Abstract

This research aims to develop learning tools with Guided Discovery Model Assisted by Interactive Simulation (GDM-IS) on static fluid concepts. This research uses the 4D development method to produce learning tools but only carries out 3 stages, namely Define, Design and Development. At the development stage, validation is carried out on the GDM-IS learning tools that have been developed which include RPP, Student Worksheets (LKPD), Learning Media. Limited trial using a One Shoot Case Study research design. In this design, the learning instruments that have been developed are used in one class as a sample of 38 students. Data on science process skills was taken through observation by two observers. Based on the analysis of the validation results, the assessment of the RPP, LKPD and media is in a percentage above 80% which is in the valid (good) category.

Abstract

This research explores the transformative potential of Project-Based Learning (PBL) in Mandarin language education by presenting a comprehensive case study. Highlighting the increasing importance of Mandarin proficiency in today's education world, the study investigates how PBL fosters language skills and cultural understanding. Drawing upon a mixed-methods research design, the study assesses pre- and post-implementation outcomes, student engagement, linguistic competence, and challenges faced in PBL adoption. Findings indicate that PBL enhances student engagement, motivation, and linguistic proficiency, while also deepening cultural understanding. Despite challenges in implementation and assessment, the study advocates for the integration of PBL in Mandarin instruction to create dynamic and immersive learning environments that prepare students for success in a globalized world.

Abstract

This article discusses the possibility of using video game as an educational tool for children personal learning. Since the first video games were introduced in the 1970’s, people have been discussing both the negative and the positive effects of video games. Whereas most public address video games as the responsible party on degrading the academic grades and morale of children nowadays, people might have seemed to overlook the role that video games play in our lives by providing us with a medium to entertain ourselves. This article will first talk about a brief history of video games before continuing to discuss several opinions on video games. It will also look at the current discussions and debates regarding the use of video games as learning tools and education. This will then be followed by some concerns about the negative impact of video games as well as the reasons behind these concerns. It will then describe what aspects where video games can help ESL/EFL students in the personal learning, providing some examples in the process. Finally, some suggestions about how different interest groups can be involved to assist and maximize the use of video games for personal learning. It is my contention that video games can be a helpful tool for the ESL/EFL learners in their Personal Learning process at home.

Abstract

This study aims to improve the poetry writing skills of grade X students at SMA Negeri 19 Makassar by applying modeling techniques. Modeling is a learning method that involves a practical approach, where students observe, try, and respond to the actions of teachers or models who are competent in a skill. This study used a qualitative approach with a classroom action research design. The subject of this study was a grade X student at SMA Negeri 19 Makassar who could write poetry that still needs to be improved. The research instrument involves observation, interviews, and portfolio analysis of student poetry writing results. The collected data were qualitatively analyzed to identify changes in the ability to write poetry after applying modeling techniques. The results of this study showed that the improvement in the ability to write poetry through modeling techniques for Class X students of SMAN 19 Makassar has increased. The increase in students' poetry writing skills resulted in 70.74 in cycle 1 and 79.35 in cycle 2.

Abstract

This research aims to determine the effectiveness of the STEM approach on learning outcomes about the properties of liquids in Class VB students at the IKIP I Makassar State Elementary School Complex. This research is a form of research with a quantitative approach, using a type of pre-experimental designs (non-designs) research with a one-group pretest-posttest research design. The design is intended to determine the effectiveness of the STEM learning approach on student learning outcomes in Learning the Properties of Liquids. The average student learning outcomes before implementing the STEM Approach was 76.74, while the average student learning outcomes after implementing the STEM Approach was 86.09. This means that the learning outcomes of students using the STEM approach are better when compared to conventional methods. The difference in learning outcomes is significant, where the Sig. (2-tailed) 0.000 smaller than the sig level. 0.05. This means that the average value of student learning outcomes after implementing the STEM Approach compared to before implementing the STEM Approach is 86.09 > 76.74. The results of the hypothesis test show that the STEM approach is practical in the learning outcomes of class V students at the IKIP I Makassar Complex Public Elementary School. The level of effectiveness of using the STEM approach before and after learning can be seen from the average N-Gain Score of 0.4624 in the interval 0.3 ≤ g ≤ 0.7 in the medium category. This can be seen from an increase in the average student learning outcomes, initially in the excellent category, to becoming very good categories and the percentage of students who obtained learning outcomes in the good and very good categories, which has increased.
