Abstract

Milo pace robusta coffee is a local coffee variety in Jember Regency that is threatened with extinction. One way to overcome this problem is by propagating it through tissue culture. The success of tissue culture is determined by the use of optimal culture media doses. Research related to the development of Milo pace coffee is still very limited. This study aims to obtain the best dose in woody plant medium media for the development of robusta coffee leaf explants of the Milo pace variety. This study used a completely randomized design (CRD) with a single factor, namely the WPM media dose (1 time, ¾ times, ½ times and MS 1 time as a control) which was repeated 3 times with 3 samples. Data were analyzed descriptively and statistically using analysis of variance, and continued with the DMRT test at a 95% confidence level. The results showed that the use of WPM media with 1 dose was the best dose with a percentage of imbibed explants of 77.77% with an average emergence at 2.53 ± 0.68 DAI and green live explants. Furthermore, the percentage of browning explants was still high at 88.89±19.24%, which appeared at 9.96±1.73 DAI. Various doses of WPM media were unable to induce callus in Milo Pace robusta coffee leaf explants.

Abstract

The demands of 21st century education emphasize the importance of mastering critical thinking skills for students in order to be able to compete competitively. However, the reality in the field shows that the level of students' critical thinking skills is still in the low category. The causal factors are the use of media and teaching materials that are less interesting and less interactive. This study aims to determine the effectiveness of the biotechnology practical E-Instructions product through QR Code technology to improve students' critical thinking skills in junior high schools. The method used in this study was a field trial using the One Group Pre-test Post-test design on 32 ninth grade students of SMP Negeri 5 Tuban. Data collection was carried out through the T-Paired and N-Gain tests. The results showed a significant increase (Sig. 0.000) with an N-Gain of 0.74 (high criteria), proving that QR Code-based Practical E-Instructions are effective in improving students' critical thinking skills. This innovation is expected to be a solution in more interactive biotechnology learning and encourage students' critical analysis skills.

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to determine the differences in the thinking levels of students learning about the circulatory system taught using the chunking technique combined with writing is thinking, the chunking technique, and the lecture technique in grade XI students at SMA Negeri 20 Gowa in the 2024/2025 academic year. This study was an experiment using purposive sampling with specific considerations. The research population consists of 300 individuals, with 90 samples divided into 6 learning groups. Data collection was conducted using a test instrument consisting of two types of questions: multiple-choice and essay-style, to assess students' thinking levels. Hypothesis testing was performed using an ANOVA test, as the data were normally distributed and homogeneous. The results of the hypothesis testing indicated that the significance level was <0.000. This indicates that the sig value is < α (0.05), so it can be concluded that H0 is rejected and H1 is accepted. This means that there is a difference in the level of thinking of students taught using the chunking technique combined with writing is thinking (experimental class), the chunking technique (positive control class), and the lecture technique (negative control class) in students learning about the human circulatory system. Since there is a difference, an LSD (Least Significant Difference) test was conducted, showing that the level of thinking among students taught using the chunking technique combined with writing was thinking was the highest, followed by the chunking technique and the lecture technique.

The research employed a Research and Development (R&D) method using the ADDIE model, limited to the stages of Analysis, Design, and Development. The final product was an e-module on living things classification for seventh-grade students, designed as a component of the educational game. Research instruments included needs analysis questionnaires, validation guidelines, and product assessment sheets. The data were analyzed descriptively through both qualitative feedback and quantitative scoring from validators. Findings revealed that the e-module contained complete components such as interactive materials, exercises, answer keys, and summaries. Subject matter experts rated the module as excellent in terms of language, presentation, and content accuracy, although the scope of material remained limited. Media experts evaluated graphical design, interactivity, and layout as highly suitable for junior high school students. Practitioners rated the e-module as highly effective and contextually relevant for classroom use. The e-module serves as a self-learning resource that strengthens students' understanding before playing the game. Interactive components and evaluation exercises allow students to independently measure their achievements while increasing their motivation to learn through integration with technology-based applications. It can be concluded that the SIGAME e-module is “Very Adequate” for use in the next development stage, namely testing its practicality and implementing learning in schools, as an independent learning resource that supports mastery of the concept of classifying living things.

Abstract

The low levels of collaborative skills and inadequate cognitive learning achievement among students in the complex topic of biogeochemistry have motivated this study. A preliminary investigation at SMAN 1 Mojosari revealed that 26 out of 36 students failed to meet the Minimum Competency Standard, and their collaborative skills were rated as only moderate on two key indicators: productive teamwork (57.1%) and showing respect (58.3%). This research aimed to evaluate the effectiveness of the reciprocal teaching model enhanced with interactive diagram media in improving students’ collaboration abilities and enhancing cognitive learning outcomes. A quasi-experimental design with a nonequivalent pretest-posttest control group was employed. Two classes of grade X students (36 students per class) were selected using purposive sampling. Data were collected using cognitive tests and collaboration questionnaires, then analyzed using ANOVA. The findings indicate that the intervention did not significantly influence students’ collaborative skills (p = 0.345 > 0.05), although it significantly improved cognitive learning outcomes (p = 0.000 < 0.05). These results suggest that the reciprocal teaching model, combined with interactive diagram media, effectively enhances cognitive achievement and shows potential for fostering improvements in collaborative skills over time. The effectiveness of this approach is influenced by several factors, including students’ initial ability, limited implementation time, and students’ ability to adapt to the new learning model.
