Abstract

The production of household waste increases every day in line with the increase in the number of products and the comsumption pattern of people. The things that must be done to overcome the increase in the amount of waste is by reducing the amount of waste from its source using waste. This study aims to determine the role of the community in the management of inorganic waste through the Waste Bank in the Malaimsimsa District and how much is the contribution of the Waste Bank in reducing the amount of inorganic waste in the Malaimsimsa District and the income that can be obtained through the Waste Bank. This study used a qualitative description method. The results of this study indicate that the existence of a Waste Bank in Malaimsimsa District can reduce waste production in the final dumpsite, but waste recycling and sorting have not been maximally carried out by the community and Waste Bank managers. The composition of the wastes in Malaimsimsa District consists of 39.90% inorganic waste that consist of 29.11% of plastics, 8.8% of papers, 0.17% of glasses/bottles, and 1.82% of iron/can.

Abstract

Transportation is very instrumental directly in the process of development, due to the transportation community easily perform the displacement from a site to the other, thus accelerating the growth of the economy in large cities and villages. However, such transport is not feasible and provide negative impact to the environment in the form of air pollution. The purpose of research was to (1). analyse large concentrations of CO, HC, CO₂ and O₂ in the emission gas exhaust, (2). analyse the effect of emission gas exhaust of vehicles public transport, and (3) analyse the influence of the characteristics of public transport vehicles against the concentration of CO and HC test emissions existed in the District Manokwari. The research was a kind of quantitative research where all the data needed for the analysis were obtained directly. The data directly required were data obtained by measuring the amount of emission, the characteristics of the operational public transport, interviews, and analysis of regression linear multiple by using SPSS 25. The results of the study showed that the average amount of emission gas exhaust of public transport vehicles in the District Manokwari is CO at 2.13 %, HC at 534.60 ppm, CO₂ at 12.96% and O₂ at 2.71%. Most of the public transport operating in the city of Manokwari issued emission gas exhaust exceeded the threshold limit that has been set and has the potential to pollute the air or do not pass the test of emissions by 63.50% and only 36.5% in transport public passed the test of emission gas exhaust. In addition, the results of the test emission coefficient of the regression were simultaneously throughout the variables affecting the emission of CO and HC.

Abstract

Masohi bark is a primadonna product other than in Fak-Fak Regency, therefore it is necessary to study the preservation and development of masohi plants. Masohi has been developed based on local knowledge based on indigenous peoples. Survey method by exploring key figures related to land history, cultivation techniques, harvesting, and processing masohi bark. Furthermore, these data were analyzed using a Likert scale and showed that the role of indigenous peoples was still very high. The results showed that community seed gardens helped a lot in providing quality seeds with maintenance, prioritizing organic fertilizers, some harvesting of masohi bark was still being cut down, and problems with drying when wet conditions. In addition, it was also found that their management is still not based on technology and adaptation to climate change. Several strategic proposals are needed for further development for the parties so that sustainable management can still be sustainable in terms of quantity and quality.

Abstract

This study aimed to identify morphological characters and analyze the nutrition of the Mapia taro genotype and other taro genotypes in Kpudori and Warbor villages in North Supiori district and Wakre and Wafor villages in East Supiori district. The research was conducted in June – August 2020 using a descriptive method with survey techniques. Chemical analysis of tubers was carried out at the Agroclimatology Laboratory, Faculty of Agriculture, University of Papua and the Laboratory of Chemistry and Food Technology, Research Institute for Nuts and Tubers, Malang. In this method, taro samples were taken from a population of taro plants in a predetermined village in each of the North and East Supiori districts. The sampling method for morphological characterization was carried out randomly on 3 taro plants per village. Observations on plant morphological characteristics (above gound plant part) were carried out on taro plants aged approximately 90-150 days after planting (DAT). While the morphological characterization of tubers was carried out at harvest. The standardized qualitative and quantitative data were processed using the SPSS program with cluster analysis to determine the level of similarity between the genotypes of each sample of each taro. Cluster analysis produced a dendogram which was used to assess the level of similarity of the taro genotypes from the data obtained. The results showed that the highest association coefficient values were found in the KDR-TP and KDR-IU genotypes of 11.044. This shows that the two genotypes have a low level of similarity compared to other taro genotypes. While the lowest coefficient value was found in the WKR-TP and WFR-TP genotypes with a coefficient value of 4.064, indicating that the WKR-TP and WFR-TP accessions had a high degree of similarity. The results of the chemical analysis of tubers varied in 6 genotypes of taro. The highest water content was WBR-TP genotype (87.88%), ash content (4.59%) in WFR-TP genotype, starch content (67.24%) in WKR-IP genotype, sugar content (11 0.01%) in KFR-IU, amylose content (22.91%) in WBR-TP, fat content (0.64%) in KDR-IU, protein content (8.81%) in WFR-TP.

Abstract

Coral reefs are one of the potential marine resources in Indonesia, especially on the island of Lombok which needs to be taken into account. So that the mapping of the distribution and extent of coral reefs is needed in developing the potential of marine and coastal resources. One of the small islands that have potential is on the west side of the island of Lombok, namely in Gili Gede Indah Village, Gili Asahan, and Gili Layar. The ecological and economic functions of the coral reef ecosystem will run well if the condition of the coral reef is in a healthy condition. The method used to calculate the distribution is using Sentinel 2A satellite imagery with a spectral resolution of 30 m2 with a supervised method of image data processing using Google Earth Engine (GEE). in situ observational physics parameter data. coral reefs were carried out at a depth of 3.8 – 6 meters. The results of observations and analysis of coral reef cover area on Gili Gede 17.84 km2, Gili Layar 9.72 km2 and Gili Asahan 11.91 km2. Confusion matrix interpretation results are Gili Gede 82%, Gili Layar 70.3%, and Gili Asahan 88.5%. While the percentage of live coral reefs in the three dyke is 9.2 - 26.2%. This percentage shows the criteria and conditions of low to moderate coral reefs. Although the condition of the physicochemical parameters in the three dyke was classified as good, namely DO 8.4 – 8.7 mg/l, salinity 31 – 32 ‰, temperature 29.6 -30.2 0C, sea water clarity to 100%. Coral damage due to fishing and tourism activities.

Abstract

Jayapura Regency is an area in Papua Province with relatively rapid growth since it was formed into a district in 2016. Over the last ten years, massive land use and changes have occurred in Jayapura Regency. Changes in land use can be identified by looking at the land use that occurred in the past and present. Land use change is an unavoidable process, so it is important to study it empirically and in multi-time observations for development planning. In this regard, the formulation of the problem is that the types of land use and change in Jayapura Regency are not yet known with a case study of the spatial approach in 2005 and 2018. Based on the formulation of the problem, the purpose of this study is to determine the typology of land use and change in Jayapura Regency for 2005 and 2018. It is hoped that this study will become a data base and spatial information on land use in Jayapura Regency and enrich knowledge about spatial models of land use change that can be used as an approach to regional development planning. The results of the study show that based on land use classification in Jayapura Regency, there are 20 typologies of land use where primary dry land forest type has an area of 983,713.71 ha or 67.98% of the total area. Most of these forests are state forest areas with protection and production functions. During the period 2005 – 2018, Jayapura Regency lost 6,508.08 ha of forested area with an average rate of forest depreciation reaching more than 500.62 ha annually, while open land changed functions almost half of its original use.

Abstract

The status of yellow trout fish resources in the northern waters of Manokwari until now has not been known with certainty regarding the distribution of size composition and growth patterns. This study was conducted to determine the frequency distribution in length and weight of yellow trout (S. leptolepis), the relationship between length and weight of yellow trout (S. leptolepis) and the growth pattern of the yellow trout in the northern waters of Manokwari. This research was carried out in a boat chart that made the landing of yellow trout fish at the Sanggeng Landing Fish Base (PPI) in Manokwari Regency and was carried out for 2 different months between May and July 2021. From the results of the analysis, it was found that the highest frequency distribution of S. leptolepis in May was in class range 16.24 – 16.82 cm with a total of 523 individuals, while in July the highest frequency of length was found in the class range 15.06 – 15.64 cm. The relationship between length and weight of yellow trout in the waters of North Manokwari has the equation W = 0.0533L2.4759, where length growth affects weight growth with R2 = 0.7436, meaning that the growth of yellow trevally in North Manokwari waters is allometric negative.
