Abstract

This study evaluates the effectiveness of Mesenchymal Stem Cell (MSC) therapy in lowering HbA1c levels among patients with Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus (T2DM). A systematic review was conducted using PubMed, ScienceDirect, and Google Scholar with the keywords “Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus,” “Mesenchymal Stem Cell,” and “HbA1c,” covering studies published between 2022–2025. Four primary studies met the inclusion criteria, involving 438 patients treated with MSCs from various sources. Most studies reported significant HbA1c reduction after MSC infusion, particularly with UC-MSC therapy, which showed a decrease of over 1% within 48 weeks. The effect was more pronounced in patients with a shorter diabetes duration (≤10 years) and lower BMI (<23 kg/m²). The conclusion is that MSC therapy has been proven to improve glycemic control with a favorable safety profile. However, further large-scale and long-term studies are needed to confirm its effectiveness and determine the optimal clinical application.   Keywords: Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus, HbA1c, Mesenchymal Stem Cell

Abstract

This study aims to explore gout patients' perceptions of the use of traditional medicine in the Wania Community Health Center (Puskesmas) working area in Mimika Regency. The method used was qualitative, employing descriptive phenomenology. Based on thematic analysis used in data processing, five main themes were identified: (1) type of traditional medicine used (herbal concoctions, massage), (2) reasons for use (natural, minimal side effects, economical), (3) perceived effectiveness (reducing pain and swelling), (4) obstacles (difficulty in preparing, ingredients not always available), and (5) support and expectations (recognition and support from health facilities). In conclusion, patient perceptions of traditional medicine are influenced by culture, economics, accessibility, and personal experience. Nurses are expected to implement culturally sensitive nursing care and integrate patient beliefs into health education.   Keywords: Gout, Nursing, Qualitative, Traditional Medicine, Perception

Abstract

This study aims to explain the application of Jean Watson's Caring Theory in nursing care for pregnant women with twins with low birth weight and umbilical cord blood flow disorders and to assess its impact on the client's physical and psychological condition. The research method used a case study with a nursing process approach based on Jean Watson's theory. The results showed that the application of Watson's ten carative factors resulted in significant improvements in maternal nutritional status, fetal stabilization, and decreased anxiety. Meal portions increased, weight gain improved, and fetal heart rate stabilized based on monitoring. Anxiety levels decreased, as evidenced by more open expression of feelings and lower anxiety scores. Therapeutic relationships and spiritual support played a significant role in increasing the client's calm and motivation. In conclusion, Jean Watson's Caring Theory is effective for high-risk pregnant women, especially in cases with a combination of biophysical and psychological problems. The caring approach helps improve the mother's physical condition, stabilize the fetus, and reduce anxiety through a therapeutic relationship and emotional and spiritual support. These findings confirm that integrating Watson's theory with Indonesian nursing standards can improve the quality of maternity nursing care.   Keywords: Nursing Care, Jean Watson's Caring, Pregnant Women, Carative

Abstract

This study aims to explore the application of Madeleine Leininger's transcultural nursing theory in nursing care for patients with diverse cultural backgrounds. The method used is a descriptive case study of a pediatric patient with type 1 diabetes mellitus who refused insulin therapy due to religious and cultural beliefs. The results showed that the application of Leininger's three decision modes—preservation, accommodation, and repatterning—can facilitate negotiations between the patient, family, health care provider, and a third party (a trusted person). The intervention successfully increased the acceptance of wound care according to health standards, although insulin therapy was still refused. In conclusion, Leininger's theory is effective in helping nurses overcome cultural barriers in providing nursing care. The application of this model improves communication, family involvement, and utilization of health facilities, although external support and combination with professional standards are needed for optimal results.   Keywords: Cultural Nursing Care, Cultural Values and Norms, Leininger

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the application of Hildegard E. Peplau's Nursing Model Theory in the nursing care of patients with Cellulitis Ante Brachii Osteomyelitis and Diabetes II, where patients experience not only anxiety but also other physical problems such as pain and unstable blood sugar levels. The research method used a qualitative approach by conducting case studies on patients. The results showed that nurses who apply Peplau's theory by implementing therapeutic communication in building interpersonal relationships with patients can overcome anxiety and physical problems experienced by patients. Nurses and patients develop emotionally through four stages of the relationship: orientation, identification, exploitation, and termination. Each stage describes a mutually reinforcing and flexible relationship with intervention options tailored to SIKI and SLKI. In conclusion, this contributes to the development of understanding of the application of Peplau's theory in nursing care, which not only focuses on emotional issues such as anxiety but can also be modified to address other physical and health problems holistically. Abstract

This study aims to analyze the application of Henderson's conceptual framework to nursing care for patients with hypertension. The research method used was a case study to evaluate the fulfillment of 14 basic needs in a patient with hypertension who presented with complaints of headache, dizziness, an unhealthy lifestyle, anxiety, and a lack of knowledge about their condition. The results showed that the patient's biological needs, such as a high-salt diet, smoking, lack of physical activity, and sleep disturbances, were not optimally met. Psychological aspects revealed anxiety and knowledge deficits, while sociological aspects indicated limitations in work and recreational activities. Spiritual needs were well met. The resulting nursing diagnoses included acute pain, knowledge deficit, activity intolerance, and risk of spiritual distress. Interventions were provided based on the Indonesian Nursing Intervention Standards (SIKI), encompassing observation, therapeutic interventions, education, and collaboration. The evaluation results showed an increase in the patient's knowledge, ability to manage pain, and improvement in daily activities. In conclusion, Henderson's theory is practical as a framework for holistic assessment and intervention in patients with hypertension; however, further conceptual strengthening is still needed in certain chronic clinical conditions.   Keywords: Case Analysis, Nursing Care, Hypertension, Virginia Henderson, 14 Basic Needs

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the application of Callista Roy’s Adaptation Model in providing nursing care for a patient with anorexia nervosa. The method used was a case study involving patient Nn. S, with a comprehensive assessment based on Roy’s four adaptation modes: physiological, self-concept, role function, and interdependence. The results show that anorexia nervosa significantly affects nutritional status, physiological functions, body image, social interactions, and the ability to perform roles. The patient demonstrated maladaptive coping mechanisms related to social pressure regarding body shape and distorted self-perception. Nursing interventions based on Roy’s model were found to improve physiological balance, enhance body image, strengthen family support, and promote positive coping mechanisms. In conclusion, the application of Roy’s Adaptation Model is effective as a holistic framework that integrates biological and psychosocial aspects of nursing care for patients with anorexia nervosa, thus supporting a more comprehensive recovery process.   Keywords: Adaptation Model Roy, Anorexia Nervosa, Body Image, Coping Mechanisms, Nursing Concepts

Abstract

This study aimed to analyze the relationship between fasting duration, type of anesthesia, and surgical duration with the incidence of thirst in pre-anesthetic patients at Welas Asih Regional General Hospital, West Java Province. The method used was an observational analytic approach with a cross-sectional approach. The results showed that the majority of respondents were female (58.8%), with the highest fasting duration being 6–8 hours (64.7%), mild thirst intensity (54.1%), and no signs of dehydration (81.2%). Statistical tests showed a significant association between fasting duration (p=0.018; OR=2.45) and surgical duration (p=0.043; OR=1.97) with thirst intensity. While the type of anesthesia had no effect (p=0.214). In conclusion, fasting duration and surgical duration influence the intensity of thirst in pre-anesthetic patients, while the type of anesthesia has no effect.   Keywords: General Anesthesia, Surgical Duration, Pre-anesthetic Fasting, Thirst

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the variations in health promotion strategies used in preventing stunting cases. The research design method used is qualitative, based on articles and journals published between 2020-2025, accessed through the Google Scholar portal, and employing the PRISMA technique. The results of this study show that advocacy for stunting prevention has already been carried out by health center officers to local government authorities such as village heads, sub-district officials, and relevant regional government organizations (OPD) to obtain budget support and policy backing. Social support is provided in the form of counseling by religious leaders, and family support influences the behavior of providing specific nutritional interventions. Community empowerment is carried out using various models, including the empowerment of health cadres, PKK groups, women, families, and the broader community. Most empowerment efforts increase respondents' knowledge in stunting prevention. The conclusion is that the health promotion strategies found in the literature review are mostly conceptual strategies rather than operational strategies, and do not show whether these strategies are effective in preventing stunting.   Keywords: Advocacy, Community Development, Community Empowerment, Stunting

Abstract

This study aimed to determine the effect of CBT on reducing depression in patients with Chronic Kidney Failure (CKD). The study used a quasi-experimental pre-post test design without a control group and was conducted in the hemodialysis ward of Abdur Rahem Hospital, Situbondo. The sample size was 39 patients in the treatment group and 39 in the control group, selected through purposive sampling. The Beck's Depression Inventory-II (BDI-II) was used to measure depression. The results showed a significant reduction in depression levels in both groups (p = 0.001), but a greater reduction occurred in the treatment group, with an average N-gain of 45.44%, compared to the control group, which only achieved 17.54% (p = 0.000). These findings indicate that CBT is effective in reducing depression levels in CKD patients undergoing hemodialysis. In conclusion, CBT therapy is recommended as a routine psychological intervention to improve the mental well-being and quality of life of CKD patients.
