Abstract

The library as a source of information must of course provide sources of information that can be utilized by users in meeting their information needs. Libraries must have collections that can support the needs of users by providing reference sources that can be used as sources of information. By providing secondary sources of library information such as bibliographies and government publications. Bibliography and Government Publications are one of the general reference sources that contain various important information that can be useful in information retrieval. The purpose of writing this article is to provide an overview related to the use of bibliography and government publications as a source of information, especially for users to meet information needs. Constraints in the use of Bibliography, namely the user does not know how to use the Bibliography. Meanwhile, obstacles in the use of government publications, namely human resources with educational background in Library Science are still minimal so that management is not optimal, lack of responsibility and initiative for library staff to manage government publications, has not been inputted to a computer which results in difficult retrieval processes and collections of publications are not yet available. neatly arranged. Besides that, so that the general public can take advantage of the services of general reference sources in the library as a reference in finding information.

Abstract

Reference unit is the core service of the libraries in fulfilling the information needs of their users. As technology develops, reference services are currently switching to virtual to facilitate users in reach their information. The purpose of this research is to review and analyze the actual implementation of the impact of information technology on current library reference services, in Asian continent countries; and to know what are features used in reference services development. The method used is a qualitative approach through literature study. Data were obtained by making virtual visits to public library websites in Asia that have implemented the Ask Librarian reference service. The results show that (1) the impact of technological developments on reference services made it easier for users to ask questions through the Ask Librarian for 24 hours to obtain an information that they needed; and (2) there are five types of virtual reference Services applied that can be used by users, namely: (a) Internet Reference Enquiry Service via email and/ or form; (b) Live-chat; (c) FAQs (Frequently Asked Questions); (d) Links to Other Library Reference Services; and (e) Call the Librarian.

Abstract

Good collection management is also good information management. Collections are also a key factor in determining user satisfaction, therefore collections need to be developed. The purpose of writing this article is a best practice carried out by the University of Hayam Wuruk Perbanas which can be an illustration or an addition to the treasures of knowledge in the world of libraries, especially in terms of collection development. This writing method uses a literature study. Up-to-date information in a library is an important thing and must be done in order to preserve information and develop knowledge. This cannot be separated from the use of information and communication technology (ICT) which is applied in the library. Collection of library materials is an embodiment of the information preservation process. Collection development carried out by libraries is a very important process because in these activities, libraries involve users and leaders or stakeholders. The collections owned must be in accordance with the needs of users and the direction of the purpose of the formation of the library itself. So it is necessary to develop a library collection management that can meet the needs of users. Collection development needs to be carried out on an ongoing basis so that users can use the library continuously so that dependence on the library arises. The collection development process consists of analyzing user needs, selecting library material collections, holding library materials, conducting stock taking, maintaining library materials and weeding. This is done as an effort to maintain the up-to-date information contained in the library because the main purpose of a library is to be a user. From the results of the discussion writer concludes that the collections owned by the Hayam Wuruk Library at Perbanas Surabaya are in accordance with the needs of users. Abstract

The quality of collections in the library is an important parameter in the assessment of a library. As an information provider unit, the library must be able to ensure that the library materials that are held and stored must be in accordance with the needs of the users and the library needs to develop collections for the needs of the users. This study discusses the selection of library materials in the development of collections at the UPT library of UIN Saizu Purwokerto. The purpose of this study was to find out how the selection process for library materials was carried out in developing collections at UPT Saizu UIN library. The research method used is qualitative research by taking four respondents consisting of one head of the library and three librarians in the management of UIN Saizu. The interview technique was carried out in a structured manner using interview guidelines. The observation technique used non-participants by visiting directly to the research location for two weeks. The data validity technique is source triangulation and descriptive research data analysis. The results of this study indicate that the selection of library materials does not run smoothly when carried out by professional librarians who can build collections. Selection of library materials carried out by UPT Saizu UIN library firstly the librarian submits proposals from students who have completed the list of recommendations given by the library, checking library catalogs through OPAC (Online Public Access Catalog) searches, verifying by checking and completing bibliographic data for each title. The tools used by the UIN Saizu library are book scales and publisher catalogs.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the implementation of the planning function to build a website-based digital library. The research method uses descriptive qualitative. The theory used is one of the functions of digital library management, the planning function. Data collection techniques are carried out through interviews, observations, documentation, and literature studies, then the data is described, explained, or interpreted in the results and discussion. The results of the study reveal that planning to build a website-based digital library starts with stating the objectives that are packaged in the vision and mission of the BPK Penabur Cirebon digital library website. Hardware and software planning is provided and developed both independently and in collaboration with third parties. Planning for the uploading process on the BPK Penabur Cirebon digital library website is to provide e-books that come from a credible and trusted download platform and are legal to use. Development and maintenance planning is carried out by planning innovations that will be applied to digital library websites that aim to provide user satisfaction. Maintenance is a plan to check the hardware and software that support the digital library website. The budget is channeled for the purposes of the digital library website, which consists of the purchase or rental of hardware and software. Planning for HR is carried out by training or briefing on digital library operations and writing information and news to be published in websites digital library.

Abstract

The ease of access to social media owned by teenagers is considered to be able to make teenagers spend most of their time without clear goals. On the other hand, youth are part of a digital community that participates in the progress of their country. This phenomenon is the background of this study. The goal of this research was to find a solution to the youth's low literacy rate. The method of this study is a literature review. The research findings show that in order to realize literate youth, collaboration and commitment from three important elements are needed, namely family, government, and society. The conclusion from this study is that the solution to low adolescent literacy is to realize literate youth through efforts to build high motivation for individual youth to think, read, and write, which can be built through the role of family elements. The next element is that the government, as a regulator, can play a role in issuing policies that support Indonesian families to improve literacy. The author considers that the various benefits received by adolescents through social media should be accompanied by restrictions on access to their use. Limiting access to social media can be outlined in a clear government policy. The next element is the community, which can play a role in educating and raising awareness regarding climate change and strengthening literacy for young people in Indonesia through a healthy internet campaign for young people. Communities can also build youth literacy communities and obtain assistance from the government, both at the central government and local government levels.

Abstract

The development of services in the library can be implemented through certain programs that are related to the objectives to be achieved in the library, one of which is information services related to regional characteristics contained in the Satu Kecamatan Satu Buku (Sake Sabuk) Program. The purpose of this study was to describe and analyze the Sake Sabuk Program as an effort to develop services at the Sumedang District Public Library. The research method used is qualitative. Data were obtained through interviews, observation, documentation, and literature study. The research results obtained that the efforts made by the Sumedang District Public Library by implementing the Sake Sabuk Program had a good impact on service development activities in the library. The community becomes aware of the uniqueness of the Sumedang Regency area. In its implementation, this program received various support from both internal and external parties. In addition, the implementation of the program is inseparable from obstacles, namely the lack of direct and indirect socialization and promotion activities in the community. Many people, especially in Sumedang Regency, are still not aware of this program.

Abstract

The research entitled Implementation of Open Courseware Services in Telkom University Open Library as a Free Learning Media aims to obtain a clear picture of the steps for implementing Open Courseware Open Library Services. This research is motivated by the motivation of Open Library to provide information and provide easy access to information by providing free learning in the form of learning video content for the general public through the Open Library open courseware service. In this study using a case study approach with qualitative research methods equipped with data collection techniques through observation, interviews and documentation. The Open Library opencourseware service was used as the object of research and 4 informants in this study were used as research subjects. Based on the analysis of research data and drawing conclusions, the results of this study indicate that the steps for implementing the open courseware Open Library service consist of planning, collecting references, entering data, setting topics, processing or production, controlling material, storing data, reporting editing results, review of learning content, storage and posting of learning materials. In implementing the open courseware Open Library service, there are influencing elements consisting of the communicator, message, context, media, and recipient.

Abstract

Interior design is very important and needs to be considered when building a library. Efforts to present a library interior design that meets the needs and comfort of library visitors requires good understanding and planning. Library interiors that combine aesthetic values will affect the use of library services for users. This study uses the method of literature study or literature review through scientific concepts that discuss library science from several library journals and interior design. The research develops the main issues on how interior design can affect the comfort of library visitors and how to develop a good library interior design. The aim of the research is to find out how interior design affects the comfort of library visitors. This research is expected to be useful for library development and facilitate planning in the library.

Abstract

This study aims to determine efforts to improve children's services at the Library Service of Hulu Sungai Utara in 2023. The research method is a qualitative descriptive approach. Data collection techniques used literature studies and interviews with the head and librarian of the North Hulu Sungai District Library Service. The results of the study show that in an effort to improve children's services in 2023, the Library Service of Hulu Sungai Utara Regency has made a lot of improvements in the availability of various elements of children's services, namely in terms of collections, facilities,and types of children's services that are compatible with child's needs and age. Efforts to improve it by providing computers to browse catalog data, computers for visitors, locker rooms, lobby rooms, reading corners as well as new games such as swings, ball baths, and others. Librarians/service staff at the Library Service of Hulu Sungai Utara District do not yet have children's librarians, namely librarians specifically for children's services. Efforts made are holding special programs as well as promotions directly and indirectly.
