Abstract

Vocational high school students majoring in engineering, who are the successors to technology developers in society, need hard skills to enter the workforce. However, the students of SMK Negeri 2 Bangkalan have not received knowledge about embedded systems. In supporting this need, Master in Applied Informatics and Computer Engineering Program at Politeknik Elektronika Negeri Surabaya held a community service program by holding practice-based training on Arduino Uno-based embedded systems. This program is aimed at vocational high school students so that they can improve their abilities and skills in hardware programming and embedded. The method used in this activity is workshop-based training. The workshop includes a basic explanation of recognizing Arduino and embedded systems, a simple Arduino circuit practicum, and questions and answers between tutors and trainees. The results achieved from this activity are indicated by the results of the training evaluation questionnaire. In general, the training material is considered to be in accordance with the need to add insight, knowledge, skills, and expertise. In addition, the practice-based training on Arduino Uno-based embedded systems has provided benefits for students to use technology in their daily lives.

Abstract

Diversity in educational settings exposes all involved actors to issues related to inherent (e.g. age, gender) and acquired diversity (e.g., education, marital status). This 400-hour program is aimed at building diversity awareness for high school teachers indicated by a good comprehension of diversity issues, create favorable learning atmosphere, and augmenting learning motivation.  Mixing asynchronous and synchronous techniques, activities are carried out through Zoom lectures, group discussions, role play, and project assignments. At the end of the training program, participants are expected to complete an individual project within three weeks’ time. A baseline survey was conducted as well as post-tests, questionnaires, and personal journals that would allow a comprehensive view of the program’s performance. Based on the evaluations, the program has contributed to a favorable learning atmosphere and learning motivation. Furthermore, participants’ diversity awareness was developed along with their attitude and behavioral change in dealing with school diversity. A short and moderate learning effect was acquired. It is our recommendation that the school management sustains the learning effect by promoting a school climate of openness, tolerance, and respect.

Abstract

Sukatani Village, Compreng Sub-District, Subang District in carrying out village administration services still uses Microsoft Word in making village correspondence then the letter number is recorded in the village ledger and the Sukatani village population data is still stored in excel form. The problem is that typos often occur, it takes a long time to search for correspondence files and cannot present population data accurately. This problem can be overcome by using a village administration management system that will be used in Sukatani village. The system was developed using the OpenSID framework which is licensed and free to use and developed for village purposes. In order for the village apparatus to easily use the village administration management system, training and assistance is needed. The training and mentoring is carried out by dividing into two groups and each group is accompanied by a trainer so that the training for village officials can run smoothly and well. The result of this service activity is that the village administration management application and village apparatus can use the application well so that the application can be used continuously to improve village administration services to Sukatani villagers.

Abstract

Statistical quality control using control charts is an easy-to-implement method to improve quality. Improvements in the quality of products and services are continuously implemented to meet consumer needs. Products and services must maintain the desired quality with as few defects as possible. Variations in products and services are naturally created to meet needs. Unintentional variation, but the cause can be found. Control charts can be used to monitor production; particularly serving as an early warning index of processes that are potentially out of control. To keep production under control, different control charts are prepared for different cases, created by combining upper and lower control limits. Points plotted on a graph can reveal certain patterns, which in turn allow the user to get specific information. Information on water production is very important in PDAM because water is the main product that meets the needs for the survival of humans, animals, plants, and various other needs. The supply of clean water that meets the requirements of quality standards is always pursued by PDAM Surya Sembada Surabaya. The Statistical control chart training will increase productivity and improve water quality, not only in terms of chemical, physical and biological quality. Good water quality will add value to the trust and community of PDAM.

Abstract

Village Information System (SID) is an implementation of e-government by the village government. The right of village communities to get real-time information can be hampered due to the skills and abilities of human resources and out-of-date information. The activity is focused on updating Village data and facilities through survey primary data collection. The results of the survey are up-to-date data, are integrated, and can be accessed online. The process of entering data into the SID will be continued by the Village Government Officials who manage the SID, for this reason, there is a need for a special briefing for Village Government Officials in a training activity in updating data on village facilities and infrastructure. Workshops in the form of training, practice and question and answer were carried out with feedback in the form of questionnaires before and after the workshop to assess the success of the program. The survey data that is input to the SID includes health facilities, religious facilities, agriculture, animal husbandry, plantations, educational facilities, village tourism potential, and potential disasters along with their evacuation points. This updated data is expected to be a reference for compiling the Teratak Village Development and workshop activities have been able to improve the ability of village government.
