Abstract

The objective of this research was to get empirical evidence about the effect of word chain game on Student’s Vocabulary Mastery and to identify the students’ achievement in learning vocabulary through word chain game. This research used quantitative method. The sample of this research was the first grade of SMK Swasta Abdi Negara Binjai at academic year 2018/2019. With the total number 25 students from each class. The research conducted experiment in two different classes with word chain game was employed in an experimental class and other technique was employed in a controlled class. The data were collected through the achievement of pre-test and post-test from two classes. The result showed that teaching vocabularies by using word chain game was more effective than using conventional method. word chain game has served a positive influence. So, it can be concluded that word chain game has positive effect to the first grade students of SMK Swasta Abdi Negara Binjai in teaching vocabulary.

Abstract

This research is conducted in order to improve students’ writing ability uing Round Table Technique at Nineth grade of SMP Pabaku Stabat. The study is concerning with experimental study which discussed the effect of round table technique on students’ ability in writing report text. It took place at SMP Pabaku Stabat. The subjects were the nineth grade students with the population of 132 students. 72 students were chosen as the sample and group into experimental and control group. Each group consisted of 36 students. The experimental group was taught with round table technique while the control one was taught without round table technique. A writing test was used to collect the data on the students’ writing ability. The data collected were analyzed by using t-test. The result of the data analysis showed that the t-observed was 7,24. It was higher that the value of t-table (tt) is 1,66 for 5% and 2,38 for 1%. This meant that the alternative hypothesis (Ha) was accepted. It can be concluded that there is effect of round table technique on students’ ability in writing report text of nineth grade of SMP Pabaku Stabat in academic year 2018/2019.

Abstract

The study is concerning with experimental study which discussed the effect of de Bono model students writing descriptive text. It took place at SMA yayasan pendidikan harapan bangsa kuala kabupaten langkat. The subjects were the eleventh year students with the population of 72 students. 72 students were chosen as the sample and group into experimental and control group. Each group consisted of 36 students. The experimental group was taught with de bono model while the control one was taught without De bono model. A writing test was used to collect the data on the students’ writing achievement. The data collected were analyzed by using t-test. The result of the data analysis showed that the t-observed was 7,24. It was higher that the value of t-table (tt) is 1,66 for 5% and 2,38 for 1%. This meant that the alternative hypothesis (Ha) was accepted. Abstract

The purposes of this study whether there is differentiate between students taught by using scramble games will be increasing students’ vocabulary or not. After collecting data by pre test, and post  test the result of data analysis showed that the first experimant gained t count = 3,21 >ttable = 2,39 with the significant was 5% and (t count = 3,21 >t table = 1,67) with the significant was 1%, and the second experiment showed that (t count = 3,52 >ttable =2,39) with the significant was 5% and (t count =3,52 >t table =1,67) with the significant was 1%. It meant that there was a significant increasing students’vocabulary at the eleventh grade of SMAN 4 Binjai. Based on the research above, the writer wants to take research at the second grade of Senior High School at SMAN 4 Binjai. The researcher focused his research in improving vocabulary ability through scrabble game.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mendeskripsikan proses penerapan model pembelajaran think pair share untuk  meningkatkan aktivitas siswa MTs Negeri Binjai dan mendeskripsikan hasil belajar bahasa inggris siswa sebelum dan sesudah penerapan model pembelajaran think pair share siswa MTs Negeri Binjai. Penelitian ini dilakukan dalam 2 (dua) siklus, yang terdiri dari 4 langkah yaitu perencanaan, tindakan, pengamatan dan refleksi. Tiap siklus terdiri dari 2 pertemuan, dengan indikator yang hendak dicapai yaitu kemampuan belajar siswa meningkat setelah dilakukannya sebuah tindakan. Berkaitan dengan hal tersebut, maka pada prosedur penelitian ini disajikan kegiatan pra tindakan dan kegiatan pelaksanaan tindakan. Kegiatan pelaksanaan tindakan memuat : Perencanaan tindakan, pelaksanaan tindakan, tahapan pengamatan, tahap refleksi. Rata-rata hasil belajar siswa pada tes siklus I sebesar 71,75, sedangkan rata-rata hasil belajar siswa pada tes siklus II adalah 88, dan terjadi peningkatan sebesar 16,25. Begitupun juga dengan ketuntasan belajar siswa yang mengalami peningkatan hingga 42,5%, dengan rincian ketuntasan belajar siswa pada siklus I adalah 37,5% dan ketuntasan belajar siswa pada siklus II adalah 80%. disimpulkan bahwa dengan meningkatnya aktivitas peneliti dalam menerapkan penggunaan media gambar dari siklus I ke siklus II dan kegiatan aktivitas siswa dari siklus 1 ke siklus II maka menjadikan kemampuan kosa kata Bahasa Inggris siswa mengalami peningkatan. Hal ini menunjukkan penerapan model pembelajaran Think Pair Share dapat meningkatkan kemampuan Bahasa Inggris siswa kelas kelas VIl MTs Negeri Binjai.

Abstract

This paper is purposed to find out the problems in speaking skills for English department student in STKIP Budidaya – Binjai. The speaking skill is the last position to cover up the four skills in English because speaking is the improving your ability to use four skills in English. Speaking needs some stimulation to attract the students speaks their ideas, opinion, or comments about something. The sample of the study is the third students in English department student, it is around 28 students. The data are collected through document by sound recording. The data analyzed by using the technique of analyze data. The result of the study is that it concludes that first question “What is the problem of speaking?” 10 students (35,71%) respond less of confident and 10 students (35,71%) respond less of vocabulary. The second question “How the ways do you practice your speaking skill?” 10 students (35,71%) respond watching movie. The third question “Do you agree that speaking is the most difficult to study comparing with another skills in English? And why?” 18 students (64,29%) respond yes, because it takes orally.

Abstract

This study aimed to find out whether using Fishbowl Strategy effects students’ reading skill of the 2019/2020 eleventh grade students At Muhammadiyah 18 Sunggal Senior High School. In this study, the writer used Fishbowl Strategy as the independent variable (X) and students’ reading skill as the dependent variable (Y), with the hypothesis: using Fishbowl Strategy significantly affects students’ reading skill of the 2019/2020 eleventh grade students of Muhammadiyah 18 Sunggal Senior High School. The population of this study was the 2019/2020 eleventh grade students of Muhammadiyah 18 Sunggal Senior High School which consisted of 76 students. The sample was taken by using cluster random sampling that consists of 76 students. Then, the sample was divided into two groups, the group taught by using Fishbowl Strategy was as the experimental group and the group taught without Fishbowl Strategy was as the control group. The writer used multiple choice tests as the instrument of collecting data. The data was analyzed by using t-test formula. Based on the data analysis, it was found that the value of t-observed (t0) was higher than the value of t-table, (tobserved = 4.75 > ttable = 1.666). Therefore, the hypothesis proposed by the writer was accepted. In the other words, using Fishbowl Strategy significantly affects the students’ reading skill of the 2019/2020 eleventh grade students At Muhammadiyah 18 Sunggal Senior High School.

Abstract

The objective of this research was to find out whether there was a significant effect of using REAP (Read, Encode, Annotate, Ponder) on students’ reading comprehension in analitycal exposition text of the eleventh grade of SMK Swasta Harapan Stabat in academic year 2019/2020. In this research, the researcher took 80 students as the sample. As the experimental class, the researcher used class XI.1 ADP which consisted of 40 students and for the control class, the researcher used class XI.4 ADP that consist of 40 students. The, the researcher gave pre-test and post-test to both classes.The researcher then statistically analyzed the data by using t-test. After analyzing the data, the researcher concluded that teaching analytical exposition text using REAP method was effective. As the fact, the result of t-test was 2,86 with df = 78. Because there was not df 78 in the t-table, so the researcher decided to use df 60 since it is closer to 78 than df 120.The table at df 60 showed that the value of t-table (  was 2,00 for 5% and 2,66 for 1%. Theoritically, the Alternative Hypothesis ( ) was accepted if the value of t-test was greater than the value of t-table ( > ( . The finding showed that t-test was greater than t-table (2,86 > 2,00 and 2,66). The researcher meant the hypothesis ( ) was accepted. It was stated that “There is a significant effect of using REAP method on students’ reading comprehension in analytical exposition text of the eleventh grade students of SMK Swasta Harapan Stabat in academic year 2019/2020” was accepted.

Abstract

The objective of the study was: “to find out whether there is any effect of using scramble paragraph method  on students’ ability in writing procedure text of the eigth grade studnet of SMP Negeri 2 Satu Atap Batang Serangan in academic year 2019/2020”. This research was  conducted at SMP Negeri 2 Satu Atap Jl. Batang Serangan-Kwala Sawit Kecamatan Batang Serangan Kabupaten Langkat. The population of this study was the whole students of eigth Year Students of SMP Negeri 2 Satu Atap Batang Serangan that consist of four class, namely VIII. With the total number of the students were 132 students. Where students of class VIII-2 totaling 32 people as an experimental class and class VIII-4 totaling 32 people as a control group. In this research method was the type of experimental research which is one type of research which aims to provide an overview of the influence of variables x and y variables. The average pretest control class was 56 and the posttest control group rose to 66. While the experimental class average value obtained for 64.7 pretest and posttest riding on the outcome of 76. This shows that the experimental class was better than the control class. Overall the data comes from a normal population and the entire data homogeneous manifold. Of the survey results revealed that to= 12.1 t criticism at 5% level obtained 1.69 and at level 1% obtained t = 1.31 then 1.31 <12.1> 1.69, then the hypothesis of significant meaning hypothesis proved to be true, namely "There is significant affect of using scramble paragraph method  on students ability in writing procedure text of the eigth grade studnet of SMP Negeri 2 Satu Atap Batang Serangan in academic year 2019/2020”.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan memperoleh gambaran apakah dengan penerapan metode pembelajaran kooperatif tipe teknik jigsaw dapat mempengaruhi dan meningkatkan minat,motivasi,dan kemampuan membaca dalam Reading Comprehension text narrative siswa kelas IX-2 MTS Negeri Binjai. Subjek penelitian ini adalah kelas IX-2 MTS Negeri Binjai yang berjumlah 40 orang siswa dengan 12 pria dan 28 wanita. Data yang diperoleh adalah dari hasil belajar siswa melalui tes kemampuan setelah proses  pembelajaran yang berbentuk tes uraian tertulis secara pribadi dan kegiatan aktivitas siswa dalam belajar melalui pengamatan observer dalam bentuk aspek-aspek penilaian yang berkaitan dengan tujuan pembelajaran membaca reading comprehension text narrative. Adapun pelaksanaan penelitian dilakukan dalam tiga siklus. Setiap siklus melalui tahapan perencanaan,pelaksanaan tindakan,observasi dan refleksi yang hasilnya dipaparkan dalam bentuk tabel dan uraian. Dari hasil analisis data pada siklus 1 aktivitas dan hasil belajar belum memuaskan,masih termasuk dalam kategori kurang mampu dengan tingkat pencapaian 56,21% dan hasil belajar dengn nilai 64,35 di kategorikan tidak tuntas.Pada siklus II sudah dimulai ada perubahan aktivitas belajar dengan kategori cukup tingkat pencapaian 63,73% dan hasil belajar dengan nilai rata-rata 63,07 dikategorikan tidak tuntas. Pada siklus III aktivitas belajar rata-rata sudah dikatakan mampu dengan kategori baik tingkat pencapaian 75,16% dan hasil belajar dapat dikatakan tuntas dengan rata-rata nilai 72,82. Dengan demikian dapat disimpulkan bahwa aktivitas belajar dan hasil belajar siswa dengan strategi atau teknik pembelajaran model jigsawdapat meningkatkan minat,motivasi,dan kemampuan belajar siswa membaca pemahaman pada text narrative.
