Abstract

Abstract

Analog Switch-Off (ASO) is a process of transition from analog broadcasts system to digital broadcasts system. In the process towards Analog Switch-Off (ASO), it is impossible to be implemented immediately, but it has to be begun by a socialization process from the Ministry of Communication and Information, as the institution in charge of this, to all television industries and the public as users. This is the case that this study tries to examine, namely finding out the communication strategy used by the Ministry of Communication and Information and the internal and external factors that support the implementation communication strategy used by Ministry of Communication and Information. Researchers use the constructivism paradigm, qualitative descriptive method and Rogers' diffusion of innovation theory to analyze. This study produces findings based on research objectives, including the Ministry of Communication and Information socializing Analog Switch-Off (ASO) through various media including television and social media and television has a greater impact. The internal factors include platforms created by the Ministry of Communication and Information to socialize Analog Switch-Off (ASO). The external factor is the regulation of laws governing the implementation of Analog Switch-off (ASO) to stop analog broadcasts so that the migration to digital broadcasts is more convincing to be fully implemented.

Abstract

This study is aimed to examine the implementation of an artificial intelligence (AI)-based recruitment system at the Human Resources Directorate of Universitas Indonesia, focusing on the selection of structural officers (section and subsection heads). Utilizing simple AI tools such as Google Gemini and Google Apps Script, the initiative aimed to enhance recruitment efficiency and objectivity. This study uses descriptive qualitative. The findings show that AI significantly improved the speed and accuracy of candidate screening, reduced administrative workload, and minimized unconscious bias thereby strengthening meritocracy. Furthermore, the role of HR professionals evolved from administrative functions to more analytical and strategic tasks. The success of this transformation is attributed to the application of a strong human-in-the-loop principle, ensuring that AI functions as a decision-support tool, with final decisions remaining under human authority. Challenges related to data format, algorithmic limitations, ethical concerns, and organizational resistance were effectively mitigated through standardized protocols, data protection policies, and change management strategies. The study also highlights key institutional innovations, including the formalization of standard operating procedures (SOPs), development of AI ethics guidelines, and a roadmap for wider AI adoption in HR functions. This case provides a replicable model for responsible and impactful use of AI in public sector HR management.

Abstract

The Presidential Election (Pilpres) in 2024 is an essential political event and is a highly anticipated moment for the Indonesian people in determining the country's leader for the next five years. From the number of voters recorded in the Permanent Voter List (DPT), it is estimated that in the 2024 election, the vote will be dominated by those from the millennial and Z generations (17-43 years old). In the technology-based era, digital political campaigns are the main focus in communicating with voters and influencing their decisions. This study aims to analyze the meaning of novice voters and provide an overview of how they respond to the Prabowo-Gibran pair's digital campaign in the context of the 2024 Presidential Election through a reception analysis method. This research uses an interpretive paradigm through a qualitative approach with reception theory by Stuart Hall. Data were obtained through observation, interviews with novice voters and documentation. The research shows that there is a variation in the meaning of novice voters in the digital campaign. Most novice voters responded positively (dominant hegemonic position), finding digital campaigns effective in shaping positive perceptions and influencing political views. However, there are also novice voters who accept some of the ideology but reject its implementation (negotiated position), and who reject the overall campaign message (oppositional position).

Abstract

This study aims to explore and explain the editorial policies of the PPID BRIN as an educational medium related to research and innovation. The theory used is the gatekeeping theory or shoemaker theory. This theory explains that the role of editors or gatekeepers is very important in disseminating information. The research method used is a qualitative descriptive method. Data collection techniques used include observation, in-depth interviews, and documentation. The paradigm used in this study is the constructivism paradigm. The researcher used source triangulation as a way of collecting data. The subjects in this study were employees at PPID BRIN, especially the editorial team that had been determined by the researcher based on established criteria. The results of the study indicate that factors in the gatekeeping theory influence the process of information dissemination. PPID BRIN always implements an unwritten editorial policy so that information conveyed to the public can be conveyed properly and correctly. The news delivered on the PPID BRIN website is a reflection of PPID BRIN's organizational culture which prioritizes openness, transparency, and accountability in disseminating public information in the realm of research and innovation. Furthermore, as an online public relations tool, the most important requirement is an awareness of the importance of public services for adequate information and the accuracy of which can be accounted for.

Abstract

This study analyzes the dynamics of political debates on social media following the 2024 Presidential Election, focusing on the group identities of “anak abah” and “warga 58%” through a virtual ethnography approach. The findings highlight four key points. First, identity politics demonstrates a stronger and more enduring bond than the electoral moment itself, as group identities are constructed through symbols, language, and emotional experiences that persist beyond the political event. Second, collective emotions such as anger and pride do not dissipate after the campaign; instead, they continue to reinforce solidarity through ongoing digital interactions. Third, social media algorithms intensify the persistence of these conflicts by creating spaces that circulate similar content and prolong cycles of debate. Fourth, this phenomenon reflects symbolic polarization, in which labels such as “anak abah” and “warga 58%” function as markers of political identity that extend beyond the presidential election in which they originated. Thus, social media becomes a stage for reinterpreting political reality, where citizens’ real-world choices are transformed into concise, symbolic, and emotionally charged digital narratives.

Abstract

Child sexual abuse remains a serious social issue in Indonesia, yet its communicative dimension is still rarely discussed in communication studies. This study examines how child survivors negotiate disclosure processes within urban family contexts using Communication Privacy Management Theory. A qualitative case study approach was employed involving survivors, family members, psychologists, social workers, and institutional actors in Bekasi City, Indonesia. Data were collected through in-depth interviews, observations, focus group discussions, and document analysis. The findings reveal that disclosure occurs gradually through selective communication, trust testing, and partial openness shaped by emotional safety and family relationships. Decisions to disclose or conceal information are strongly influenced by power relations, economic dependency, cultural stigma, and fear of social judgment. The study also identifies information boundary turbulence within family and institutional responses, including information leakage, repeated storytelling, and weakened survivor trust. These findings highlight that child protection requires trauma-informed communication, confidentiality management, and stronger interinstitutional coordination to create safer communication environments for child survivors in urban protection systems.

Abstract

Social inequality in the coastal community of Tanjungmas Village, North Semarang, remains a significant issue encompassing environmental, economic, social, educational, and health aspects, including cases of domestic and gender-based violence. In response to these challenges, corporations are expected to implement social responsibility programs that go beyond financial objectives and address community needs. This study aims to analyze the implementation of a Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI)-based Community Engagement program at the Integrated Terminal of PT Pertamina Patra Niaga and examine community perceptions of the program. This research employed a qualitative case study approach, using in-depth interviews with community leaders, volunteers, government representatives, and company officers, as well as document analysis. The findings indicate that the Lawang Cemoro program applies DEI principles by involving diverse community groups, particularly vulnerable populations, and improving access to social and economic services. Community Engagement is reflected in three key aspects: content (capacity-building and rights-based training programs), sources (collaboration among community members, local government, and the company), and process (program planning, publication through mass media and social media, implementation of community development programs, suistainability reporting). The program also contributes to the achievement of Sustainable Development Goals. This study highlights the importance of integrating Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion principles into Community Engagement strategies to foster inclusive and sustainable community empowerment.

Abstract

This study examines how generation z interprets the representation of "relationship goals" content on the TikTok platform. TikTok has become an influential space for digital visualization, shaping new social standards and romantic ideals among young users. Using Stuart Hall's Reception Analysis approach and Leon Festinger's Social Comparison Theory, this research explores the dynamic encoding-decoding process when gen z users interact with aesthetic romance content. In-depth interviews and digital participant observations were conducted over three months with six active female gen z TikTok users who are in relationships. The results indicate that visual exposure to idealized relationships prompts social comparison mechanisms, shifting real-world expectations and relationship satisfaction. The interpretation patterns reveal a dominant-hegemonic alignment where users internalize these aesthetic benchmarks as the normative blueprint for modern romance, while also highlighting the psychological pressures of conforming to digital perfection.

Abstract

This study examines influencer authenticity and parasocial relationship as predictors of trust in TikTok influencers among Generation Z users in the Special Region of Yogyakarta. Trust is treated as an audience judgment directed at the influencer as a communication source rather than merely as brand trust or purchase intention. A cross-sectional online survey involved 492 eligible respondents aged 18–26 years. To strengthen instrument validation, the sample was randomly divided into a calibration subsample (n = 246) and a validation subsample (n = 246). The questionnaire used a five-point Likert scale and 15 core indicators. In the calibration subsample, all retained items showed corrected item–total correlations above 0.40. In the validation subsample, a three-factor confirmatory model showed good fit (CFI = 0.977; TLI = 0.972; RMSEA = 0.037). Multiple regression with HC3 heteroskedasticity-consistent standard errors indicated that authenticity (β = 0.369; p < 0.001) and parasocial relationship (β = 0.441; p < 0.001) were positively associated with trust. The model explained 55.2% of the variance in trust. Commonality analysis showed unique contributions of 7.3% for authenticity and 10.4% for parasocial relationship, while 37.5% was explained jointly. A 5,000-resample bootstrap indicated that the difference between standardized coefficients was not statistically reliable. Trust in TikTok influencers is therefore better understood as being associated with intertwined evaluative and relational processes rather than with the dominance of a single predictor.
