Abstract

A boiler is a device that serves to heat water to become high pressure and high temperature steam, using heat from the combustion of fuel in the combustion chamber. The growth of the domestic boiler industry will develop with research on boiler technology. One of the parameters of the steam produced is temperature and pressure. It is necessary to have the right water level in the steam production process to get saturated steam which is in accordance with the theory, which is in the range of 150-374ËšC. The results of the research show that the optimal water level is the 4th condition (60%) because it can produce saturated steam according to the pressure target with a constant state in a continuous process using diesel and gas fuel.

Abstract

Coconut protein concentrate (blondo) can be used as a milk product because it has a high nutrient and mineral content, so it can be used as an affordable alternative to formula milk to treat malnutrition in Indonesia. Coconut protein concentrate (blondo) is packaged in powder form, so that the product lasts longer. Vacuum freeze dryer is suitable for drying coconut protein concentrate (blondo) which is susceptible to high temperatures to avoid denaturation of its protein content. Coconut protein concentrate (blondo) with mass variations of 40 and 50 gr was put into a freeze dryer to be dried with variations in vacuum pressure at 64, 67, 70 and 73 cmHg. The comparison of the quality of each product will be viewed from the moisture, protein and fat content. Based on the results of the analysis obtained, at a vacuum pressure of 73 cmHg with a mass of 50 gr has the best quality results with a moisture content of 4.99%, a protein content of 23.84% and a fat content of 10.90%. Thus, the greater the vacuum pressure, the better the quality of the product.

Abstract

A boiler is an equipment used to produce steam for various purposes. In this case, the boiler used also often has problems that cause less than optimal steam results. The obstacle that occurs is usually the ratio of air to fuel which causes the combustion results to be not optimal and imperfect so that it has an impact on the production and quality of the steam produced. One of the parameters of the steam produced is temperature and pressure. Both will relate to the enthalpy of steam as a measure to determine the value of the energy contained in the steam. Therefore, this research focuses on determining the most optimal and precise ratio of air to diesel fuel and gas so that maximum combustion results are obtained. The air-to-fuel ratio which is the variable for diesels are 123.67, 128.33, 133.00, 137.67, 142.33 and for gas are 29.16, 29.44, 29.71, 29.99 and 30.26. In the resulting data, the fourth of the air fuel ratio of diesel fuel which is more optimal and precise, which is 137.67 and 29.99 for gas with the resulting value of temperature is 151oC, pressure is 5 bar and the value of the saturated steam quality is 0.7993 ≈ 0.8.

Abstract

The potential for utilizing vegetable waste and water hyacinth to become organic liquid fertilizer is very good to develop, so can reduce dependence on the use of inorganic fertilizers. This liquid organic fertilizer also has the advantage to improving land quality, although the nutrient content of organic matter is generally lower than chemical fertilizers. However, organic matter in liquid fertilizers chemically increases soil buffering capacity against changes in pH, increases cation exchange capacity, decreases P excitation and acts as a reservoir for secondary and micro elements. In supporting the increase in liquid fertilizer production capacity, the manufacture of liquid fertilizer fermenter is a solution for this problem, where the liquid fertilizer fermenter is designed to have sufficient capacity for the pilot plan scale, which is 20 kg of raw material. The liquid fertilizer fermenter is designed to have temperature control that functions to maintain the optimal conditions for the fermentation process that takes place in decomposing organic raw materials into liquid fertilizer. In addition, there is also a biogas tube which functions to accommodate the methane and CO2 gas produced during the fermentation process, and a strainer which functions to separate liquid fertilizer from the remaining fermentation cellulose fibers. To determine the reliability of the fermenter tool that has been made, a lab for making liquid fertilizer was carried out by varying the addition of the activator EM-4 with variations of 100 ml, 150 ml, and 200 ml. The results showed that the addition of EM-4 activator with variations of 150 ml and 200 ml had met the SNI 2803: 2010 standards related to the NPK content of organic fertilizers. The test results on these variations were nitrogen elements of 0.4% and 0.45%, phosphorus elements were 0.18% and 0.19%, and potassium elements were 0.20% and 0.22%. From these results it can be concluded that the fermenter can be used to produce liquid fertilizer properly.

Abstract

Boilers are used to lower the temperature of the gas and diesel passed through the tubes, and to separate the fluid between the gas phase (water vapor) and the liquid phase (water). In the Boiler water feedback system, a controller is needed that is able to maintain the stability of the water level. The boiler used often has problems that cause less than optimal steam results. The problem that occurs is usually at the level of the water level with the fuel which causes the combustion results to be not optimal and has an impact on the steam produced to be not optimal. Therefore, this research will focus on determining the most appropriate water level with natural gas and diesel fuel so that maximum combustion results are obtained. The tube will also be installed vertically with a slope of 65ËšC with the aim of increasing heat transfer to the boiler and accelerating the evaporation of water molecules which are expected to produce more optimal steam. The parameters observed were temperature, pressure, and the temperature of the combustion flame, the aim was to determine the effect of air on fuel gas and diesel on the speed of temperature and pressure increase. The results of the research show that the optimal water level is the 5th condition (70%) because it can produce saturated steam according to the Efficiency target with a constant state in a continuous process using diesel and gas fuel.

Abstract

A renewable energy system to produce electricity from biogas feed by integrating the reforming process with an SOFC (Solid Oxide Fuel Cell) was evaluated through experimental and modeling study. The system performance was evaluated using the Aspen Plus process simulation tool and through biogas steam reforming experiments over 10 wt% Ni/MgO-Al2O3 and Ni/La2O3-Al2O3. Biogas steam reforming simulations were conducted for biogas feeds with CH4/CO2 ratios of 40/60, 50/50 and 60/40 at S/C ratios of 1.00–2.00 over a temperature range of 873–1123 K. The experimental data conclude that positive CO2 conversion was attained at temperatures higher than 1073 K. The results show that the proposed system can provide a viable approach to maximizing renewable methane resources for localized power generation

Abstract

Bioethanol is ethanol made from plants that contain starch, sugar and other cellulosic plants. The general methods used are hydrolysis and anaerobic fermentation methods. This review aims to compare the results of several studies on the manufacture of bioethanol from various raw materials and the treatment of variations in fermentation pH, type of yeast, and fermentation time. Based on the studies that have been carried out, it can be concluded that the first largest yield of bioethanol is found in a study conducted by Gebregergs et al. (2016) showing that bioethanol yield from banana peels of 45.088% ethanol is obtained at an acid concentration of 1.50% v/v. retention time 21.66 minutes. Then the second largest result was found in research according to Demiray et al. (2018) producing a percent ethanol of 44.9% v/v ± 55.58 g/L from pomegranate peel raw material. In a study according to Octria et al. (2019), from raw materials of pineapple peel, a percent yield of bioethanol was 30.15% w/w using hydrolysis and anaerobic fermentation methods through the enzyme Saccaromyces cerevisiae.

Abstract

One of the dominant plastic waste in the world is plastic made from HDPE (High Density Polyethylene). HDPE plastic is often found in the form of plastic bags, food containers, pipe fittings, baby milk bottles, and others. This plastic is not biodegradable, so it can disturb the environment. If destroyed by burning, plastic waste will cause air pollution and cause global warming. One of alternative to reduce the number of this plastic waste is converting HDPE plastic into liquid fuel with a catalytic cracking process. This cracking process uses a Gamma Alumina (γ-Al2O3) and Natural Zeolite catalyst to speed up the reaction to save energy consumption and improve the quality of the product result. The research was conducted by analyzing the effect of temperature variations ranging from 300, 350, 400, 450, and 500 oC. The result shown that the optimum temperature of pyrolysis High Density Polyethylene (HDPE) using Gamma Alumina (γ-Al2O3) catalyst is 400oC with a density 0.7609 gr/cm3, viscosity 1.7760 mm2/s, and flash point 28.8oC. The optimum temperature of pyrolysis using Natural Zeolite catalyst is 450oC with a density 0.7282 gr/cm3, viscosity 2.8164 mm2/s, and flash point 30.9oC. The liquid fuel product from pyrolysis of HDPE plastic waste then analyzed by the GC-MS method, and it can be conclude that the liquid fuel product was a mixture of gasoline (C7-C12) and diesel (C13-C20)

Abstract

The problem regarding the availability of raw materials for the timber industry encourages research on the use of lignocellulosic materials to develop, one of which is bagasse. The large amount of bagasse and plastic waste that is not utilized as waste in the community makes it possible to carry out further processing into particle board. Plastic waste that can be used as an adhesive in the manufacture of particle boards is high density polyethylene (HDPE) plastic. The method used was Hand lay-up, which was arranging the pattern of bagasse fibers randomly and bidirectional crossed, the ratio of adhesive and bagasse fibers 70:30, compressed by varying the pressing time of 15, 30, 45, 60, 75 minutes 150 0C and a pressure of 100 kgf/cm2. The best results from the manufacture of particle board under 60 minutes of pressing, the bidirectional arrangement pattern has better physical and mechanical properties than the random arrangement pattern. Showed the values of crossed bidirectional fiber moisture content is 4,898%, density 0.64 g/cm3, swelling 8.15% , water absorption 21.71% , MOR 483.11 kgf/cm2 and MOE 1740.95 kgf/cm2.

Abstract

The provision of breast milk (ASI) cannot optimally fulfill the increasing nutritional needs of infants after entering the age of 6 months, so it must be balanced with complementary feeding of breast milk (MP-ASI). One of the foods that contain lots of nutrients for babies is purple sweet potato. Purple sweet potato can be processed into a paste for raw materials for making biscuits as complementary food for ASI (MP-ASI). The aim of this research is to make biscuits according to SNI No. 01-7111.2-2005 using raw material for purple sweet potato paste. The concentration of bait used was 62.5%, 55.5% and 50%. Purple sweet potato paste is made using a rotary evaporator. The results showed that the optimum operating conditions for the rotary evaporator in producing the paste were at a feed concentration of 55.5%, the viscosity, density and water content values obtained were 311.4176 mPa.s, 1.0885 gr / mL and 57.7578%. The paste produced from the rotary evaporator is then used to make purple sweet potato biscuits. The analysis showed that the carbohydrate, protein, fat and water content were 39.30%, 8.42%, 20.35% and 16.05%. The purple sweet potato biscuits that were produced were close to SNI No. 01-7111.2-2005.
