as mahabbah or love, mujahadah or perseverance, and sa'adah or happiness. This study is important because of the urgency related to the general issue of declining motivation in the younger generation. This study uses a qualitative approach with interview and observation methods. Data were collected through direct observation of learning activities and interviews with the principal, curriculum team and teachers. The results of the study indicate that Fitrah-based education emphasizes the learning process that is not only seen as a task but also as a useful experience and produces love, perseverance, and happiness. Researchers focus on emphasizing the innate nature or nature of students and developing student motivation in various dimensions such as spiritual, intellectual, physical and others. This study has implications related to appropriate educational strategies to overcome general problems related to demotivation, in this case the researcher focuses on education in non-formal institutions as an alternative solution to the implementation of learning. Researchers realize that this study focuses on a limited research location, therefore recommendations for further research are to expand the context or location of the study and analyze more deeply, especially from the psychological aspect.

Abstract

Rapid changes in the educational environment require schools to have adaptive and visionary leadership strategies. Competition between educational institutions and increasing public expectations for service quality add to the complexity of the challenges of managing educational institutions. In this context, the strategic role of school executives becomes crucial as the determinant of direction and the main driver of institutional transformation. This study aims to analyze how school executives design and implement strategies in building competitive advantages amidst the ever-evolving dynamics. This study uses a qualitative approach by relying on data from various relevant sources, such as previous research and institutional strategic documents. The data obtained are analyzed interpretively to reveal patterns and tendencies in strategic leadership practices in schools. The results of the study indicate that school executives have a central role in determining the direction of policies and program priorities that impact the quality and competitiveness of institutions. Success in building competitiveness is greatly influenced by the leadership's ability to respond to change, manage resources, and involve stakeholders. Although there are various challenges in implementing strategies, consistent and reflective leadership can maintain the continuity of planning and implementation on an ongoing basis.

Abstract

Specifically, this study examines Yusuf Al-Qaradawi’s notion of religious moderation and its contribution to tolerance and interfaith relations at the Universiti Utara Malaysia. This study explores the concept of moderation in religion in a detailed and thorough literature review. Based on the analysis of Al-Qardhawi's writings and qualitative research designs, this research finds that to create a respectful climate between groups and individuals fully dedicated to their veneration but mentally moderate towards each other who could afford greater coexistence relied on integrating religious moderation in line with educational policy and curriculum implementation. The anticipated benefits of these initiatives include: educating students in the practice of respectful discussion across faith traditions; advancing a climate of greater inclusivity on campus – both academically and socially; and encouraging a more constructive faculty-student engagement concerning the religious diversity among our student body. This study seeks both findings and recommendations by identifying additional steps that institutions may take in areas of governance, policy and student services to embrace the value of religious diversity. Increased interfaith dialogue and enhanced social cohesion among students, faculty, and staff will provide additional benefits to the university community that implementation of these recommendations is anticipated to produce. Qualitative research methods will be designed to identify actionable insights and findings on which we can further promote religious tolerance and inclusivity. The findings would lead to the next steps of making further improvements in religious moderation at educational institutions, to create a more harmonious and respectful academic atmosphere.

Abstract

This qualitative study investigates elementary school teachers’ conceptual understanding and instructional strategies for teaching division, with a focus on Bruner’s stages of representation—enactive, iconic, and symbolic. Data were collected from 32 Indonesian teachers through open-ended prompts exploring their interpretations of division and classroom practices. Findings reveal a predominant reliance on procedural models, particularly repeated subtraction, with limited use of conceptual models like equal grouping or inverse multiplication. While many teachers employ concrete strategies, few demonstrate coherent transitions to visual and symbolic representations, resulting in fragmented instruction. The analysis also highlights inconsistencies between teachers' conceptual models and instructional methods, underscoring gaps in pedagogical content knowledge. By integrating frequency tables and case comparisons, the study identifies the need for professional development that supports representational fluency and conceptual alignment. Bruner’s framework is proposed as a guide to scaffold instruction that supports diverse learners and fosters deeper mathematical understanding. Implications for teacher education and curriculum design are discussed.

Abstract

Learning to memorize the Qur'an is an important part of Islamic education that requires effective strategies to be able to form a generation of memorizers of the Qur'an who excel spiritually and intellectually. This study aims to reveal the learning strategy for memorizing the Qur'an from the perspective of Albert Bandura's theory in two Islamic educational institutions in Bontang City, namely MAN Bontang (state) and SMA IT YABIS (private). A qualitative approach with a multi-site study design was used in this study, with data collection techniques in the form of observation, in-depth interviews, and documentation. Bandura's theory was used as the basis for analysis, especially in the aspects of modeling (exemplary behavior of teachers and peers), self-efficacy (student self-confidence), and reinforcement (social reinforcement). The results of the study showed that the learning strategy for memorizing the Qur'an in both institutions prioritized a personal approach, intensive mentoring, and strengthening the Qur'anic character through mentoring activities, joint muroja'ah, and a structured reward system. MAN Bontang excels in systemic reinforcement through the madrasah program, while SMA IT YABIS excels in an individual approach and family involvement. In conclusion, the learning strategy for memorizing the Al-Qur'an based on Bandura's theory has been proven to be able to significantly increase students' motivation, self-confidence, and memorization achievements, and is relevant to be applied in the context of Islamic education in both state and private institutions by adjusting the characteristics of the institution.
