Abstract

Household food security among fishing communities is important to study because this group is vulnerable to income fluctuations and limited economic access. An analysis of socio-economic factors is needed to understand the causes and levels of food security among traditional fishers in coastal areas. Data were collected through a survey of 78 lift-net fishing households. The study shows that most lift-net fishing households in Muara Nibung Village are food insecure. Partially, income significantly affects the level of household food security, while simultaneously, factors such as income, expenditure, family size, and mother's education influence the food security level of fishing households.

Abstract

Abstract The short story Macan by Seno Gumira Ajidarma presents a sharp critique of human behavior that often disrupts environmental balance and disregards harmonious relationships with nature. This study aims to analyze the conflict between humans and nature depicted in the short story through an ecocritical approach. The primary focus of the research is on human dominance over nature, criticism of environmentally destructive behavior, and its impact on raising awareness and changing societal attitudes toward human-environment relationships. A descriptive-qualitative method is employed to explore representations of human-nature conflict, human dominance, and the symbolism contained in the story. Text analysis and literature review reveal how Macan portrays injustice, indifference, and human domination over the environment, both through physical conflicts such as wildlife hunting and symbolic elements reflecting nature’s attempts to maintain balance. The ecocritical critique in this short story highlights the negative impacts of human activities on the environment, the importance of moral reflection, and the need for ecological responsibility. This study not only enriches ecocritical literary studies in Indonesia but also encourages societal behavioral change toward more environmentally friendly practices through the reflections presented in this literary work. Keywords: Macan, Ecocritics, Human, Nature, Crisis Abstrak Cerita pendek Macan karya Seno Gumira Ajidarma menyajikan kritik tajam terhadap perilaku manusia yang kerap merusak keseimbangan lingkungan dan mengabaikan hubungan harmonis dengan alam. Abstract

This study investigates the application of food commodity inspection techniques in ensuring safe food consumption within the hospitality industry in Delta State, Nigeria. With the growing demand for hotel, restaurant, and catering services, food safety has emerged as a critical concern due to its direct impact on public health and business reputation. The study specifically examines key stages of the food supply chain, including sourcing, procurement, storage, handling, and service, to assess how inspection practices mitigate contamination risks. Data were collected from 200 respondents, comprising hospitality workers, regulatory officials, and consumers, using questionnaires and interviews, and analyzed through descriptive statistical and qualitative methods. Findings reveal that while a majority of establishments procure food from certified suppliers and implement proper storage and handling practices, gaps remain in informal sourcing, inconsistent adherence to hygiene standards, and limited staff training. The study further highlights the importance of systematic inspection methods, adherence to Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Points (HACCP) guidelines, and modern traceability systems in promoting food safety. Based on the results, recommendations are made for strengthening supplier verification, enhancing storage and handling practices, providing continuous staff training, and leveraging cost-effective technological solutions. Overall, the study underscores that robust food commodity inspection practices are essential for safeguarding consumer health and sustaining operational excellence in the hospitality sector.

Abstract

Poverty remains a multidimensional challenge in Indonesia, particularly in rural areas characterized by limited access to education, health services, and economic opportunities. The Program Keluarga Harapan (PKH), a conditional cash transfer program introduced by the Indonesian government, aims to alleviate poverty and improve human capital among low-income households. However, studies on PKH have largely focused on general outcomes, while limited attention has been given to how local implementation dynamics shape program effectiveness in specific rural contexts. This study examines the effectiveness of PKH implementation in poverty alleviation in Krangkeng Indramayu. This research employed a qualitative case study approach using in-depth interviews, observation, and documentation. Informants included beneficiary households, program coordinators, and PKH facilitators. The findings indicate that PKH implementation has been effective in reducing household expenditure burdens, improving access to education and health services, and encouraging behavioral changes among beneficiaries. Program effectiveness is supported by facilitator competence, local government support, and beneficiary participation. This study highlights the importance of local governance and community-based implementation in shaping PKH effectiveness and proposes strengthening facilitator capacity, improving data accuracy, and enhancing economic empowerment initiatives to improve long-term poverty alleviation outcomes.
