Abstract

This study tries to use the Spatial concept by analyzing the observed spatial patterns and spatial autocorrelation, as well as evaluating the spatial modeling of each region in 60 districts/cities in five Southern Sumatra Provinces. This research used Geoda. Geoda will then provide a spatial description of the condition of the percentage of GRDP presented in the Moran I statistics, LISA and LISA Clusterd Map in 2015-2019. The results of this study are expected to show the spatial relationship of GRDP between 60 regencies/cities in five provinces in Sumbagsel and be able to indicate how the spatial relationship is in the clustered pattern of regions with the same characteristics. Furthermore, the LISA Cluster map is expected to describe the grouping of GRDP in 11 regions. The SAR model was chosen to analyze cases of spatial linkage. This study will further provide an economic analysis of how the percentage of the population and GRDP influence, In addition, this study will examine how the influence of the Development Index and poverty on GRDP. Therefore, this research will be one of the studies that has the latest updates because it uses two approaches; spatial approach and economic approach presented in the results of the discussion and discussion.

Abstract

Corona Virus Disease 2019 (Covid-19) entering Indonesia has an impact on restricted population mobility. In addition, Pembatasan Sosial Berskala Besar Policy (PSBB) affects the national economy, especially Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs). It has a spillover effect in the lowest areas, including the Tulang Bawang Regency. This study uses a survey method with closed and open questions with respondents as many as 100 MSMEs in Tulang Bawang Regency to determine the impact of Covid-19 and how MSME strategies can overcome it. The results show that overall, MSMEs experience an adverse effect, but there are several types of MSMEs that continue to experience an increase. In addition, some MSMEs can adjust their business strategies through marketing changes through online sales, but MSME actors with low levels of education have difficulty.

Abstract

This study will discuss the influence of the influx of foreign investment and Chinese foreign workers on the Indonesian economy, where cooperation between the two countries uses a turnkey project scheme. This study uses secondary data with time-series data types and is sourced from the Central Statistics Agency, the Investment Coordinating Board, and the Ministry of Manpower for the 2010-2019 period. The method used in this research is quantitative and statistical descriptive using multiple linear regression or OLS (Ordinary Least Square). The study results show a positive influence of Chinese foreign investment on the Indonesian economy and Chinese foreign workers who positively impact the Indonesian economy. Although both are below 1 percent, the percentage of Chinese foreign workers' influence on the Indonesian economy is greater than that of Chinese foreign investment.

Abstract

The role of the sustainable development process has an impact on the fulfillment of access to sanitation and basic services. One of the goals of sustainable development is access to clean water which must start from the household scale. This study aims to analyze the effect of access to water sources and improved sanitation on the health (diarrhea and height for age) of children aged zero and seven years, using the logit and difference-in-difference (DiD) models. This study uses secondary data with various relevant and primary sources that can explain related phenomena. The results show that children in rural areas who access improved sanitation have better height than children who access unimproved sanitation. Meanwhile, the urban sample shows that children who access improved water sources have a lower height than children who access unimproved water sources. This indicates that the quality of clean water sources will determine the level of stunting/availability of children's height in the household.

Abstract

In the 2016-2021 RPJMD, West Sumatra’s government made tourism as one of its development priorities. The rapid development of tourism-related industries in West Sumatra is not in line with the declining economic growth every year. Then, in 2020, the COVID-19 pandemic caused a slump in various industries, especially those related to tourism. Therefore, researchers will identify the role of the tourism-related industry on the economy in West Sumatra and the impact of the decline in tourism-related industry performance due to the COVID-19 pandemic on the West Sumatra economy. This study uses input-output table analysis including linkage analysis, multiplier analysis, and impact simulation analysis. Based on the research results, the land transportation industry, air transportation, company services, and other services are the leading industries in tourism-related industries. Then, the tourism-related industry in West Sumatra is pro-growth and pro-poor which means the tourism-related industry has the ability to increase economic growth and the welfare of the people in West Sumatra. Through impact simulations, the decline in tourism-related industry performance due to the COVID-19 pandemic has resulted in a decrease in total output, a decrease in household income, and a decrease in job opportunities in West Sumatra.

Abstract

National salt needs are increasing along with population growth and industrial development. The significant demand for salt from various industrial use led to different standardization of salt products produced. Madura Island is one of the salt-producing centers. But high salt production of Madura is not followed by the welfare of salt farmers. Therefore, a scientific study is needed to be related to the relationship of salt imports to national salt prices and the poverty of salt farmers, especially on Madura Island. The results show that salt imports do not significantly correlate with domestic salt prices. The Increasing volume of salt imports (% tons) can trigger a decrease in the price of raw material salt in Indonesia in the next two years. This means that increasing the import of salt can reduce or damage the price of raw material salt in the future or incoming year. Salt Exchange Rate (SER) is used to measure the well-being of salt farmers. The results obtained show a negative relationship between SER and the number of salt imports. There is a negative relationship between the exchange rate of salt farmers and the number of salt imports. This shows that the higher the number of salt imports, the consistently smaller value of SER, or the higher amount of salt imports, the salt farmers will be in deficit.

abroad and domestically. Incoming investment is affected by a country's daytime strength. Widespread investment encourages more competition and corrupt practices as many investors want to reduce the bureaucracy they face. However, in the investment market a high level of corruption also makes a country's economy unattractive. This study aims to analyze the effect of a country's competitiveness on the entry of Foreign Direct Investment in ASEAN. The variables used in this study are foreign investment, competitiveness, Corruption Perception Index, and political stability. The analytical method used is the Random Effect Model. This shows that state power is able to encourage direct foreign investment in a positive direction, as well as the Corruption Perception Index where the handling of the level of corruption will encourage the entry of Foreign Direct Investment. Political stability in this study does not have a significant effect, meaning that political shocks do not interfere with the entry of Foreign Direct Investment in ASEAN in the period 2010 to 2020.
