Abstract

This study aims to: (1) analyze the effect of implementing tarbiyah rūhiyah on akhlāqul karīmah in Makassar STIBA students; (2) analyze the effect of implementing tarbiyah ṡaqāfiyah on akhlāqul karīmah in Makassar STIBA students; and (3) analyzing the influence of the implementation of jasadiyah tarbiyah on akhlāqul karīmah in Makassar STIBA students. This study uses data obtained from respondents through questionnaires and a quantitative approach through the component-based Structural Equation Modeling (SEM) technique or variant with Partial Least Square (PLS). The results showed that: (1) the implementation of tarbiyah rūhiyah had a positive and significant effect on akhlāqul karīmah for STIBA Makassar students; (2) the implementation of tarbiyah ṡaqāfiyah has a positive and significant effect on the akhlāqul karīmah of STIBA Makassar students; and (3) the implementation of tarbiyah jasadiyah has a positive and significant effect on akhlāqul karīmah for STIBA Makassar students. Therefore, as a policy recommendation, fostering student akhlāqul karīmah in tertiary institutions can be carried out through the Islamic tarbiyah program as an extracurricular activity. The application of student akhlāqul karīmah coaching can be done through integration into the lecture process. Interventions for the implementation of the Islamic tarbiyah program in tertiary institutions can be applied by making rules and signs for akhlāqul karīmah both on campus and outside the campus

Abstract

This study attempts to provide a conceptual map of Arabic language teaching using a methodological mapping approach. Arabic language has long been negatively perceived as difficult, boring, and complex, ultimately leading to severe rigidity and a loss of motivation. The aim of this research is to combine educational concepts using quantity and hypermedia, meaning methods and educational approaches aimed at dispelling the negative perceptions and reviving the motivation to learn Arabic. This research is conducted through a qualitative approach with the assumption of developmental research. Non-probabilistic sampling using purposive sampling (non-random) with observational data sampling techniques was employed in Pondok Pesantren Al-Amin Perinduan Sumenep and Nurul Jadid Probolingo, East Java. The results of this study indicate that the application of the quantum and hypermedia methods can reduce students' stiffness in learning the Arabic language. This research contributes to the analysis and appropriate steps in other subjects as well.

Abstract

Low tax technology literacy remains a challenge. Many taxpayers struggle to use digital tax administration systems such as DJP Online, which affects tax compliance. To address this, the Directorate General of Taxes (DJP) collaborates with educational institutions such as Sunan Gunung Djati State Islamic University Bandung through the Renjani program, inviting students to contribute in helping improve technology literacy, which in turn will impact tax compliance. This study aims to analyze the collaboration between DGT and UIN Sunan Gunung Djati Bandung in improving tax technology literacy and tax compliance at Cicadas Primary Tax Office. The study employs a descriptive qualitative method through interviews and participatory observation at Cicadas Primary Tax Office. The results show that this collaboration is effective in increasing tax technology literacy and taxpayer compliance, although there are some shortcomings in the technical aspects of the volunteer program implementation. The Tax Volunteer program helps taxpayers who are less familiar with tax technology, improving their perception of the usefulness and ease of use of digital tax systems according to the Technology Acceptance Model (TAM) framework. This increase in compliance also has a positive impact on tax revenue at Cicadas Primary Tax Office. The study recommends further development of this collaborative program in various regions to optimize tax revenue through enhanced technology literacy.

Abstract

This study aims to determine, analyze and reveal whether the character education policy can be implemented effectively at UIN Datokarama Palu. Qualitative research method. The research location is at Datokarama State Islamic University Palu. Informants as many as 7 people were selected purposively. Data collection was conducted using interview, observation and documentation techniques. The data analysis technique uses the Miles and Huberman interactive model. The theory that is used as a reference in this research is the theory of George C. Edward III (2010: 96-110) by looking at four factors of successful policy implementation, namely communication, resources, disposition, and bureaucratic structure. The results showed that only three factors were quite effective, namely communication, disposition, and bureaucratic structure. Meanwhile, the resource factor tends to be less effective because of the four resource elements studied, two elements are ineffective, namely the quantity of staff (human resources) is relatively minimal. Similarly, the facilities that are expected to support the successful implementation of character education policies are still not in accordance with the demands of the needs. The causal factors include the limited formation of new lecturer appointments and the natural disasters of the earthquake, tsunami and liquefaction that hit the Datokarama Palu State Islamic University Campus. Novelty in this research is that the implementation of character education policies is not only seen as the implementation of the main tasks of the implementers but also interpreted as a worship that can be a source of jariah charity.

Abstract

This article examines the Strengthening of Character through Comparative Rhetoric and Istifham (Rhetorical Questions): A Study of E. Abdurrahman’s Thoughts on Moral Education. As a second-generation activist of the PERSIS organization, besides being proficient in the field of fiqh, E. Abdurrahman demonstrated significant attention to moral education. He published at least 87 articles on moral education in various Islamic magazines between 1936 and 1983. The findings of this study indicate three key principles of moral education: moral education should be elevated from mere ability (bisa) to habitual practice (biasa); it must culminate in loyalty to God; and it should be student-centered, grounded in the philosophy of ngajeujeuhkeun. The concepts of "giving and sustaining life," "ensuring and promoting safety," and "establishing and maintaining security" are three essential terms used to define the goals of moral education. From the 87 articles, E. Abdurrahman’s core materials on moral education can be categorized into eleven topics: the purpose of life, the profile of the ideal human, the urgency of moral education, heart cultivation, life resources, justice, balance, the inner dimension of worship, food and drink, death, and shame. From the perspective of strengthening moral education, Abdurrahman positioned tawahum (empathy) as a pillar for determining the methods of moral education. At the implementation level, tawahum is associated with the teacher's ability to engage in persuasive communication by employing various rhetorical styles that touch emotions, such as comparative rhetoric and istifham.

Abstract

Specifically, this study examines Yusuf Al-Qardhawi’s notion of religious moderation and its contribution to tolerance and interfaith relations at the Universiti Utara Malaysia. This study explores the concept of moderation in religion in a detailed and thorough literature review. Based on the analysis of Al-Qardhawi's writings and qualitative research designs, this research finds that to create a respectful climate between groups and individuals fully dedicated to their veneration but mentally moderate towards each other who could afford greater coexistence relied on integrating religious moderation in line with educational policy and curriculum implementation. The anticipated benefits of these initiatives include: educating students in the practice of respectful discussion across faith traditions; advancing a climate of greater inclusivity on campus – both academically and socially; and encouraging a more constructive faculty-student engagement concerning the religious diversity among our student body. This study seeks both findings and recommendations by identifying additional steps that institutions may take in areas of governance, policy and student services to embrace the value of religious diversity. Increased interfaith dialogue and enhanced social cohesion among students, faculty, and staff will provide additional benefits to the university community that implementation of these recommendations is anticipated to produce. Qualitative research methods will be designed to identify actionable insights and findings on which we can further promote religious tolerance and inclusivity. The findings would lead to the next steps of making further improvements in religious moderation at educational institutions, to create a more harmonious and respectful academic atmosphere.

Abstract

In facing the demands of globalisation and the Fourth Industrial Revolution, Islamic education in Indonesia encounters challenges to remain relevant by preserving religious values while responding to the need for practical skills. This study aims to explore the transformation of Islamic education in Indonesia, particularly in the context of the shift from the scholarly tradition of tafaqquh fiddin (deep understanding of religion) to applied sciences. The research evaluates how Islamic boarding schools (pesantren), Islamic schools (madrasah), and Islamic higher education institutions (PTKI, or Perguruan Tinggi Keagamaan Islam) adapt to the demands of globalisation and modern economic developments requiring practical and professional skills. This study employs a qualitative approach by analysing literature, curricula, and policies related to Islamic education in Indonesia. Data were collected from various sources such as journals, books, and policy documents. The findings reveal that Islamic education in Indonesia has undergone significant transformation. Pesantren have begun integrating vocational skills such as agribusiness and information technology, madrasah have broadened their focus to include academic education and practical skills, while PTKI have adopted non-religious programmes such as economics and health sciences. This transformation has produced graduates who not only possess profound religious understanding but also practical skills relevant to the modern job market. The study underscores the importance of integrating religious education with applied sciences to ensure the relevance of Islamic education in the modern era. These findings provide a foundation for the development of adaptive educational policies, such as competency-based curricula and support for vocational education. This research also offers a unique contribution to the literature on Islamic education by highlighting a significant shift in the scholarly tradition in Indonesia, particularly in balancing religious values with applicative skills for success in the professional world.

Abstract

Tolerance is a core value in Islam that is derived from the Qur'an and Hadith, emphasising social harmony and respect for differences. Verses like QS. Al-Baqarah: 256 and QS. Al-Mumtahanah: 8, as well as the hadiths on human relationships, show that diversity is part of the divine will. However, erroneous or limited interpretations can lead to practices that are contrary to these values. Therefore, a contextual approach is important to maintain the relevance of the teachings of tolerance in Islam in the modern era. Islamic educational institutions have a strategic role in instilling the values of tolerance through the curriculum, education, and cultural practices of the school. This study emphasises the importance of reinterpreting religious teachings to answer contemporary socio-cultural challenges, as well as the integration of tolerance values that combine faith, science, and humanity. However, there are significant challenges in interpreting the postulates of tolerance contextually, such as resistance from textualist groups, the dominance of traditionalist perspectives, and ideological pressure. To answer this challenge, a deep interpretive approach from thinkers such as Quraish Shihab and Amin Abdullah is needed for religious texts to make a positive contribution to pluralistic and peaceful societies. This article bridges the gap between textual and contextual studies of tolerance in Islam. By analysing the Qur'an and Hadith, this study enriches the academic discourse on universal values in Islamic teachings and the importance of education as a means of internalising these values. The article also proposes practical strategies, including curriculum reform and teacher training based on Islamic universal values, to build a tolerant and inclusive generation. Empirically based follow-up studies are recommended to evaluate the effectiveness of the implementation of tolerance values in various types of Islamic educational institutions, both madrasas, Islamic boarding schools, and modern Islamic schools.

Abstract

The implementation of the Merdeka Belajar Kampus Merdeka (MBKM) policy in Islamic Higher Education (PTKI) represents a significant shift in Indonesia’s education system. This study evaluates the impact of MBKM on PTKI institutions using sentiment analysis and automatic text summarization. By analyzing 2,416 tweets (2020-2023) from PTKI academics, this study highlights perceptions, challenges, and policy implications. Results indicate that 82.76% of tweets expressed positive sentiment, emphasizing the benefits of MBKM in curriculum flexibility and industry collaboration. However, 17.24% of tweets highlighted challenges, including policy mismanagement, unclear implementation, and student stress. To enhance policy effectiveness, this study recommends stronger institutional support, clearer policy guidelines, and enhanced digital infrastructure to ensure MBKM benefits all PTKI students equitably.
