Abstract

Traditional use zones (TUZ) of Misool is located within the marine protected area of Misool which has high marine biodiversity, especially coral and reef fish. Regulating the use of fishing gears in TUZ of Misool,it is essential to ensure the sustainability of marine ecosystems and fisheries in the region. The  objective of this study isto determine the suitability of fishing gear inthe depth zone of less than 50 m and more than 50 m in Misool TUZ, Raja Ampat. The fishing gear suitability was assessed based on bioecological, social, and legal aspects. The method used in this research was analytic hierarchy process (AHP) whichderivesthe prioritiesfor criteria and alternative fishing gear using expert judgment. The results of the analysis showed that fishing gears that wasmost appropriate to be operated in the zone which has thewater depth of less than 50 m was handline.  The most decisive criteria for thiswasthat the fishing gear was undestructive to coral reef ecosystem and seagrass ecosystem. In addition,fishing gears that were suitable inthe zone with depth more than 50 m were trolline and handline, and the most decisive criteria wasthe availability of fish target and not causing conflict between fishermen. On the other hand gillnet and liftnet had a low compatibility to be used in both zones.Keywords:   Analytic hierarchy process, marine protected area,Misool Raja Ampat,suitability of fishing gear, traditional use zones ABSTRAKZona pemanfaatan tradisional (ZPT) Misool terletak di dalam kawasan lindung laut Misool yang memiliki keanekaragaman hayati laut yang tinggi, terutama ikan dan terumbu karang. Oleh karena itu,pengaturan penggunaan alat tangkap ikan di ZPT Misool sangat penting untuk menjamin keberlanjutan ekosistem laut dan perikanan di wilayah ini. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui kesesuaian alat tangkap untuk dioperasikan di zona perairan pada kedalaman kurang dari 50 m dan lebih dari 50 m di ZPT Misool, Raja Ampat. Kesesuaian alat penangkapan ikan dinilai berdasarkan aspek bioekologi, sosial dan legal. Metode yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah metode Analytical Hierarchy Process (AHP) dengan pembobotan terhadap kriteria dan alternatif alat tangkap menggunakan penilaian pakar. Hasil analisis menunjukkan bahwa alat tangkap yang paling sesuai digunakan di zona perairan pada kedalaman kurang dari 50 m adalah pancing ulur, dengan kriteria yang paling menentukan adalah tidak merusak ekosistem terumbu karang dan ekosistem padang lamun. Kemudian pada zona perairan pada kedalaman lebih dari 50 m, alat tangkap yang sesuai digunakan adalah pancing tonda dan pancing ulur, dengan kriteria yang paling menentukan adalah ketersediaan target ikan dan tidak menimbulkan konflik antara nelayan. Alat tangkap jarring insang dan bagan perahu memiliki kesesuain yang rendah untuk digunakan dikedua zona.Kata kunci:          Analytical Hierarchy Process,kesesuaian alat tangkap, zona pemanfaatan tradisional, Marine Protected Area, Misool Raja Ampat

Abstract

Manokwari coastal waters are one of the coastal areas that experience very rapid development of development activities from year to year. This condition can disrupt the ecosystem and can also interfere with the growth of gastropods, especially Monetaria annulus. This research was conducted in three locations (Yenkarwar Beach, Nusmapi Island, and Tanjung Manggewa) for two months (October and November 2020). The purpose of this study was to describe the relationship between length and weight, as well as the growth pattern of the gastropod M. annulus in Doreri Bay. Data was collected using a square with a length of 100 m with a width adjusted to the width of the seagrass bed towards the sea. Especially for the location of the waters of Yenkarwar Beach, no individual M. annulus was found during the sampling. The results showed a relationship between length and weight at the locations of Nusmapi I. and Tanjung Manggewa, respectively, namely BT = 0.0017PC2.3883 and BT = 0.0005PC2.8188. The growth pattern of this species from both locations showed that the shell length increased faster than its body weight (negative allometric pattern). The value of b as a derivative of growth indicates better conditions in the sample at Tanjung Manggewa than on Nusmapi Island. This difference in value can be an illustration of the condition of the M. annulus habitat and therefore information on the relationship between length and weight of growth patterns becomes important in efforts to monitor population conditions and their preservation in natural habitats.  Perairan pesisir Manokwari merupakan salah satu wilayah pesisir yang mengalami perkembangan kegiatan pembangunan yang sangat pesat dari tahun ke tahun. Kondisi ini dapat mengganggu ekosistem dan juga dapat mengganggu pertumbuhan gastropoda, khususnya  Monetaria annulus. Penelitian ini dilakukan di tiga lokasi (perairan Pantai Yenkarwar, Pulau Nusmapi, dan Tanjung Manggewa) selama dua bulan (Oktober dan November 2020). Tujuan dari penelitian ini yaitu untuk mendeskripsikan hubungan panjang dan berat, serta pola pertumbuhan gastropoda M. annulus di Teluk Doreri. Pengumpulan data dilakukan dengan menggunakan kuadrat dengan panjang 100 m dengan lebar yang disesuaikan dengan lebar hamparan lamun ke arah laut. Khusus untuk lokasi perairan Pantai Yenkarwar tidak ditemukan individu M. annulus selama sampling dilakukan. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan hubungan panjang dan berat pada lokasi P. Nusmapi dan Tanjung Manggewa secara berturut-turut, yaitu BT = 0,0017PC2,3883 dan BT = 0,0005PC2,8188. Pola pertumbuhan spesies ini dari kedua lokasi menunjukkan pertambahan panjang cangkang lebih cepat dibandingkan berat tubuhnya (pola alometrik negatif). Nilai b sebagai derivat dari pertumbuhan menunjukkan kondisi yang lebih baik pada sampel di lokasi Tanjung Manggewa dibandingkan Pulau Nusmapi. Perbedaan nilai ini bisa menjadi gambaran kondisi habitat M. annulus dan oleh karena itu informasi mengenai hubungan panjang dan berat pola pertumbuhan menjadi penting dalam upaya pemantauan kondisi populasi dan pelestariannya di habitat alami.

Abstract

Taman Nasional Teluk Cenderawasih (TNTC) memiliki potensi karang sebanyak 145 jenis dari 15 famili, dan tersebar di tepian 18 pulau besar dan kecil. Namun kondisi ekosistem terumbu karang di TNTC mulai terancam akibat fenomena alam dan aktifitas manusia. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui kondisi tutupan karang di TNTC berdasarkan bentuk pertumbuhan (lifeform) karang. Penelitian dilakukan dengan metode Point-Intercept Transect (PIT) pada Bulan Mei 2012, dengan pengambilan data terumbu karang per titik (point) sepanjang transek. Penempatan garis transek dilakukan pada 30 stasiun penelitian pada kedalaman 9 - 10 meter. Hasil penelitian menunjukan bahwa persen tutupan karang berdasarkan bentuk pertumbuhan (lifeform) karang hidup berkisar 44 %, karang mati 15%, pasir 31 %, alga 8% dan OT (others) 2%. Kisaran persentasi tutupan karang hidup antara 31 - 50 % sehingga dikategorikan kondisi sedang. Kondisi tutupan karang tidak jauh berbeda antara zona larang tangkap dan zona tangkap. Penelitian ini mengindikasikan pula bahwa diperlukan pengawasan pada zona larang tangkap karena masih ada masyarakat yang menangkap ikan menggunakan alat tangkap yang merusak di TNTC.

Abstract

The presence of skipjack fish resources in a fishing area is related to the suitability of the environmental conditions of the waters. This study aims to examine the relationship of sea surface temperature (SPL) to skipjack catches and the characteristics of skipjack catches in Manokwari waters. Data, both catch data and sea surface temperature data, are collected through field surveys by following fishing operations. Furthermore, the data were analyzed descriptively using graphs and mathematically like von Bertalanffy's growth model. The results of this study found that the very small variability of SPL could not explain the variation in the volume of fishermen's catches in Manokwari waters. However, a high SST during the May - August 2013 period is thought to affect the size of the skipjack caught, where the average size of the fish caught inhabited areas near sea level. In addition, the growth of skipjack fish in Manokwari waters is relatively fast with a growth coefficient of 0.42 per year1 and natural mortality between 0.79 per year and 0.81 per year.

Abstract

The implementation of the fisheries moratorium has an impact on the shrimp industry, namely the cessation of shrimp fishing operations and termination of employees of some shrimp companies in the West Papua Province. The aim of this research is develop a shrimp fisheries management strategy at West papua Province after the end of the moratorium on fisheries so that the shrimp industry can contribute to job creation and increase local revenue. SWOT analysis is used to identify internal and external factors as the basis for the shrimp fisheries policy direction. Recommended strategies for managing Shrimp fisheries; 1) Increasing awareness of coastal communities towards environmental sustainability. 2) Optimizing the productivity of small-scale capture fisheries through improving the quality of fishermen's human resources. 3) Strict law enforcement and improvement of community based fish resource utilization monitoring systems, including improving the quality of HR supervisors. 4) Development of capture fisheries infrastructure, including fuel supply logistics systems. 5) Increased cooperation in fishing business through partnership programs, to ensure the sustainability of operational costs, and the development of business investment. 6) Development of value-added capture fisheries for the welfare of fishermen's income.

Abstract

Ikan layang (Decapterus spp) merupakan komponen utama dari sumberdaya ikan pelagis kecil yang sering tertangkap oleh nelayan bagan perahu di perairan Teluk Doreri, namun belum diketahui secara pasti jenis-jenis ikan layang (Decapterus spp) yang tertangkap oleh nelayan bagan perahu di perairan ini, sehingga dapat berakibat terhadap jenis-jenis ikan layang (Decapterus spp) secara spesies, jika tidak dapat dikelola secara berkelanjutan, sedangkan informasi ini sangat perlu diketahui untuk menunjang pengelolaan jenis-jenis ikan layang (Decapterus spp) perairan laut Teluk Doreri Kabupaten Manokwari dalam rangka pengelolaan perikanan tangkap secara berkelanjutan dan terpadu. Untuk itu, tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah mengetahui jenis-jenis ikan layang yang tertangkap oleh nelayan bagan di Teluk Doreri, Kabupaten Manokwari, Provinsi Papua Barat. Penelitian ini dilakukan selama 7 hari di bulan April 2019. Metode yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah metode observasi langsung. Survei dilakukan pada 6 bagan nelayan yang melakukan operasi penangkapan di perairan Teluk Doreri. Analisis data yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini yaitu analisis deskriptif. Berdasarkan hasil yang didapatkan, nelayan biasanya melakukan operasi peangkapan pada 2 lokasi penangkapan, yaitu belakang Pulau Mansinam dan sekitar perairan Anday, dimana ke 2 lokasi ini merupakan target Fishing ground nelayan bagan. Hasil identifikasi jenis-jenis ikan layang menunjukan bahwa, dari 6 bagan nelayan yang melakukan penangkapan ikan layang, ditemukan 3 jenis ikan layang (Decapterus spp) yang sering tertangkap oleh bagan nelayan di sekitar perairan Teluk Doreri, yaitu jenis Decapterus macarellus, Decapterus akaadsi dan Decapterus macrosoma. Diperlukan kajian lebih lanjut dalam menunjang prospek perikanan ikan layang di Teluk Doreri, Kabupaten Manokwari, Provinsi Papua Barat, Indonesia.

Abstract

The waters of South Sorong have potential shrimp resources, including abundant banana shrimp (Penaeus merguiensis de Man, 1888). This study aims to obtain information about the morphometric characteristics and growth of banana shrimp in the fishing area around the waters of Kampung Bakoi, South Sorong Regency, West Papua Province. Data collections were carried out in June and October 2019 using descriptive methods with direct observation techniques. Based on the results of data analysis, it was found that the total length of shrimp caught in Bakoi Village was in the range of 10 - 26.8 cm and the most were caught measuring 15.2 cm to 16.4 cm. The model of the relationship between length and weight of banana shrimp in Bakoi Village follows the equation Log W= 1,630+2,659 Log (L) or the form of negative allometric growth. Analysis of the relationship between total length (Y) and carapace length (X) (including rostrum) and the relationship between total length and carapace length (Z) (excluding rostrum) obtained the best estimator models, each following the logarithmic equations L = -2,188 + 10,226 Ln(PK) and L = 4,439 + 9,201 Ln(PKt) respectively.

Abstract

ABSTRACTArfak rainbow fish, Melanotaenia arfakensis is an endemic fish on several river systems in the northeastern part of the Vogelkop peninsula. This study aims to describe the growth, age at first maturity, and sexual dimorphism of this endemic fish on the Nimbai Stream and the Aimasi Stream, the Prafi River system. The fish were caught using handnet, then were measured their standard length and individual weight. Data were analyzed to estimated growth patterns, von Bertalanffy's growth rate, age at first maturity and sexual dimorphism characteristics. The results showed that male growth patterns varied, with a tendency of the increase in body length faster than that of body weight (negative allometric patterns) with b values ranging from 2.886 to 3.132. On the other hand, the female individuals had positive allometric patterns (b values ranged from 3.062 to 3.378). The growth rate (K) of male body length was faster (0.165-0.174) than that of female individuals (0.159-0.163). Male individuals reached the first maturity condition earlier (at age of 1.83-2.18 years) than female individuals (at age of 2.49-2.64 years). Sexual characteristics between the sexes are related to body height starting to appear when fish are of a standard length of larger than 18.22 mm or when male fish begin to approach the time of the first sexual maturity. Understanding of growth, age, and the characteristics of the sexual dimorphism of endemic fish has an important meaning in monitoring population conditions and for conservation efforts in their natural habitat.

Abstract

The status of yellow trout fish resources in the northern waters of Manokwari until now has not been known with certainty regarding the distribution of size composition and growth patterns. This study was conducted to determine the frequency distribution in length and weight of yellow trout (S. leptolepis), the relationship between length and weight of yellow trout (S. leptolepis) and the growth pattern of the yellow trout in the northern waters of Manokwari. This research was carried out in a boat chart that made the landing of yellow trout fish at the Sanggeng Landing Fish Base (PPI) in Manokwari Regency and was carried out for 2 different months between May and July 2021. From the results of the analysis, it was found that the highest frequency distribution of S. leptolepis in May was in class range 16.24 – 16.82 cm with a total of 523 individuals, while in July the highest frequency of length was found in the class range 15.06 – 15.64 cm. The relationship between length and weight of yellow trout in the waters of North Manokwari has the equation W = 0.0533L2.4759, where length growth affects weight growth with R2 = 0.7436, meaning that the growth of yellow trevally in North Manokwari waters is allometric negative.

Abstract

Terumbu karang memiliki banyak peran dalam kehidupan manusia diantaranya berfungsi sebagai pemecah ombak dan melindungi daerah pesisir dari terjangan gelombang laut, sehingga dapat mencegah atau meminimalisir terjadinya abrasi garis pantai. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menilai kapasitas terumbu karang di Pulau Nusmapi (dikenal sebagai Pulau Lemon) Manokwari. Metode yang dipakai adalah deskriptif. Parameter yang diukur meliputi indeks dimensi terumbu karang (IDTK), tutupan karang (%), dominasi lifeform, jumlah jenis lifeform, jumlah spesies ikan, kedalaman terumbu karang (m) dan jarak terumbu karang dari permukiman penduduk (km). Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa nilai indeks dimensi 0,09 tergolong sangat rendah, tutupan karang 25,93% (kategori sedang), lifeform karang di dominasi Acropora branching (ACB) dengan tutupan 12,65 %. Terdapat 15 bentuk lifeform, 29 jenis ikan pada kedalaman 3 dan 10m, kedalaman terumbu karang mencapai 14m, serta jarak terumbu karang< 0,1km dari permukiman penduduk. Disimpulkan bahwa kriteria penilaian dari 7 parameter tersebut adalah 0,42 atau kategori rendah untuk kapasitas ekosistem terumbu karang.
