Abstract

The development of information and communication technology (ICT) has had a significant impact on education, including early childhood education (PAUD). In today’s digital era, technology-based learning media such as video are effective in capturing children’s attention and helping them understand material in a fun, visual, and accessible way. However, the use of technology at the PAUD level still faces challenges, particularly limited infrastructure and teachers’ low digital skills in areas such as graphic design and video editing. This community service activity aimed to improve PAUD teachers’ competence in utilizing technology through training on creating video-based learning media using the Canva platform. The main problem identified was the limited use of digital media in the learning process, largely due to a lack of training and low digital literacy among teachers. A five-day intensive training was conducted with 10 teachers from Hangtuah Hamadi Kindergarten and Kartika VI-2 Persit Entrop Kindergarten in Jayapura City. The training materials included an introduction to Canva Edu, video creation practice, presentations, and classroom implementation. Evaluation results showed the training was effective, demonstrated by active participation and the production of videos suited to early childhood characteristics. This activity fostered teacher innovation and contributed to the digital transformation of early childhood education.

Abstract

Improving the quality of education in Indonesia requires paying early attention to students' potential, particularly recognizing their talents, interests, and personality traits. The Community Service Team aimed to provide sixth-grade students at Students of SDN X in West Java with psychological assessments to gain a comprehensive understanding of their intelligence, interests, and personalities. The activity was conducted in collaboration with the Faculty of Psychology at Universitas Tarumanagara and the community service team. This research uses three methods: (1) Socialization and coordination; (2) Assessment; and (3) Collecting data and analyzing quantitatively. Fifty students participated in the assessment, which used the CPM, SDS Holland, and ENS_48 measurement tools. The results indicated that 76 percent of the students had a high level of intelligence. The most dominant interest areas were artistic (21%), enterprising (21%), investigative (20%), and social (17%). The most prominent personality traits were agreeableness (34 percent), extraversion (24%), and conscientiousness (20%). These results offer valuable insights to teachers and parents for designing learning strategies that cater to students' potential.

Abstract

This community service program addressed the limited capacity of early childhood education (PAUD) teachers to conduct systematic and contextual initial literacy assessments. The program aimed to improve teacher competence through practice-based training and mentoring supported by digital application technology. It was implemented at PAUD Kampung Emas, Krapyak, Sleman, Yogyakarta, involving 20 PAUD institutions and 33 teachers, and was conducted in three stages: needs identification, training, and evaluation. The results showed an increase in teachers’ assessment comprehension scores from 58 to 88 percent, with monitoring indicating that 46.7 percent of teachers were able to independently implement the assessment while others still required technical assistance. Overall, the program improved assessment quality and promoted data-based learning practices, demonstrated strong potential for sustainable replication with contextual adjustments, and supported cross-institutional collaboration to enhance the quality of early childhood education in Indonesia. Furthermore, the success of this initiative demonstrates that integrated training and technological support effectively shift teacher paradigms, repositioning assessment as a vital tool for instructional development rather than a mere administrative obligation.

Abstract

This community engagement program was implemented to enhance critical and argumentative thinking skills through debate strategies at SMA SAIM Surabaya. The background of this initiative stems from the limited practice of structured debates and the lack of systematic integration of critical thinking in daily classroom activities. The primary objective was to enhance the capacity of both teachers and students to incorporate debate as a cross-curricular teaching method, applicable not only in language subjects but also in science, social studies, and physical education. The program was carried out through intensive training, direct practice via microteaching, reflection, and classroom mentoring. Evaluation was conducted both formatively and summatively, utilising daily reflections, logbooks, observations, and group discussions. The results showed a significant increase in teachers’ understanding of debate as a pedagogical strategy, their ability to design debate-based lesson scenarios, and the confidence of both teachers and students to engage in constructive argumentation. Over 90% of participating teachers reported an improvement in competence and the successful integration of debate into lesson planning. The program also produced training modules, assessment rubrics, and led to the establishment of a teacher learning community to support the sustainable integration of debate-based innovation in the school.

Abstract

Community empowerment plays an important role in strengthening local economic resilience, particularly in coastal areas where fisheries are the main livelihood. In Konang Village, Lamongan, abundant aquaculture production, especially milkfish and tilapia, often faces declining prices during peak harvest seasons, leading to economic vulnerability. To address this issue, a Community Partnership Program (PKM) was implemented with the objective of enhancing the capacity of the Pertiwi Sukses Bersama community group through fish cracker processing technology. The program applied a participatory and collaborative approach, consisting of five stages: socialization, training and capacity building, technology application, mentoring and evaluation, and sustainability planning. Training modules included fish cracker production, food safety and legality (Business Identification Number/NIB, PIRT, and halal certification), as well as digital marketing using e-commerce platforms. The results showed significant improvement in participants’ knowledge and skills, reflected in post-test scores that increased from 44 to 82 on average. The group successfully acquired an NIB, initiated the process of halal and PIRT certification, and practiced digital marketing strategies. In addition, the community product was branded as “Kerupuk Ikan Bengawan” to strengthen identity and competitiveness. These achievements demonstrate that structured empowerment programs can foster sustainable fisheries-based enterprises, support the blue economy, and contribute to rural economic resilience.

Abstract

Education plays a central role in shaping individual character and skills, especially amid the increasingly complex challenges of globalization. Meanwhile, in the context of Social Studies learning at the Junior High School level, the current approach still prioritizes memorization and data mastery without being balanced by the development of critical and analytical thinking skills. The deep learning approach has emerged as a solution to improve the quality of IPS education. This approach encourages students to understand concepts in depth and contextualize them with real-life situations. Teachers play a key role in the successful implementation of deep learning in IPS education, so they must understand what deep learning is and how to apply it. This community service program was organized to enhance the understanding and practical skills of Social Studies teachers at the Junior High School level in Klaten Regency. The method used in this program is a participatory and collaborative approach involving the Social Studies Teacher Forum (MGMP) through workshops and hands-on training. The results of this activity show an increase in teachers' understanding of the deep learning concept and their ability to design IPS learning at the SMP level using a deep learning approach.

Abstract

This community service activity aims to increase the appeal of the Kecak Dance performance at Pura Luhur Uluwatu by introducing an innovative digital storyline on the website and utilizing QR codes. This activity was carried out in collaboration with Sekaa Karang Boma as the manager and administrator of the Kecak Dance performance at Pura Luhur Uluwatu as a partner. The implementation method is described through a qualitative descriptive approach that includes eight stages of activities, namely socialization and identification of partner needs, website design and draft presentation, website management and digital marketing training, content development and documentation assistance, to evaluation and delivery of the final product. The QR code directs tourists to the website, allowing them to access information and storylines conveniently via their mobile devices. Socialization and content management training were also provided to Sekaa Karang Boma to ensure the sustainability of this digital media. The evaluation results show that this innovation was positively received by managers and tourists, with an average rating of 4.193 (Good). These findings confirm that the implementation of the community service program was able to improve the effectiveness of promotion and management of digital-based services and contribute to the sustainable strengthening of partner capacity.

Abstract

This community service program was implemented to encourage homemakers in the Mandosi Permai Housing Complex, Bekasi, to open sustainable home-based bakery businesses. Using participatory design, 22 participants attended a one-day seminar, workshop, and evaluation meeting. The seminar focused on developing a business model that aligns with women's dual roles of domestic and entrepreneurial activities (mompreneurs), while the workshop provided interactive sessions on bread-making practices and cost monitoring. Results indicated that participants improved their ability to identify business model components, gained interest and practical skills in bread-making, and built confidence in managing a micro-enterprise. The program's participatory design helped convey ownership of the entrepreneurial presentation and maintain a core value proposition consistent with consumer demands for freshness, taste, and value. The program and its research agenda illustrate how academic-community partnerships can connect theory and practice in ways that advance women's economic empowerment and family well-being. Implications and future directions for the expansion and sustainability of such programs are discussed.
