Abstract

The church founded by the Lord Jesus is an exclusive fellowship in matters of faith and salvation in the Lord Jesus Christ. On the other hand, the church is also an open (inclusive) communion that wants to work with others. The problem is the concept of the church as an open communion and the Biblical open missional paradigm. Using a qualitative descriptive method with a literature and hermeneutic approach, this study aims to explain the concept of the church as an open communion and explain an open missional paradigm based on the prayer of Jesus in John 17:18-19. The results of this study: first, the church as an open community is a union between church members based on the relational unity of the Trinity of God by developing an attitude of solidarity among fellow members and moving beyond the church community based on love. Second, the open missional paradigm manifests in three ways: Jesus is the central mission, the delegation of mission tasks, and sanctification in truth.

Abstract

Marriage is a conscious choice and becomes one of the essential things in the journey of human life. Therefore, every couple who decides to start a household life brings their own needs, desires and aspirations, including the desire to have children. But the problem is there are married couples who are not blessed with children. If this is related to Christian marriage, how does the Christian faith respond to it? This paper explores the command to be fruitful and multiply in Genesis 1: 28. The method used is hermeneutic with a socio-historical approach to look at the text's origins so that the text's application is in accordance with the context. The results of the study show that the background of Genesis 1: 28 cannot be separated from the events of the life of the Jewish nation (Israel) when they had just returned from exile supported by the Persian empire. As leaders, the priests of Zadok needed many descendants to retrieve inherited land, manage land to revive the economy and pay taxes for the benefit of the lives of the Zadok priests and servants in the temple cult. Based on this, the purpose of Christian marriage is not for that, so physical offspring in Christian marriage is not absolute. The physical birth of offspring in a Christian marriage is a divine mystery. Therefore, a Christian couple with no heart need not feel guilty, let alone think they did not fulfil the commandment in Genesis 1: 28.

Abstract

This study aims to investigate the eco-theological ethical review of the conflict over a customary forest in Kinipan. The method used is qualitative with a phenomenological approach. The study results show that the customary forest conflict in Kinipan is caused by differences in perspectives between the Kinipan community and external parties (government and companies) on the utilization of the forest. The Kinipan community regards the forest as a source of livelihood, cultural sustainability, and happiness, while external parties consider the forest an economic resource. From an ethical perspective, this conflict can be seen as a clash between the collective ethics of the Kinipan community and the individualistic ethics of the external parties. From a theological perspective, this conflict can be seen as a clash between the belief of the Kinipan community in human responsibility to care for nature as a form of obedience to God and the belief of external parties that formal legal power is a source of legitimacy for forest utilization.

Abstract

Conflict management is a method used to guide interactions within a social group, both between individuals and groups, to create harmony. In this context, it deals with conflict management within the church to create harmony and peace. But the fact is that many churches today are experiencing internal and external conflicts, not a few of which eventually the church has split, and many church denominations have broken up because they cannot resolve a conflict. The church does not have a reasonable basis for conflict management, so problem-solving tends to follow logic rather than the leading of the Holy Spirit or spiritual things. The purpose of this study is to explain the essential conflict management of the early church based on the Acts of the Apostles so that it can be a reference for today's church in resolving conflicts that occur within the church. The method used is a qualitative approach with an analytical description method, describing it in a hermeneutic way, namely by interpreting several verses in the story of the apostles, which then become the basis for conflict management. Researchers obtained research results: First, the Early Church Lived in Repentance. Second, the Early Church Lived in the Teachings of the Apostles or the Word of God. Third, the early church lived in prayer and close communion. Fourth, the Early Church Established Good Communication. Fifth, the Early Church Did Not Live in Selfishness.

Abstract

Salvation is something that is fundamental to the faith of believers, even though there are still often differences in understanding of salvation. There are those who argue that salvation can be obtained because of contributions from actions or responses from humans who are trying to get it. For those who hold the understanding of predistination, safety is an absolute guarantee for everyone He has chosen. Although the concept of predistination is often considered unbiblical, through this research using a qualitative approach based on Romans 8:29-30 it is hoped that it can provide an understanding of that salvation so that through the concept of predistination it can provide an understanding that can guarantee that salvation and is a biblical thing.

Abstract

This research is about the study of New Testament text criticism. Through this research, the importance of this study in the exegesis of the New Testament is put forward. Thus making text criticism a step that every interpreter must carry out. The main reasons for text-critical studies to be carried out are the damage to the original manuscripts of the New Testament, and the available copies contain so many variants. By using qualitative research methods or, more precisely, literature review, several research results were found related to this research topic. Text-critical studies help interpreters select texts or variants much closer to the damaged versions of the original NT texts to be used as reference texts in the exegesis studies conducted. The study of text criticism helps every interpreter to carry out a scientific interpretation but does not set aside its authority and authority as the revealed Word of God. Finally, through the study of New Testament text criticism, interpreters are taught to build their texts so that any result of the resulting interpretation is no longer in doubt, both in terms of the textual aspect and the theology produced.

Abstract

Asia is a locus of a society full of suffering and poverty. An active role in social life is an expected construction for the relevance of life. The article examines the spirituality and theology adopted by Pentecostals to engage in social life. The research method used is qualitative with a constructive theology approach. The research results show that the relationship between creation and history becomes essential because it provides a way to talk about the importance of action in the divinely created biophysical order while still distinguishing it from the discussion about creation as a product of divine causality. The maintenance of the Holy Spirit in creation is done with involvement in responding to social issues. When one understands creation as a biophysical order, the created order contains development in mind. In other words, the cultural mandate reflects the implicit understanding that the entire biophysical order was created in a potential state, ready for a long development process, and maintained with the help of the Holy Spirit.

Abstract

The word "repent" in God draws various interpretations and impacts the concept of God's immoral nature, which cannot be changed or fixed. So, there are members of Christian congregations outside of Christianity who conclude that God is imperfect and not omniscient. The word regret, in its general sense, always has a negative meaning, where the word regret is related to the feeling felt when one realizes that something has been done that has hurt someone and hopes to take it back. At such a level of understanding, God cannot identify with sinful human character. Therefore, the author examines the use of the word through theological analysis with a qualitative approach using literature/literature studies. The goal is to find out how to interpret the word "repentance" attached to God. Then, knowing the translation used has represented the real meaning. Then, the author looks for the use of the word "regret" in the general sense and theology. In conclusion, God can't have feelings caused by sin so that He regrets and causes His nature and character to change because of the behavior of His creation.

Abstract

The church's identity, before, during, and after the COVID-19 pandemic, is no longer the same. During the COVID-19 era, when the church fully embraced its digital form, many ecclesiology formulations optimistically placed the church's future in the non-institutional digital church. In reality, in the current post-COVID-19 era, the church is returning to its pre-pandemic form, that is, as an institutional church. Based on this phenomenon, this article aims to offer a contextual post-Covid-19 ecclesiology study. To achieve this goal, this article will critique the writings of Selome Kuponu and Adekunle Tayo, which discuss post-Covid-19 practical ecclesiology based on the theological construction of an open church through a study of the Trinitarian-Perichoresis relationship. The outcome of this article is to propose an open ecclesiology based on networked relationships as a proposal for a transformative contextual ecclesiology in the post-pandemic COVID-19 church. Specifically, networked relationships mean that the church sustains its fellowship both through in-person meetings (analogue) and digital meetings (digital). This article is written based on a qualitative descriptive research methodology that elucidates the essential aspects that need to be developed in our church life in the current post-Covid-19 era through a literature data analysis method.
