Abstract

Pendahuluan:banyakdokter gigi bertanya tentang perubahanyangterjadipada restorasi resinkomposit.

Abstract

Background: Oroantral fistula (OAF) is a pathological communication between the oral cavity and maxillary sinus which has its origin by multifactorial. The primary reason is the anatomic proximity of the root apices to the sinus floor or projection of the roots within the maxillary sinus. Aim: Describing a case about diagnosis and management of OAF by using buccal fat pad and buccal flap.Case: A 28-years-old male patient came to Dental Hospital of Hasanuddin University was diagnosed as OAF due to upper right molar tooth extraction with odontogenic chronic maxillary sinusitis and have been performed closing the fistula by using buccal fat pad and buccal flap. Conclusion: Patient with OAF and odontogenic chronic maxillary sinusitis have been treated by using buccal fat pad and buccal flap.

Abstract

Objective: To study the correlations of periodontal disease in the woman with pregnancy and low birth weigth infant (LBWI). Methods: Pubmed and Wiley online searches were conducted to identify articles published in dental journals from January 2013 to November 2018 focusing on pregnancy women and LBWI and its correlations with periodontal disease.Manual searchesof published full-text articles and related reviews were performed afterwards. Result: The initial database search produced 44 articles. A total 6 studies were selected for inclusion, with total 995 pregnancy women as subjects. All of the studies showed the associations of plaque index(PI),gingivalindex(GI),probingdepth(PD),bleedingonprobing(BOP),clinicalattachmentloss(CAL), gestational age (GA) and birth weight. Conclusion:Periodontaldiseaseinthepregnancy women is one risk factor for adverse pregnancy outcomes such as infant low birth weight.

This study aimed to examine dental caries and enamel defect in children aged 6-10 years in North Mamuju. This study used pathfinder pilot survey, the subjects were 235 people aged 6-10 years. Boys aged 6-7 years have higher average dft index than girls 4.89 dan 3.22. Based on category 6-7 years has higher dft index than category 8-10 years 6.45 dan 2.85. The enamel defect for category 6-7 years shows 1 child experienced demarcation enamel opacity and none had diffuse opacity enamel and hypoplasia enamel, while category 8-10 years shows 1 child has diffuse enamel opacity, 4 children experienced demarcation enamel opacity and 2 children have hypoplasia. It was concluded that children aged 6-7 years have average dft index is 3.9 (medium category) and the prevalence of dental caries is 79,57%. While the prevalence of enamel defect is 4.27% which was dominated by the demarcation enamel opacity in North Mamuju, West Sulawesi.

Abstract

Introduction: Rubber dam is the standard of the American Association of Endodontists (AAE) when dentist carrying out endodontic treatment. Dentists who do not use rubber dam indicates that they do not understand cross infection, the need to protect patients from aspiration or ingestion of instruments, the protection provided by the dentist from aerosols and the success rate that decreases when strict asepsis is not performed. In endodontic treatment a fast, simple and effective method of the rubber dam application has been developed. Conclusion: Using rubber dam improves the safety of patients and convenience for dentists during endodontic treatment so it can increase the prognosis in treated teeth.

Abstract

GIC is one of the dental materials that has unique properties so that it can be useful as a restoration material and luting material. It has properties such as the ability of this material to chemically bind dentine and enamel through ion exchange mechanisms, as well as the ability to carry out ion exchange with the remaining tooth structure. This leads to the release of fluorideandotherionsinthelongtime, sothismaterialcanpreventcaries.Sinceitsdevelopment,GIChasincreasinglybecome an important part of dental practice to provide care that can maintain tooth structure, remineralize, and maintain aesthetics. GIC nano resin modification is a new development of GIC material that gives natural ionomer glass restoration, enhances aesthetics, provides strength and resistance to wear. This paper is aimed to explain the benefits of combining nano particles into glass ionomer powder in terms of the aspects of antimicrobial activity, their biocompatibility aspects, mechanical and physical aspects, as well as their composition and manipulation.

Effective communication between doctors and patients is one of the most important competencies and must be mastered by doctors. Communication competence determines successful in helping to resolve patient health. Effective communication can reduce patient doubt, and increase patient compliance. When connected to each other, the doctor can understand and react better to changes in behavior and attention to patients at all times. Effective communication between doctors and patients is needed to obtain optimal results, in the form of health problems that can be resolved and the recovery of patients. Neurolingustic programming (NLP) is a process of change by intervening(programming)onprogramsinthemind(neurons)usinglanguage.MedialanguageisusedpredominantlyinNLP because the intervention process is essentially a process of communication between parts (parts) within us so that it is aligned with the direction of change we want. Because of the close connection between the mind and this language, the neuron and linguistic words are always written in a neurolinguistic way.

Abstract

Background:TheprevalenceofmalocclusioninIndonesiaisstillveryhigh,around80%ofIndonesianpopulation.Oneofthe causes of malocclusion is the bad habit of the oral cavity (non-nutritive sucking). The existence of bad habits that are usually done in children, especially at the age of 3 years can continue to the emergence of abnormalities such as the occurrence of malocclusion. Objective: To find out the relationship non-nutritive sucking towards malocclusion to children aged 3-5 years. Method: This study used analytical observational method with a cross sectional study design with 35 children samples had sedative habit. Data were analyzed using SPSS version 22.0. Result: The relationship with the correlation test between children who had a non-nutritive sucking habit aged 3-5 years with malocclusion severity showed significant results (p < 0.05). The correlation between the two is 0.496 which means that it is a moderate correlation. The results of the influence test with linear regression test between the duration of the assault and the occurrence of malocclusion show significant results having an effect (p < 0.05). Conclusion: There is a relationship between children aged 3–5 years who have a non-nutritive sucking habits to the occurrence of malocclusion. The longer the duration of pressing, the higher the severity of the malocclusion.

Retention appliances prevent the tendency of the teeth to return to the position before the orthodontic treatment. But apparently, in its use, the orthodontic retainer not only provides benefits but also can lead to any complications. Conclusion: There are some complications that can happened, such as retainer failure, periodontal impact especially gingival recession and bleeding during probing, demineralization on the enamel surface, and relapse or unexpected complication like rotation of the canines and different torque on the adjacent incisivus.
