Abstract

This study aims to identify and compare the effect of interventional swallowing exercises on swallowing ability in stroke patients who experience dysphagia. The method used is a quantitative method with a one-group pre-test-post-test approach. Respondents in this study were stroke patients who underwent moderate category of dysphagia, totaling 35 respondents. Initial data collection was started using the Nursing Bedside Swallowing Screening dysphagia assessment sheet. Then, the researcher used the Mann Assessment of Swallowing Ability (MASA) to assess the patient's swallowing ability. The results showed a significant difference (p<0.05) in the swallowing capacity of the respondents before and after the swallowing training intervention. The conclusion of this study, swallowing exercises are effective in improving the swallowing ability of stroke patients who experience dysphagia. Keywords: Dysphagia, Swallowing Ability, Stroke

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the effectiveness of Mindfulness-Based Cognitive Therapy (MBCT) in reducing anxiety and depression disorders in adults. The method used is a systematic review. The results of this study indicate that the MBCT intervention can reduce symptoms of anxiety and depression in adult patients. Effective MBCT intervention is carried out once a week for eight sessions, and each session is carried out for 2 hours under the guidance of a therapist. MBCT interventions consist of providing patients health education about anxiety symptoms, mindfulness training and meditation exercises by therapists, and independent activities at home for 15-30 minutes according to guidelines. This study concludes that Mindfulness-Based Cognitive Therapy (MBCT) has been proven effective in reducing anxiety and depression disorders in adults. Therefore, giving non-pharmacological therapy such as MBCT also has benefits besides pharmacological treatment. Abstract

This study aims to look at the relationship between behavioral factors and home environmental factors in tuberculosis cases in the city of Surabaya. The method used in this study was a cross-sectional study with 54 patients. The chi-square analysis was performed to see the relationship between behavioral factors and the home environment and tuberculosis cases. The results showed that there was a significant relationship between temperature (p value=0.000), humidity (p value=0.000), ventilation (p value=0.000), type of floor (p value=0.030), and density (p value=0.030) with TB case. Meanwhile, the lighting variable (p value=0.054) and behavior (p value=0.055) had no significant relationship with TB cases. TB cases can be prevented by minimizing risk factors in the home environment and healthy behavior. This study concludes that counseling regarding risk factors should be carried out, reminding and advising people with symptoms of TB or contact with TB patients to check themselves at a health center or health facility.
