Abstract

Oil palm meal is one of the wastes whose utilization is still very little because it has a fairly high crude fiber, so it is necessary to use fishery EM4 for crude fiber-lowering fermentation. The fermented palm oil cake can be used as raw material for tilapia fish feed combined with other organic materials. The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of oil palm meal on the weight and length of tilapia, determine the buoyancy of the feed and the proximate content of palm oil cake feed. This research was conducted from January to September 2021 in Tulang Bawang Tengah Subdistrict, Tulang Bawang Barat Regency, Lampung and the proximate test was conducted at the Center for Quality Testing and Certification of Feed, Setu Subdistrict, Bekasi Regency, West Java. The study used an experimental method with a completely randomized design (CRD), PO treatment of ordinary feed and P1 artificial feed (fermented palm oil meal + fish meal + tapioca flour + bran). The results of the study showed that artificial feed from oil palm waste had a significant effect on weight gain and length of tilapia. Fish length began to have a significant effect at week 6 MSA. Fish weight began to have a significant effect on 8 MSA. The buoyancy of palm oil cake feed has a higher buoyancy and the proximate content of artificial feed is suitable for consumption by tilapia.

Abstract

Increasing the area of ??oil palm plantations in Indonesia must be accompanied by a plantation land optimization program so as to provide maximum results in maintaining the sustainability of plantation land in the future. One of the optimization of plantation land is intercropping. This study aims to determine the implementation model of oil palm and watermelon intercropping in smallholder oil palm plantations. This research was conducted directly in the field using the Demonstration Plot (Demplot) method of intercropping oil palm and watermelon. In this method, observations include observations of the condition of the land, soil conditions, physical conditions of oil palm plants and the condition of watermelons. In addition, the in-depth interview method was also conducted for farmers to get an explanation of the process of land preparation, planting, maintenance, and harvesting. The results showed that the implementation of the oil palm and watermelon intercropping model was economically very profitable, reaching Rp. 6,488,800/hectare/season. On the environmental aspect, the intercropping method in oil palm plantations has a very good impact on soil conditions in retaining water, maintaining moisture, and preventing soil erosion.

Abstract

A sterilizer is a pressurized steam vessel used to boil oil palm fruit. The effective boiling process greatly determines the quality of the boiled fruit, as well as the effectiveness of extracting oil from the fruit flesh. Setting the stages of opening and closing the inlet valve, exhaust valve and condensate valve, greatly affects the quality of the product. The formation of the triple peak pattern needed to get the best results is formed from the operational settings of the three valves through 9 steps with a very short time duration. The manual operation of the sterilizer clearly has a less effective impact on the performance of the sterilizer. The Sterilizer prototype was designed in the context of researching the Arduino UNO application to support an automatic control system for 3 valve units (inlet, exhaust and condensate) so that they can operate following predetermined cycles and stages. As well as the convenience of monitoring the rate of change of air pressure in the cooking tube, through the LCD monitor device. The results showed that the use of Arduino UNO as a controller in controlling the performance of the Inlet Valve, Exhaust Valve and Condensate Valve could be done well. Monitor display that displays the rate of change of pressure based on the embedded pressure sensor, can be monitored properly. The maximum pressure applied to the protorype tube sterilizer is 1.4 bar. With an interval of 1 boiling cycle for 87 seconds.

Abstract

Palm oil shell is a large palm oil processing wastes, reaching 60% of oil production. Utilization of oil palm shell biomass can be used for biopellets and biooil. Cellulose, hemicellulose, and lignin components in biomass are factors that affect the quantity and quality of biooil produced. This study aims to make grade 2 biooil from oil palm shells with the pyrolysis method, to determine the physical properties of biooil produced from oil palm shell pyrolysis. Palm oil shells can be converted into grade 2 biooil by pyrolysis method. Samples that are close to the parameters of the physical properties of biooil are actually obtained with a burning time of 1 hour and have a density of 1.0391 gr/cm with a pH of 2.91 and a grade 2 biooil with a density of 1.0038 gr/cm with a pH of 2.87. Analysis of grade 2 biooil with GC-MS identified 1.15 Pentadecanediol (C16H32O2) 37.603%; n-Hexadecanoic acid (C16H32O2) 18.923%; phenol (C6H6O) 28.961%.

Abstract

Demand forecasting will provide a solution in planning the number of products to be marketed. Forecasting is a source of information that can be used by companies to prepare themselves in determining the strategy going forward. Demand forecasting in this research is done by marketing mix approach using artificial neural network backpropagation and analysis method used is qualitative and quantitative analysis. The accuracy of forecasting with marketing mix approach using backpropagation neural network is 97.324%. Forecasting results show that the variation of the marketing mix is directly proportional to the change in the volume of demand for apples. Overall increases in distribution costs and promotional costs led to an increase in the number of consumer demand. Decrease in distribution costs and promotional costs also resulted in a decrease in the number of consumer demand.

Abstract

The use of steam power plants in palm oil mills is still a profitable alternative to use, therefore in-depth knowledge of various matters relating to steam power generation systems is required. The main function of the boiler is to produce steam which is used in the sterilization process for processed palm oil and is also used in the clarification process of crude palm oil (CPO). Apart from the above functions, one boiler unit in the palm oil mill is also used to generate electrical energy which is used to support the production process and needs in the palm oil mill environment. In a boiler system, the readiness and conditioning of the equipment need to be considered in order to meet the planned production targets. Good efficiency needs to be maintained in a boiler, by conducting periodic inspections and checking of the components in the boiler. Then, a boiler also functions as a vital tool in a crude palm oil (CPO) processing plant.

Abstract

Larvae of Menochilus sexmaculatus Fabr. has an important role in the aspect of biological control by using natural enemies (predators) in a sustainable and sustainable manner. This study aims to determine the interaction and predation of the larvae of Menochilus sexmaculatus Fabr. against Aphis gossypii Glover in the pre-nursery area of ??Elaeis guineensis Jacq. at the nursery stage of oil palm plantations. This research was conducted in an oil palm nursery area of ??Karapyak village, Cintamekar Serangpanjang, Subang, West Java. This research is an exploratory research conducted in February – March 2022. The results of the study indicate that Menochilus sexmaculatus Fabr. has the potential to be used as a biological agent. Menochilus sexmaculatus Fabr. has a life cycle that can be adapted in oil palm plantation areas, especially nursery areas. During the 15 minute observation period a larva of Menochilus sexmaculatus Fabr. on average the most capable of preying on the nymph stage of Aphis gossypii Glover as many as 8.4 tails. This was followed by 4 wingless imago stages, 2.2 egg stages and 0.8 winged imago stages. Utilization of natural enemies of the larvae of Menochilus sexmaculatus Fabr. Aphis gossypii Glover is very important to support the success of environmentally sound and sustainable plant pest control in oil palm nurseries.

Abstract

This research discusses controlling the gap of Actual Processing Time and Ideal Processing Time in a palm oil mill (PKS). The purpose is to find out how the gap of the two processing times for palm oil in the PKS and how the losses experienced by the company with these conditions. This research uses the individual moving range (I-MR) Chart method. The test is carried out first with the MR-Chart, and will be revised if there is an out-of-control condition. Next will be testing the condition of the time gap with the x-Chart. In the event of an out-of-control condition, a process capability measurement (Cp) will be carried out. The result showed that the PKS studied had poor gap processing time, although the gap that occurred were still within reasonable limits in accordance with the performance of the PKS. However, this condition still results in considerable losses for the company because it has to incur more operational costs than it should.

Abstract

The use of herbicides is a weed control methods in oil palm plantations, will have a negative impact on plants and the environment if used continuously. Imperata cylindrica can be used as a natural bioherbicide because it contains compounds that can inhibit the growth of other plants. This study aims to obtain alternative organic materials as bioherbicides for controlling pre-growing weeds in oil palm early nurseries. The method used was a non-factorial randomized block design (RBD) with P0 (Without Bioherbicide Extract), P1 (1% Extract), P2 (2% Extract) and P3 (3% Extract). The results showed that the rhizome of the alang-alang (Imperata cylindrica) can be used as an alternative material for making bioherbicides for controlling pre-growing weeds in early oil palm nurseries. Provision of alang-alang rhizome extract as a bioherbicide did not show a significant effect on the morphology and physiology of oil palm seedlings. The content of compounds contained in the bioherbicide extract of the pre-growing rhizome of alang-alang consists of flavonoids 0.097% and tannins 0.105%. Provision of alang-alang rhizome bioherbicide extract with an extract concentration of 2% is recommended as a concentration that can be used to reduce weed growth.

Abstract

Controlled Droplet Application (CDA) is a herbicide spraying tool that uses a battery dynamo power and a disc-shaped nozzle, which can dispense a more even spray solution. Spraying activities will also be completed faster with high work performance. The purpose of this study was to determine the effectiveness and efficiency of the knapsack sprayer and CDA, as well as the mortality rate of weeds after the application of the two tools. Parameters observed were spraying time, work performance, weed mortality rate and cost comparison. The results showed that the CDA sprayer was more effective in controlling weeds, because it was able to spray an area of ??1381.6 m2/tank and was also more efficient at a cost of Rp. 53,508/ha. Meanwhile, the knapsack sprayer is capable of spraying an area of ??188.4 m2/tank at a cost of Rp 89,436/ha. Weed mortality rate after herbicide application with CDA sprayer reached 99%, whereas with knapsack sprayer it only reached 90%.
